Hi all,
We were on the 1/15 Magic, and had a fun time-(thanks for the report Kelli, it was great!). We got home Saturday evening to a few inches of snow. My 6 year old son went to school Monday, then woke up with a 103 degree fever that night. It's now Saturday, and he's still having fevers, rash, sore throat, plus a few GI symptoms. We had blood work done, which was all negative so the doc said it was probably viral. Just curious if anyone else's kids had something similar. Just so glad he waited till this week to get it-he would have been even more miserable with this on the ship! Missing school is one thing, but missing swimming and the clubs is another!
Thanks!
Sydne

We just got back from the 1/22 magic. My 7 yr old spent St. Thomas day in bed w/ a low-grade fever (no rash and fortunately no GI problems). The next day she was fine. This morning (debarkation day) she woke up w/ a nasty cold. I talked to another mom whose 7 yr old had a fever/rash for 2 days while onboard.

Glad you made it through your cruise before the bug showed up!

Sydneli,

I'm so sorry to hear your son is sick! :cold: We were on the same cruise and my kiddos (ages 4, 7, 7, 8, & 14) have been fine since we got home.

Hi Syd!!!

We came back to snow too!! Over a foot by the time it stopped!! The day after we got home, I came down with a nasty head cold. On Friday, Ryan came home form school not looking right and by bedtime he had a fever. So he's had one all weekend, but no GI symptoms. Griffin had enough of those on the cruise for our whole family! Amazingly, no-one else got that! So some fever and bad colds here in CT! Hope your son feels better soon. Tell Z, Ryan says hello and hope he fells better. Tell your J that my Jay says hi.

So sorry your DS is sick! Have they checked him for strep throat? My DD was sick a couple of weeks ago with step, which started with fever, sore throat then vomiting. (no rash this time, but my other DD has presented with a rash before with strep throat) Just a thought...hope he gets better soon!

We were on the 1/15 cruise. My daughter missed 3 days of school this week. Two were due to the stomach bug and one was due to our airport was closed on Sat and we could not fly home until Mon.

We were on the 1/8 Magic sailing and my DS was fine came back home went back to school for a week then we had the Blizzard last weekend over 2 feet of snow and horrible cold, which I think is good because I always believed it killed the germs. Well yesterday my DS (5 yrs old) woke up with a dry cough by noon he was complaining of a sore throat and by dinnertime he was laying in chair refusing supper and by bedtime he had a fever of 102 degrees. Gave him Tylenol and as soon as the four hours were over his fever was spiking back up again gave him more Tylenol and he proceeded to vomit the rest of the night. He was moaning in his sleep so I am sure he had bodyaches. Sounds like a classic case of the flu and he has not had a flu shot since he is allergic to eggs and it is egg based. I don't think it had anything to do with the cruise since it is so far out from debarkation to be showing symptoms. It is just that time of year. Oh well, hope your son feels better soon.

Thanks everyone for your replies! Guess he could have picked it up anywhere. (They did check him for strep and it was neg.) He's finally feeling better today-fighting with his brother, so I think we're over the hill!
Take care everyone! Hope all your kiddos feel better soon, too!

I work with people from all over the country and am in daily contact via phone with them. We haven't cruised yet but apparently this fever/cough thing is going around. My DS was down with it last week, my boss's daughter had it the week before in New York, etc. Apparently, in the Northeast scarlet fever is also going around. Hope everyone is feeling better soon!

We were also on the 1/22 Magic. Our table mates had a 2 year old son who vomited on the second to last day of the trip. On the last day, the Mom was sick also. We had some rougher seas, so they attributed it to sea sickness. I don't believe they reported any fever. :crowded: :hourglass ::MickeyMo :3dglasses ::MinnieMo :mickeybar :thewave:
