I would just like to make a statement and then get off my "soap box":

:surfweb: I have been on here the past few months getting to know some great people. I've enjoyed all our chats. However, lately it feels like this thread has been used to just build up the post count and get pirates. This is somewhat killing the joy of being on here for me. People come on to get pirates and then vanish. So, I am going to give the DISboards a break for awhile and will check back in occasionally to see what you're up to. I don't have the time or patience to read through ten pages a day of song lyrics and movie quotes. I am sure Bill will be on here, but I have to give it a break. I'll see you all onboard with my lime green shirt and a BIG smile. I can't wait to see you onboard. It is going to be a GREAT cruise!:cool1:

I understand. Check in when you can. :thumbsup2

we just got back from the park and I missed a pirate: man I need to get my priorities straight.....:rotfl2:
will catch up in a bit.

At VWL we felt like the staff in WL treated us like we were "over there" and said Welcome Home only as an after thought. This was a year ago though and we did submit a comment card stating this, so they may have changed that feeling. I know Brack and Annette just went and were very happy there. He can give you their perspective. We have stayed at BCV and we liked it there alot also. SSR is dedicated and heard AKL is going to have their own DVC check in, so it must be an issue with more folks than just us.

I would say that I agree with Angie's observation here.

I liked being close to the bus stop and the main part of the resort. Some of the other resorts are really spread out and it is more difficult to move around them. VWL seemed a little more compact and homey.

We visited the BCV area. It was beautiful but I think we would prefer VWL or AKL for it's ambience. I think each resort does appeal to different people. At least Angie and I like coffee at Cove Cafe!
:thumbsup2

Yes we do! We have many common likes. I guess that is why Disney themes them differently, to have something for all of us.

:) Thank you for the info. I am leaning towards going for the best offer since we too now like to travel during the slower months and would have a decent chance of booking at a resort other than our home one. Thank you everybody for the information as well as your opinions. Now I need to pay some attention to the person on my other shoulder that isn't dressed in red holding a pitchfork. :) Good night (morning)!

Still haven't had a chance to catch up yet but I have some awesome news
I went to play bingo with my mom and she won $100 and I wond $500:banana:   :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Going to help Annette pack. She's off to Princeton, WV with another Officer for the weekend. It's just the boys at home this weekend. I wish JoJo could cook. :confused3

Bill- just a little nudge to push you over to the dark side, how about DVC in Hawaii I can't wait to take my mom, she has always wanted to go, all of her brothers and sisters have been but she hasn't......yet.

Safe journey for Annette. You and JoJo the DIS dog enjoy your quiet time together.

Thank you!! I started keeping track of the pirates just to encourage people to post. After all it really is like pulling a slot machine handle when you get to those last few posts. And its fun when there are multiple people on at the time.

However, if the pirate thing is taking over the thread, then maybe we should stop keeping track? I'm much rather have my insomniac friend online than get a pirate:.

I also don't have time to sift thru 20 pages of posts at a time.

What does everyone think?

The first week in Dec is tough for DVC bookings even though it is low season. The owner meetings are that week and lots of DVC folks just seem to like to go that week. We are among them! ;)

Yeah, I noticed that the hotel only discounts are blacked out the nights I'm staying. That's one reason I wanted to try to get this membership confirmed quickly.

Is the second week in December usually better? I like to travel in early December, but I could plan on doing the cruise the first week.

If you decide you want to buy into VWL, you can also check for resales. The sponsor of the DVC forum has a resale list.
