In case you wanted to check out my PTR, it is here. My name is April & I am a 34 year old GIS Coordinator (I do all the mapping for a small town) from Massachusetts. I have no recent photos of myself since I avoid the other end of the camera like the plague. My BF, John is such a workaholic that he won’t take weekends off. He works for a family restaurant & his work day is from about 4am until 5 or 6pm…EVERY DAY. Once in a while, he will take a Tuesday off. He is very smart & very silly.

My dog, Isis is a 10 year old mixed breed from Alaska… vacations to Disney are the only time I spend apart from her. She is definitely the smartest dog I have ever had & I love her to pieces.

I also have 2 turtles, but have no good photos of them because they jump off of their rock into the water every time I go near their tank, expecting food. I got them on July 23rd of last year from someone at work who could not keep them. Their names are Smithers & Mr. Burns. That is the VERY short version of things. I just want to get onto the pictures!
This trip started out as a solo trip. I had stayed at AKL in October, but I was sick for the entire week. I had a terrible fever & just felt very run-down. I was so disappointed that I didn’t get to do much or eat much that I booked a quick trip in January to get my Disney fix. I was originally planning to stay at WL, but my agent got me a GREAT discount at Yacht Club. I couldn’t refuse, since I was not renting a car & would be able to walk to Epcot & DHS. I was due to arrive in Disney on Thursday, January 14th & my stepmom asked me on that Monday if I would mind company (her & my brother). The more, the merrier! They were to join me on Friday, January 15th.
Wednesday night I got home from work, finished packing, & took a shower. John came by & we went out to get some take-out. John grabbed some Styrofoam coffee cups with covers so we could take a cup of coffee in the morning. He was asleep by 9:30pm & I fell asleep at about midnight. Thursday we woke up at 3:45 and I made the coffee. We were on the road by 4am. I arrived early at TF Green Airport. For those of you who have never been there, it is a teeny airport with only twenty-something gates. I stood in line to check my bag, then went through security. That whole process took literally 10 minutes. I then stood in line at Dunkin Donuts for about 15 minutes for a coffee and an egg & cheese sandwich on a croissant. I passed the time by watching “Dawn of the Dead” on my little dvd player at a charging station. (Not very Disney, I know, but what can I say? I’m a horror movie addict.)
The time literally flew by & we began lining up to board. I had never flown Southwest, so I had no idea how anything worked. Some nice people in line showed me where to stand & to my surprise, I was the first in line to board after the pre-boarding passengers. I sat in the first row, left side of the plane, by the window. The only thing that was bad about the seat is that we didn’t have any trays. I slept for the first hour of the flight, but then woke restless. There were two women seated next to me who were part of a large group of business associates on the plane. The woman in the aisle seat did not stop talking the ENTIRE flight!! I swear she didn’t even breathe! That was beginning to wear on me. They made the announcement that we were making the initial descent & I noticed that the pilot was speeding up & slowing down along with ascending & descending A LOT. I know that isn’t normal. We hit some bad turbulence & took a weird route to the airport. I was getting nervous when I noticed we were pretty close to the ground, yet still at a steep angle and going VERY fast. :scared1: It was a bit of a rough landing & it seemed like it took FOREVER to get to the gate! Needless to say, I was the first one off of the plane. I jumped on the tram & took it to the main terminal & made my way to Magical Express. I didn’t realize that ME is at the far end of the rental area. I waited in line for about 15-20 minutes, then they loaded the bus & we were on our way. Some shots of & from the DME bus:

This is the best shot I could get of the sign from my seat:
IMG_2169.jpg

The DME ride was uneventful. There were about 5 families on the bus & they were all pretty quiet. We stopped off at Port Orleans French Quarter, then Riverside, then Swan & Dolphin & then finally to Yacht Club! On property on the way to Yacht Club:

I got off of the bus, tipped the driver & headed towards the front door. A cast member walked me from the front door to the check-in desk. The cast member who checked me in wasn’t overly enthusiastic & to tell the truth, I was still a little “off” from that landing. I got my key (and keys for my stepmom & brother who would arrive the next day) & headed off to my room. I was in 3163. I noticed that my room was the last in the hallway & next to an exit door & a noisy AC vent.

I opened the door to my room & was absolutely shocked at the huge size of the room & of the view. I don’t know if you can see the little circle around my room location in this photo, but it is the third floor & on the far end.

I'm here! I'm here! I'm here!

I was so excited that I didn't read all of the details. Now, I'm going back and will comment in a little bit.

I had a clear view of the Boardwalk! :yay: There was a little balcony with chairs & a table. I loved it. Here are a few more room photos:

I really couldn’t believe how fortunate I was to get such an awesome room! :worship: I unpacked a little & relaxed for a very short time. I couldn’t wait to get to Epcot & start taking photos! Day 1 will continue soon....

Day 1, Part 3

What a beautiful room! So much natural light. I wouldn't have wanted to leave the room. I've been contemplating the Yacht Club for my Oct. trip. Your pics make me really want to stay there.

Can't wait to hear about the rest of the trip.

Wow, you're quick!!! Lisa's #1! Lisa's #1!! :cheer2::banana::yay::woohoo:

Thank goodness somebody thinks I am #1! Make sure you spread it around. :thumbsup2 Wait....you meant I was the first poster. :lmao: Oh well, I felt special there for a minute.

Sorry that you had to sit next to a chatty person. I have to say though that I'd probably be one of "those" people who just couldn't shut up either. I hate just sitting and doing nothing. But, if I saw that you were trying to sleep, I'd have probably toned it down at least a little.

I certainly don't blame you one bit for being nervous about that landing. From what it sounds like, it was pretty scary.:scared1:

Your room is absolutely beautiful and the view is gorgeous!

Wow! I love the room and the view!!!

We are having an ice storm in Iowa today, so your pictures are "warming" me up! :surfweb:

Keep them coming!

This sounds like a great report so far! Thanks so much for sharing! We are hopefully planning on October, so I may have to do a TR as well. It would be nice to share with people who actually want to hear about a trip! :)

Subbing on...:goodvibes

What a lovely room and such a gorgeous view...

I'm sorry about your landing...:sad2:

the less said about me and flying the better...:rolleyes1

Thanks! I really just fell in love with the place. It wasn't at ALL stuffy like I expected it to be. I was very comfortable there.

Well, if it were YOU talking on the plane, I wouldn't have minded!! I would have wanted to talk to you! :)

Holy cow what a view! That room is huge!

I know! I was SO pleasantly surprised.

Not an ice storm!!! Those are the worst ever. We had a terrible one in MA last December. I'm glad I can send a little "warmth" your way!!

Hey- Epcot is my favorite, too. :thumbsup2 Definitely start a TR & a Pre-trip report, too!! Trip reports are so fun to read.

What a view:worship:

I seriously have never had such a great view from a hotel room. It was such good luck!

:woohoo: You're here!! I have to catch up on your PTR...I'm pages behind! Oh, boy- I should not have mentioned that landing on here- I know how much you love flying! :rolleyes1

Yay!! Those pictures are just beautiful. :goodvibes

Thanks! I'm so excited to read your TR! You know- I ended up at DtD that night, but I was so obsessed with charging my camera battery & never charged my phone battery. It was dead by the time I got there. :sad2: I looked for you, though! I just didn't find you.

Hey! April
made it over!!!
awesome Resort!!! I love the room...not stuffy like I expected at all...
where does the boat take guest that I noticed in one of your pictures.

I decided to go right to Epcot. I was SO appreciative of the fact that I didn’t have to bundle up in 47 layers of clothing just to go outside! I went out in a t-shirt & shorts!! I took tons of photos on the walk over to Epcot:

This was approaching the International Gateway. The spider (which doesn’t even look like a spider) is some kind of orb weaver. I am interested in some insects…why I am admitting this to you guys, I have no idea. Of course- if a bug gets on me or even too close, I run around like an escaped lunatic, flailing my arms & legs and screaming. :rolleyes1 I like to observe from a distance. ;)

:yay: I'm happy you're here!! Thanks for reading. There are boats to Epcot & DHS from that dock. There are walking trails to both parks as well. It is great! I have to say that I prefer to walk unless I'm dead tired at the end of the day.

ok, I was loving your pictures until I got to the BUG! AAAA! It is a pretty bug but I would've freaked!

Love the shots of YC/BC!
