Greetings, Folks!

DH & I are headed down to O-Town from 9/22 through 9/29. We go to US/IOA four to six times a year, but we've never gone to HHN. Reasons being: Crowds and expense.

We are, however, HUGE horror flick fans.

I see that HHN begins on the Friday night before our trip is over, 9/28. We're FL residents, Preferred Pass Holders. Are any breaks given to either FL residents or APHs on tix? Is the first night a good night to go?

I'll be honest: I see things like waiting 180 minutes for a "house," and I'm leery. We do theme parks at dead times of the year. The most we wait for anything is maybe 30 minutes. Is opening night that busy?

Anyway, your expert opinions are totally appreciated.

Oh! If it makes any difference, we're staying offsite in our timeshare right around the corner from USO. We have no kids and we like to party it up.

ETA: I did find the opening night rate of $25.95 per person for Preferred Passholders. Again, would it worth 50 bucks for DH & I on the first night?

Thanks again :)

I'll be there opening night this year and spending the $$ is DEFINATELY worth it. HHN is the biggest and best Halloween event in the country! The AP rate is usually better than the FL resident rate. I remember opening weekend last year being busy but not as bad as towards the end of the month. You might want to purchase the EP for that night and be assured of seeing everything.

Ahhh ... so you can purchase an EP? Is it for the rides, the "houses," or both?

Any idea what it runs pricewise?

Thanks so much for the response! The hubby & I are really leaning towards it.

To see Leatherface in real life!!!

(That one was for you, Shawn)

The Express Passes are good for both rides and houses during that night...just like during the day. I'm not sure of the cost since it fluxuates depending on the dates. The website has the EP price for opening weekend as $35.99/per person. I've seen the EP as high as $60.00 towards the end of HHN. That might be an option for you.

I'll also be going to my first HHN this year, I got tickets for 9/29. I have a couple questions though. If your in the park during the day, can you get a bracelet and stay in the park, or do they make everyone leave before the event starts then go back in through the turnstiles? Are there any strategies, or is it just a matter of get there early, and hit as many of the houses as fast as you can? Also, I know it's different every year, but what is the average wait time for a house?

if you are in the park in the daytime and have the hhn ticket for that night, go to the stay and scream area to wait.
you do not have to leave the park and reenter for hhn.

there should be 2 different stay and scream areas at the studios.
any employee can direct you there.

it opens at 5 and you wait there until security gives the ok that the park is clear of the day guests. most times, you are released from that s & s holding area and can start the houses before the general public is let in.

did you buy the add on ticket for hhn?
that would be the s & s one. it is cheaper than the regular admission ticket but not as cheap as the AP discounted hhn ticket.

I got the AP discount tickets. Does that make a difference vs the s and s ticket?

the ap discount is cheaper than the stay and scream ticket this year.

you can go to stay and scream area and wait there.
as long as you have a valid hhn ticket, you can go to that holding area.

i do.

if you leave the park and not go to the s & s area, you will be in a long line to reenter the park for hhn. the gates will open at 6:30. you also will be in that line for awhile as you have to pass thru the metal detectors.

so, don't leave the park at 5:00 when it closes.

in the past, you could do 3 houses before the general public is let in, but that would depend on the day and the time the all clear is given and you leave the holding area.

with the ep, the longest wait i have had on a saturday night has been 30 minutes. shortest wait, walk in or less than 5 minutes.
