Discussion question!

I was just wondering... for the men in the group, who's doing tux vs suit for the dress up nights? DH will be doing suit as he hardly ever wears it and at least this way it gets some use. I also like that we can kinda dress it up or dress it down depending on the night. I don't think he'd feel comfortable using a tux for all 3 nights - formal, semi-formal, and Palo.

Also.. who's dressing up for pirate: night? We might be doing Palo that night, so would probably skip bringing the gear just to save on space.

I've gone back and forth on this. I had my mind set on renting a tux but now I may just use my suit. I thought it would have been cool to dress up in a tux for formal night, but that money might be better used elsewhere.

(Don't read any further Jennifer!)

I may still try and surprise Jennifer with it though. I mean...how many times do you get to go on a Disney cruise? Well, maybe that is a bad question. :lmao:

*Warning* Mushy & May Cause Tears*

This is a Post to ALL of you :grouphug:

I would really like to Thank each and every one of you for the kind words and praise for my Son and me as a Mom :sad1:

It wasn't always this easy.. Well yes. he was, he is laid back like me.. But prior to Andy (DH) my DS & I went through some rough patches with his Bio Father.. He was, well IS an alcoholic who liked to show his "authority" and we had more then 1 police officer to our house to control him..

At one point DS was so afraid his father would hurt him next that he was having nightmares and walking in his sleep.. :guilty:

DS & I have been with Andy for almost 9 years now.. Andy adopted him as his own a year after we married :goodvibes

DS's Bio Father look at it as a way to get out of the $35,000 in back child and spousal support he owed us.. :sad2: which really hurt that he could put a price tag on his son.. but.. at least That chapter had finally ended..

DS is an honor roll student and Loves to help people. He is a Volunteer First Aider & he also is a Peer Leadership volunteer for tweens who run away due to abuse & neglect.. He helps collect donations for the Children's center of food, clothes, toys, money whatever he can and DH & I am VERY very proud of him

Ok so before I start to blubber over here I just wanted to again Thank each of you for your thoughts, praise & kind words...

I can't wait to meet you ALL in December !!! :cheer2:

What an amazing kid and I have no doubt that you are a big influence in how he came through all of those challenges that life threw at him. :grouphug:

PS: I like 1st Class! :thumbsup2

Yep, I pay for everything with a credit card to get miles. (Although I just switched to a Disney Visa) Our first trip to WDW/Disney Cruise we flew first class on UA nonstop LAX-MCO for $245 r/t per person!

I got totally spoiled in North Dakota. I got a NWA credit card and charged everything on it. Between that, and all of my temporary duty flights I earned enough miles each year to be "Silver Elite". So everytime I flew they upgraded me to first class if available. :thumbsup2

I'm using my last big chunk of UA miles to upgrade to Business Class on the Transatlantic flights in December.

Wendy, they'll be thrilled to have a "tour guide" especially a "big girl". Of course B's first question will be "are you a princess??" princess:

We'll see if she brings her Tinkerbell "So NOT a Princess" Visor. :rotfl:

I'm coming down with a horrible cold (again) courtesy of DGD.

We love train travel and have lots of vacation time, so it's fine with us!
Beth

Hope you feel better soon Beth!

We took the train to London and also Amsterdam. It was definitely a nice way to travel.

Thanks! There's two things I hate about LA... the traffic, and the lack of Wal-marts. I miss Wal-Mart :sad1:

Growing up in SoCal, I never saw a Wal-Mart until I moved to New Mexico in my late 20s. By the time I moved back to California in 2001 (San Diego) they had a few Wal-Marts, but yes the horrendous traffic makes it so hard to get around.:drive:

From San Diego we moved to Grand Forks North Dakota. We LOVED it there. Never any traffic. You could do errands all over town in 30 minutes. And we had a Wal-Mart and a Super Target.

I picked up a Pirate costume from buycostumes.com and of course Jasmine will have hers.

Ok... funny story.
He had to call and go through all our security information with them to verify it hadn't been stolen by some crazed Disney fan taking a whole new wardrobe on vacation with them. :lmao:

I'm thinking I'm going to give them a call before the cruise and tell them not to freeze it again if they happen to see some purchases coming from the Caribbean ;)

That is funny! Usually when my card goes crazy like that they increase my limit! Oh,that is helpful... Actually I had my card frozen recently b/c of an online order, I don't know why that looked so odd. But when I spoke to them they told me to notify them before we leave on our trip in Dec so they wouldn't do the same b/c of the foreign charges. It's on my to-do list...

They're not ..... I promise! :rolleyes1

My dh got a pedicure before our last trip south (no polish) and looooooved it. I had one too (yes polish) and I'd highly recommend it, even for the boys! Even his involved lots of scrubbing, warm water, and a foot and calf massage. He said (have I told this story here before?) it's the closest he ever came to cheating on me. :lmao:

Dh has a new jacket he wants to wear, so no tux. He has a ton of silk shirts and linen pants he loves to wear (much shorter season for that sort of thing here!!) so that'll be his dress of choice for dinner, but he's bringing jacket and tie. I have a below-the-knee dress and am still looking for a full length one, but if I don't find it the one I have will do. I'd really like to find a jacket for ds (7), but that's harder to come by.

I have pirate outfits for the kids, and am keeping a keen eye on the after-Hallowe'en sales for us. If not, we'll try to just do tropical, but we're up for it...

Oh...Happy (Canadian) Thanksgiving everyone! Yep, it's turkey day here. I have many reasons to be thankful this year.

And I have a cute little Thanksgiving Mickey topper on the car. He's a pilgrim Mickey, totally NOT Canadian, but we have enough American icons that people get it. I love my Disney toppers, we bought a big bag at DTD with the seasonal ones. We have a few "all occasion" ones like Tink and the Incredibles. Think we'll put Nemo on the rental car when we come for the cruise. ;)

On our first cruise I only wore a suit. Before the next cruise I found a very good deal on a tux so I bought it. I have worn the tux at least once on our cruises and I'm sure that my DW will want me to this time. :cool2:

I do plan to dress up as Mr Gibbs again.

You didn't ask if my feet had been pedicured :confused3 just if they had red polish.

I love a "Spa Pedicure"! After my hip replacement it was one of the first things I wanted done when the doctor released me ...... just no polish. :rolleyes1 My DW and I go together.

You'll love Business Class on international flights. It's better than First Class on USA only flights. I've flown to Brazil, Japan, China, Korea, and Mexico many times, and a couple of those times got upgrades from Business Class to First Class. All with American Airlines or Continental. One time when flying to Brazil, they offered me a $1000 travel voucher and three connecting seats in Coach to give up my Business Class seat. I took it, and stretched out on three seats for the 8 hour flight. That voucher sure was nice.

I don't own a suit, so I might be buying one before we go. If not then I'll be semi-formal with nice pants and a tie :)

Well we are one step closer to DVC. :cool1: We set up an appointment for later this month and will be driving down to stay for a couple of nights. There is a great deal we found on one of the Disney info sites and we are staying at the Beach Club Villas on the cheap. We are going to meet with them our first day there and then think about it while we spend the next day at Epcot and BCV. We hope to have our mind made up by the time we leave. I am not commitment phobic (ask Jennifer :)), but the money involved in this is making me think completely through it. Oh well, at least the 2 night trip will hopefully make it up to Jennifer and the kids since they didn't get to go with me to the manager offsite. :goodvibes Now we have another Disney trip to plan and look forward to. :woohoo:

That's exciting, Bill, and a fun trip to plan! How neat to be driving distance also, makes it much more do-able.

Agreed. We flew business class on British Air from DC to London and it was incredible. I just flew a few weeks ago first class on USAirways from Charlotte to LA and it didn't even compare, but then again, I slept most of that one. But having extra booty room is always nice!

Brack, I always love looking at your DCL photos....even if you have other motives than purely our enjoyment! :lmao: pirate:

Brack,

I've gotta say... I love your pictures. Do either you or your wife scrapbook? So many people take the usual pictures, but I love the one of the sandals on the sand. That would make a great scrapbooking page! I've gotten together so many scrapbooking supplies, but haven't started yet. I'm not really the creative type and I'm afraid they won't turn out too well. :headache: But you've inspired me to start! I'm going to make sure to take some unusual pics this time.

And the Christmas photos are really getting me excited! We've never cruised at Christmas before and I can't wait to see all the differences.

Your scrapbook really is a reflection of YOU. I also am not very creative, and my scrapbooks are not elaborate, but they are MINE and therefore perfect! I know yours will be too! Just jump in there and make YOUR scrapbook
