In case you wanted to check out my PTR, it is here. My name is April & I am a 34 year old GIS Coordinator (I do all the mapping for a small town) from Massachusetts. I have no recent photos of myself since I avoid the other end of the camera like the plague. My BF, John is such a workaholic that he wont take weekends off. He works for a family restaurant & his work day is from about 4am until 5 or 6pm
EVERY DAY. Once in a while, he will take a Tuesday off. He is very smart & very silly.
John acting like a goof in a Pirates of the Caribbean hat:
My dog, Isis is a 10 year old mixed breed from Alaska vacations to Disney are the only time I spend apart from her. She is definitely the smartest dog I have ever had & I love her to pieces.
Isis:
I also have 2 turtles, but have no good photos of them because they jump off of their rock into the water every time I go near their tank, expecting food. I got them on July 23rd of last year from someone at work who could not keep them. Their names are Smithers & Mr. Burns. That is the VERY short version of things. I just want to get onto the pictures!
This trip started out as a solo trip. I had stayed at AKL in October, but I was sick for the entire week. I had a terrible fever & just felt very run-down. I was so disappointed that I didnt get to do much or eat much that I booked a quick trip in January to get my Disney fix. I was originally planning to stay at WL, but my agent got me a GREAT discount at Yacht Club. I couldnt refuse, since I was not renting a car & would be able to walk to Epcot & DHS. I was due to arrive in Disney on Thursday, January 14th & my stepmom asked me on that Monday if I would mind company (her & my brother). The more, the merrier! They were to join me on Friday, January 15th.
Wednesday night I got home from work, finished packing, & took a shower. John came by & we went out to get some take-out. John grabbed some Styrofoam coffee cups with covers so we could take a cup of coffee in the morning. He was asleep by 9:30pm & I fell asleep at about midnight. Thursday we woke up at 3:45 and I made the coffee. We were on the road by 4am. I arrived early at TF Green Airport. For those of you who have never been there, it is a teeny airport with only twenty-something gates. I stood in line to check my bag, then went through security. That whole process took literally 10 minutes. I then stood in line at Dunkin Donuts for about 15 minutes for a coffee and an egg & cheese sandwich on a croissant. I passed the time by watching Dawn of the Dead on my little dvd player at a charging station. (Not very Disney, I know, but what can I say? Im a horror movie addict.)
The time literally flew by & we began lining up to board. I had never flown Southwest, so I had no idea how anything worked. Some nice people in line showed me where to stand & to my surprise, I was the first in line to board after the pre-boarding passengers. I sat in the first row, left side of the plane, by the window. The only thing that was bad about the seat is that we didnt have any trays. I slept for the first hour of the flight, but then woke restless. There were two women seated next to me who were part of a large group of business associates on the plane. The woman in the aisle seat did not stop talking the ENTIRE flight!! I swear she didnt even breathe! That was beginning to wear on me. They made the announcement that we were making the initial descent & I noticed that the pilot was speeding up & slowing down along with ascending & descending A LOT. I know that isnt normal. We hit some bad turbulence & took a weird route to the airport. I was getting nervous when I noticed we were pretty close to the ground, yet still at a steep angle and going VERY fast.
It was a bit of a rough landing & it seemed like it took FOREVER to get to the gate! Needless to say, I was the first one off of the plane. I jumped on the tram & took it to the main terminal & made my way to Magical Express. I didnt realize that ME is at the far end of the rental area. I waited in line for about 15-20 minutes, then they loaded the bus & we were on our way. Some shots of & from the DME bus:
Leaving the airport & along the way:
This is the best shot I could get of the sign from my seat:
The DME ride was uneventful. There were about 5 families on the bus & they were all pretty quiet. We stopped off at Port Orleans French Quarter, then Riverside, then Swan & Dolphin & then finally to Yacht Club! On property on the way to Yacht Club:
I got off of the bus, tipped the driver & headed towards the front door. A cast member walked me from the front door to the check-in desk. The cast member who checked me in wasnt overly enthusiastic & to tell the truth, I was still a little off from that landing. I got my key (and keys for my stepmom & brother who would arrive the next day) & headed off to my room. I was in 3163. I noticed that my room was the last in the hallway & next to an exit door & a noisy AC vent.
I opened the door to my room & was absolutely shocked at the huge size of the room & of the view. I dont know if you can see the little circle around my room location in this photo, but it is the third floor & on the far end.
