She's in 2nd grade GENERAL ED!!!! WOO-HOO!!!! She's been in a self contained special needs classroom for the last two years and also in a special needs pre-school. She's doing really good in the gen-ed class, even though she's only at a kindergarten level since she didn't get ANY education in the special needs class. I'm SO upset that I didn't fight harder (sooner) to get her into a general ed class. And when I did, I probably should have put her in 1st grade again, but we're doing everything we can to get her caught up, and I truly believe she will get caught up.

I've heard that the special education programs are MUCH better in Illinois. They aren't worth diddly squat here in Indiana. They find all the loopholes they can in the Article 7 Law. It's such a joke!

I totally believe she will get caught up. I see it all the time!! A LOT of my kids are mainstreamed for certain subjects and a few move on to the General Education classrooms full time. We do a pretty good job in my district. We have a real close team of specialists and meet with the parents quite often. My ultimate goal is to get every child near grade level, and a lot of them do. We work very hard in my class. I have 11 students. I love what I do, but it can get difficult. I wish your daughter luck. If you ever have any questions or anything, don't hesitate to ask.
