The 4 of us (Richard, Nancy, Jordan (8), and Abby (3)) are booked on your cruise. We have cabin 5020 (yes, Cat 10 SPH). I also have made some Palo reservations, Brunch on the 1st sea day and Dinner on the other sea day. We don't have any excursions booked. We were last on the Magic for the 14-day panama canal bring the magic home (SOF) cruise.

So, I have a few questions.

First, I noticed that a couple of members are from the portland oregon area. Has anyone found any good airfare deals? I think we would flight to orlando on the thursday night before (redeye) or maybe leave really early on friday. We have talked about staying at WDW till wednesday after the cruise, possibily taking advantage of the package with free dining plan (which we have never done before).

As for excursions, does anyone have any recommendations for us? If we do an excursion, we will probably do something offered by DCL, but does anyone know of any good non-DCL excursions? I'm not sure DS8 would like to visit ruins.

Finally, I suspect that more than a few are concerned about hurricanes? I plan on purchasing non-dcl insurance (which I have done before but never had to use it). Is there any companies that I should stay away from or can I just go by price.

My 11 yo DD has gotten in contact with another kid her age that's going to be on the ship and my 8 yo DS would like to do the same. Please PM and let us know. Thanks

I have a DD who will be 8 (almost 9) when we cruise. If your DS doesn't mind hanging with the girls, there are several girls in this age group on the cruise. Unfortunately, I can't get my DD to e-mail any of them. She loves the computer when it comes to playing games, typing and occasional looking something up on the internet, but for some reason I just can't get her chatting or e-mail yet. She is so looking forward to meeting everyone of them. She is already trying to convince me that she is old enough to sign herself in and out of the the club so long as she is with a group of the kids. I am hoping that none of you intend to let your kids this age sign themselves out.

Welcome aboard! I have a DD age 8. We are planning to do an Atlantis Submarine Excursion in Cozumel, the Majahaul (?spelling) Beach at Costa Maya and Parasailing at CC. These are the excursions that DD picked out and this cruise is her birthday present so she gets her way.

Okay guys, very few people have voiced an opinion about which graphic they like for the shirts. I have to go Friday to pick up the basketball team's shirts and I want to check on them then. I have printed all three graphics on regular paper and will take them with me. I am assuming that they will charge the same regardless of which graphic we use. I read a post on another cruise meets thread that said one of the Disers tried to get their shirts printed at a graphic place and was told that due to copyright laws, they could not print anything with Disney name, the ship, etc on it. I am going to check on this. I know that Graphic Impressions, our locat graphics place, has printed shirts with images of the cartoon character "Garfield" on them. They contacted who ever they needed to, and got a release to do so. I will see what they say and if they can do it, I'll get prices and sizes etc., and we will decide on a graphic later.

Yeah it's Alaska. I just started going through Cruise Critic's last night to get more info on the ship and the ports. I feel so behind.

Amanda..Alaska and a Disney cruise in Sept...you go girl :bounce: ...must be nice...
It's nice but we are streching our dollars so thin I am starting to see through them! :rotfl: We have been planning Disney for two years. MIL sprang the Alaska cruise on us about 10 months ago. The family just assumed that we would, and this is the funny part, :rotfl: cancel :rotfl: our disney trip! :lmao: Oh what fools they are! We decided to go with the lowest catagory on the Alaska trip and have little to no intention of doing any of the ships over priced excersions. With the exception of what we spent on an upgrade for our ipod to download pictures, because we plan on taking a million and the clothes I got (which I will wear again on the disney cruise), this will be our budget cruise.

Hello there! Glad to have more DISers joining this cruise. My DD4 will be happy to meet someone that she can spend time with at the OC, did Abby just turn 3? I am hoping my DD can have a friend in there so she doesnt feel lonely. :goodvibes

We have info of what's been planned on the very first post. Check it out.

I'm planning to contact Access America, who provides the insurance for DCL but if you call them directly I've heard they offer you a better deal (AAA rate even if you don't have AAA) and kids do not pay. I'm all for that. :Pinkbounc

I was planning on doing the ruins but after the posts Amanda showed me and the pic of the Mahajual beach with the massage chairs, I'm sold! :cloud9: Cozumel is still on the air, I'll have to look at the tender process and see if I'm comfortable.

Guys, DH came back from a business trip in Peru and he had a really bad flight. The plane dropped and people hit the ceiling, many had injuries and heads were bleeding. He was able to buckle himself when his butt rose off the seat. What a scare! :sad2: I'm glad he's home OK but boy just make sure your seat belt is on even if the light is not on. :guilty:

Guys,
I have posted the images once again but included a poll so you can vote for the ONE you would prefer. Poll Thread For Tshirt Design Amanda, maybe you should add this on the first post as well. For now I have it open but Gail can let us know when she needs all our votes.

Guys if you haven''t paid for insurance yet, here's something to consider...(I have to thank lbgraves for her advice).

Call Access America directly and ask for the AAA Assist Family Care policy. Kids up to 17 do not pay for insurance but are covered in the policy. I am saving HALF of what I would've paid DCL. Woohoo :dancer:

Abby turned three in April. We are still working on a few potty training issues.

She isn't shy and would love to play with all her friends on "the mickey boat" ;)

She should be ready by Sept! So I think I've finally found a friend for Isabelle since 3 and 4 year olds are grouped together at the OC. Maybe this time I can go to Palo for dinner :)

sorry im a bit slow...wild w??? women...i dont get the Wcn....thanks for the heads up at the hyatt....i plan to take it easy on friday...maybe the pool but off to bed early that night....

Sirena, how did your DH like Peru??? I am thinking about Peru for next years vacation....minus the kids of course

Well not only am I trying to lose a few inches for this vacation...eating nuts and apples oat bran cereal water water water instead of my regular diet of coke and chocolates, cookies candy and any meal cooked with wine butter and full cream....

...but I have also made it to day 5 without a smoke  :Pinkbounc

this is the longest i have ever "not smoked" since 1989.....and bonus im not using any patches etc so its not costing me $$

The only thing i miss about smoking is the cashier asking me for ID :teeth:
when your 35 and the legal age is 18...well it feels nice to get carded!!!!

Thank you all for your kind words and support. It meant so much to know that you would share your prayers and pd with my family during such a difficult time. I am very sad to report that my dad passed away Tuesday evening. He was only in the hospice for 26 hours but they were the most peaceful hours we all spent during the last week. It was the most difficult day of my life and I imagine it will be hard for our whole family for quite some time. The memorial service is tomorrow morning and hopefully it will be a chance for our family and friends to celebrate the life of my father.

I mentioned zazzle.com in another post - it is a place where you can upload images and then create t-shirts and other merchandise with the images. I believe that you can also do this at cafepress.com. I know that there are obviously some licensing issues so I guess we'd just have to see what we can do. I just thought it might make it easier for each family to order their own shirts but of course that would only work if we can get past the licensing problem.

I will look into lanyards and see what I can come up with. I'll see if I can find out what sources other cruise groups have used as a starting point and then I'll let you all know what I can find.

Amanda01 - I would love 2 adult and 2 kids bracelets if you are still going to order them.

Amanda princess: - I sent you a PM about Palo brunch. Let me know if you need any other info!

Thank you all again for your concern and kindness - it has been most appreciated!

Hi,

I've been lurking and reading the posts for a few months now. Thought I'd finally pop in to say "Hi". We will be cruising with our three girls (almost 2, 5, and almost 8) and my brother, his wife, and daughter (almost 5). We booked our excursions and Palo reservations last weekend, so we're all set on that end.

I think all the work you've been doing is great! Thank you so much for your dedication--or obsession. We'd love to sign up for the wristbands, pins, etc. Just tell me what I need to do.
