09/05/09 LABORless MAGICal Meanderers

I really like 'Laborless' Buccaneers - great idea!

DisneyMinne - I am with you - I have been rying to lose wieght this whole year and it is really, really been slow going. I am only down about 10 pounds and I have A LOT left to lose. I am just tyring to do my best until we leave and that is all I can do!

I am so excited to see the countdowns dwindling down!

There is just one of me - officially an adult, but planning on being a big kid on the cruise - :rotfl:

Oh, and I'm female, not telling my age (:rolleyes1) and the "mom" of 2 spoiled rotten FurKids.....but will soon be the aunt of 2 twin boys that I'm already planning on initiating into Disney trips as soon as they are potty trained!

Are you traveling solo?
I've thought about doing that, but the cost for a single seemed too high.
So there are 4 of us cruising - 4 is less than 1 single???

I have two spoiled "fur" kids too - long-haired miniature dachshunds.

Count the Carr family also - Marlene, DS - Brian, DDL - Jennifer and DGD - Shannah (9 years) :)

 Mike, will this truly be your last days off before Christmas, or just your last vacation days???

Yes my last day off. As soon as I get back from the cruise we start 12 hour shift work 7 days a week.

All in the name in getting submarines ready to go to sea.

Man I need a vacation soon. Wait, we leave for the World tomorrow afternoon to have a adult trip including drinking around the world again.

Mike

The Carr Family is going to participate in the Fish Extenders :yay:

Marlene - yes, I'm traveling solo. I take several trips a year (cruises lately!) by myself. I have meet some really nice people traveling. Cruising is a bit more expensive b/c I basically have to pay for the whole cabin, but I watch for specials where the singles premium isn't as high. I got this one for about a 60% premium, but it actually is less per night for me than the 3 or 4 day ones.

DIS has some of the friendliest people & I really like that we can get to know each other via the boards before we actually meet. And FE sounds like so much fun.

My FurKids (yorkies) get to go to the doggie "spa" & see all their friends when Mom goes cruising. :woohoo:

:tinker: I think that is really neat that you cruise solo!!
I'll have to check for specials too.
Which sites do you use?

I am a DVC member and I am using points for this cruise (which is quite expensive), but I had points that I had to use.

I live in Ohio. We are flying down from Akron/Canton.
Where do you live? Close to the ports? Or do you have to fly into Orlando also?

I have cruised several times, but this is the first time that I have used a message group.
It's really fun getting to know the others that will be on the cruise.

I am hoping to find someone for my 9-year old granddaughter to pal with :)

And I am racking my brain to come up with something unique for the FEs.
That sounds like a lot of fun.

Hi aussieinvasion :)
Please add my family to the Cruisers list - Marlene (?), DS - Brian, DDL - Jennifer, DGD - Shannah (age 9). Cabin #7564
I would also like to participate in the Fish Extenders, but I have to read more about it.
I don't quite understand it.

I think that I am in TROUBLE. Since I was directed to this site, I have done very little around the house :(
I am having too much fun reading all the posts and checking everything out.

Yeah, last weekend when my husband didn't have a single pair of clean underwear (he has plenty), he was (seriously) mad at me...'Can we have 1 day without Disney?' That's when I knew that we had to stop the magnets, FE designing, etc. and get the house done first:goodvibes We are planning 2 cruises, not back to back, but a month apart, so it is ALL DCL at my house lately...
Marlene, Aussieinvasion will pick you up and add you when she gets back on:goodvibes Thanks for leading the thread Aussieinvasion, again, we should give you an extra special treat in your FE for your hard work:lovestruc

I lost weight before my first 2 cruises, and gained more than I lost both times. I am trying a different strategy this year...I am waiting until I get home. So, maybe i will be double in a couple of months...hope not..but looking forward to the yummy food:cloud9:

Marlene, your DGD will have my Brooke (9) and Disneyminnie's son Preston (9) if he stays in the Lab. He will probably have a choice since he's turning 10..

Becky,
would love to come to the service, is it on deck? Communion on the water, what better way to remember:lovestruc

prdaniel:cheer2: You are a girl! Hooray!! I may be solo with you, my DM lives 6 hrs away, so she may steal my girlies and leave me to myself:cloud9:

Mike, 7 days a week!!! UGH! Well, then, we will just have to truly be laborless for 7 days on the boat:dance3:

From what I understand, the weekly service is led by a member of the cruise staff in one of the theaters.

I am a bit stymied by DCL's response. The only other experience I have with leading worship aboard ships is on NCL, and they have always been very happy to have someone do it. The events coordinator went out of her way to find us bread, wine, and a suitable cup to use. (I think we used a margarita or martini glass last time! LOL)

In the past, before hooking in with NCL, we'd considered doing a service for the roll call participants, anyone who wanted to come, and do it on a balcony or other isolated space out on deck. I'm with you -- couldn't get better! :lovestruc

My husband wanted me to post his ideas for cruise names. He had a bunch of ideas, but I told him the criteria was that "Labor" had to be in the name. Some are cute, some are weird. But, I promised to post them all so here goes:

NO-LABOR-OARS Cruisers
LABOR-OARS! Play on “laborers”
Labor of Love Cruise
Sans Labour (French for No work/labor)
YADROBAL (Labor day backwards)
YADROBALON (No labor day backwards)
Not into Labor Cruise
Labor-less and Penny-less Cruise

From reading the recent posts, it sounds like there may have already been a decision made about the name...

I :tink: Marlene

Marlene - I grew up near Medina. I have lived in Orlando since 2000, but I thought it was a small world. My parents moved to FL a few years ago, so except for a few college friends I rarely talk to people from "back home!"

Hi Keggy,
Nice to meet someone from the Buckeye state.
I look forward to meeting in person on the Magic :)

Hello to all of you! I wanted to get an introduction into the lingo that you folks use here on this board before I introduced our family. So if someone would be so kind as to help me out with the information about us that you guys are interested in hearing as well as the acronyms that you are using it would be greatly appreciated.

Jarrod:cool1:

:welcome:

Hi Jarrod

I'm fairly new to this site too - just learning my way around by playing :)

:tinker: Marlene, DS: - Brian :mickeyjum, DDL - Jennifer ::MinnieMo, DGD - Shannah (age 9) pluto:

We are from Akron, Ohio (just south of Cleveland)

Who is coming on the cruise? Where do you live?
Have you cruised before?

acronyms that I know are: DH - darling husband; DW - darling wife; DS -Darling Son; DD -Darling Daughter, DDL - Darling Daughter-in-law; DGD - Darling GrandDaughter.
FE - Fish Extender (explained on p.1, 36, & 46)

There is a site that explains different acronyms. But I can't find it right now :confused3
I'll keep looking :flower3:
