04/22/07 April 22nd Wonder

Dawn,

I'd love to eat with Fiona, but I think she may not want to eat with me! :) She gets the wiggles after 1/2 hour at a restaurant, so I try to be considerate of that. *sigh* One day, though!

Linda,

*chuckle* We probably will pass each other! I would like to meet, though. Do you want to wear buttons or something to recognize each other at a specific spot for Sail Away?

I hope both of you have great weekends. Linda, I especially hope it is a quiet weekend for you and your patients.

I like the button idea...perhaps they can be made from the lime green Mickey heads found at Home Depot? Any other suggestons?

What dinner seating does everyone have? We are main seating....not sure what rotation I am hoping for. We have Palo on the second night so I am hoping not to miss Animator's Palette. Of course we can always go to dinner just for the show and then up to Palo to actually eat. Our Palo dinner is at 8 pm.

I am already stressing about the potential weight gain. I think I might be doing lots of early morning laps on the track.

I have to go to Home Depot this weekend, so I'll check for LGMHs.

We have Late seating.

I thought calories don't stick on vacation? ;)

Brandie

I'll be heading to Home Depot too this weekend and will look for Green Mickey Paint Samples! Like the idea of buttons too!

We have early seating. Does anyone know other than Dinner and Brunch, does the 4 day cruise offer the wine tasting at Palo's? Or is that only on the 7 day?

Oh... and rumor has it cruise cuisine doesn't have calories!!!!

A good place to meet up would be the Promenade Lounge around 3:00 the day of departure - that's before the lifeboat drill and sailaway party. How does that sound?

Promonade Lounge, 3 p.m......

sounds like a plan!

Now as to those cruise calories, I am SO glad to hear that they don't stick, because I plan on trying lots and lots of things on the cruise!

I wish Las Vegas calories were the same....LOL. I am still dealing with those.

Which deck is this?

No getting out for me--we're in a blizzard. Time to work on taxes, since I can't get out of the house and escape them! :)

Thanks!
Brandie

The Promenade Lounge is on Deck 3.

A blizzard doesn't sound like much fun. And, taxes sound even worse unless your getting a big refund!

It gets better... Hubby's payroll people messed up on one of his deductions and his W-2 is wrong. They've been pulling for day care every 2 weeks instead of twice a month, so we've overpaid the dependent care account and underpaid our taxes... *argh* I just found the problem, too.

Brandie

Blizzard? Taxes? EEKS! YOU GET FIRST DIBS on the SUNSHINE and WARM TEMPS on April 22!!!!!

We just got back from a fun day (ALL DAY) at the Passport office. We put in to have them rushed since we are at the 2 month mark. Don't want to chance it.

Count us in to meet at 3pm on Deck 3/Prom. Deck!

Think Hubby has an idea for Pirate Night costume!! yEs .... HUBBY/IDEA/ COSTUME!!!! Shocking! pirate: But excited to see what's up his sleeve!!!!

:yay:

I sooooooo call dibs on the sunshine! :lmao: My mom is currently stuck in the San Antonio Airport due to her plane getting diverted from Dallas-Fort Worth (which is shutdown due to a major sandstorm). She doesn't have to be anywhere tomorrow, so she was rolling :lmao: from my efforts to get her ANYWHERE from San Antonio... You could only go from SAT to Minneapolis... the OTHER shut down airport!!! :rotfl2: All the other flights went to DFW... ergo, nowhere!!!

re: passports... Do you have a spare original or certified copy of your birth certificates? Just in case? You can order them online, I hear.

Oh, yeah... And hubby was "watching" dinner for me while I was helping mom... Anybody want Pizza Hut? The TV was on. :happytv: I hope the pot can be saved!

Brandie

p.s. - Mom said she got home about midnight.

Morning everybody....or should I say "goodnight" LOL

I have been up all night. I work for 2 group homes serving teenagers and young adults with Autism. I am on call for the weekend. It was supposed to be a quiet weekend so I had all sorts of stuff planned. Well, then "stuff" happened.

At 2:40 p.m. I had a call out for third shift the same night. There is no relief staff this weekend so I get to work the shift...yeah!!

At 3:30 I get a call from one of my houses that one resident has had a bad outburst injuring a staff member. He needs to go to the ER. There is no relief staff so I get to go in....yeah!!

At 6:30 he returns stating that he is now on light duty and cannot work tomorrow. Not a problem I think....we have several residents going home on day visits and will only need one staff for most of the day. I scramble to cover the rest of the day and gead home to get only 3 hours rest.

I come back to work, work all night, come home and am just settling down to breakfast before I have to get some sleep and I get a call from the teacher of one of the residents who was supposed to be going on a field trip today....it has been cancelled. So, now we have only one staff and we need another. Guess who gets to go in????? Sleep, who needs it anyway.

There are days when I SO LOVE ( read the extreme sarcasm here) my job.

At least I have a wonderfully restful, hopefully sunny and bright cruise to look forward to.

Linda

Linda, you -need- the cruise! Geez! *empathy*

I wish you luck getting sleep... today? tonight? Soon!

Brandie

I go off call on Monday. I have a meeting both Monday and Tuesday morning. I should be able to take Wednesday and Friday off from work and then have the entire weekend off.

I can make it until then, I know I can!

Linda

Let's make a promise if we all see Linda on either Deck 9 or 10 in a lounge chair with her eyes shut, warm CRUISE sun beating down and a tropical CRUISE drink next to her.... we don't wake her!!!! LET HER SLEEP!!!!!:thumbsup2

Well the weather guys and gals said we were suppose to get MAYBE half to an inch of snow before it was to change over to freezing rain this afternoon. Looking at my clock... a bit after 2 in the afternoon.... DD just stuck a measuring stick outside ..... it's measuring 5 inches and not a drop of freezing rain in sight!! I wonder what's up with all this HIGH QUALITY/TOP NOTCH weather equipment they hype about to make these predictions.

Anyways...... any one know about the princesses on the 4 day cruise? When/where? DCL Vets out there.... insight??? princess:

I agree on the Linda nap... WOw.... Maybe leave her cookies or cake of the day for when she wakes up, though! :) She'd never know which of us it was!

About your weather... Are you living near Denver??? Our weather is unpredictable like that. But I'd much rather have snow than freezing rain, though. Are your kids doing the "SNOW DAY!!!" dance already? :)

Brandie

My daughter couldn't jump out of her PJ's and into her snowgear/attire fast enough when she heard me leave to shovel the driveway. We built our first snowman (or more like a snow blob!). We're about to head back out in a few to go back at the driveway and take some photos. Trees look like they are painted with snow. Maybe I'll bring a radio out there and play some Jimmy Buffet CD's while we do it ! "Margaritaville" seems appropriate!:woohoo:

*chuckle* Too funny!

Thanks for the good wishes everybody.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse today I got a call at 3:40 p.m. from one of my houses wanting to know where I was. Well, I replied I am not coming in until 4:30, when one of the more difficult residents gets home from a home visit so I can provide some support if she needs it. Well, the employee on the phone says that she was told that I would be in at 3 to work the full shift!!!! ***!!! So, I call the person in charge of scheduling and she tells me that the afternoon person had a family emergency, but that she had heard that I would be there anyway so it was okay. How nice of everyone to tell me! I had planned on making sure that Megan was okay and then getting to home and a nap. Now I am working until 11 p.m. Luckily all the kids are being really good, and I can sneak away for a bit and type this note.

I just know that there is something good in all of this for me. On call rotations can either be really good, with no call outs or emergencies or really bad with tons of both. This was a really bad one.

How many more hours until noon tomorrow? Bring on the sun, an frozen cruise drink, a lounge chair and a snack!--How I wish I could have all of those tomorrow instead of waiting until April.

Linda
