Yay! :cool1: I'm going to pick mine up next week after my anatomy scan when I'm on that side of town. I haven't been to this office, but the one at our last duty station always acted like we were inconveniencing them. One time they were just standing outside smoking, both at the same time, and just had us wait for 15 minutes while they leisurely smoked and chatted. But in the end, off to the happiest place on earth we'll be going!:woohoo:

Maybe they're just bummed watching people get tickets for Disney every day while they're stuck working? It's why I could never be a travel agent! Haha

Has the Dis not caught up to my #TeamAugustForever hashtag from Facebook? I totally plan on sticking around! (:

This is the second year for the Team August thread! We started Team August 2013 almost immediately after returning home from our 2012 trips!

I know, right?? It's looking good for us to be there for the birth lol.

Off to meet the future monarch of Great Britain hahaha.

I'm hoping the heir holds out until you arrive! How cool will that be to be there for the announcement! Take lots of pictures and have a fabulous trip! Safe travels!

We were just talking about this on the facebook page today. There is a bunch of us that are planning to stick around over there for sure. Not sure how much will stay here since it's easy to share pics and such over there.

I can't believe I never posted here!

We're going to be at Boardwalk Villas from August 25th until August 31st. It will be my family of 5 (me, DH, 3 children ages 9, 7, 5), my step-dad (we sadly lost my mom over Christmas :( ), and our wonderful nanny. We are taking the auto train for the first time which should be an action-adventure! :thumbsup2
Our ADRs:

8/26 5pm Akershus (I don't know if my DH has a crush on one of the princesses or if we go for my daughter - who is rapidly outgrowing the princesses - or for my youngest son who wants to marry Ariel - but this is a must-do on every trip!)

8/27 6pm Todd English's Bluezoo (my daughter's favorite restaurant at Disney!)
8/28 7:45am Cape May Cafe (DH and dad will be playing golf)
8/28 7:45pm Flying Fish Cafe (date night for me and DH)
8/29 4:25pm Be Our Guest
8/30 5:45pm Garden Grill (our traditional last night dinner)

36 days until we leave for Disney. 37 days until we arrive!

Amanda

Hey Amanda!

We're going to be there at the same time again this year, we're the 23-30, maybe we'll run into each other. We're staying at Yacht Club this time.

I'm interested to hear how the auto train goes.

Congrats on your DVC purchase too!

Just got back from the Disney store. Picked up some shirts for the girls that were on sale and then used the coupon for an additional 25% off. Woohoo! It makes it feel more real, now that we are starting to plan outfits!

4 weeks to go and I can't wait. It is starting to become more real now that we're within 30 days. It's time to ramp up getting supplies and such because before we know it we'll be all packed and ready to go.

I've been stalking BOG ADRs for that week and I think I'm at a point where I'm just content with lunch. We've got some pretty cool ADRs already and we'll have two days at MK so we can get two shots at lunch there. We had lunch there last year during the soft opening and it's a beautiful restaurant, so it will be cool to see again but we have already seen it, so I think we'll be ok.

I was looking at crowd calendars and wait times on rides and such and I think that we'll be in much better shape than we were last year at Thanksgiving.

Now if the weather cooperates that's another thing.

QFT (question for tomorrow) What would you do or what have you done if it rained all week or a hurricane/tropical storm came through?

We were in Disney when sandy came through in 2011, just a rainy day, it passed quick enough and we enjoyed dancing in the streets at Hollywood studios. We watched the weather every morning to see where and when it would make landfall. I understand Disney has great preparations in the event of a hurricane so we don't worry, and in the event we can't travel home because of weather... Well that just means more disney time for us lol!

How do I get on the Facebook group?

"You are an animator? That is so cool. Can you tell us a bit about your job/career?"

Sure! And yes, I am an animator. I worked in both feature films as well as television. I also did design, storyboards, and development work as well.
But my main job was as an animator.
After I finished a film called "Cats Don't Dance", I had an offer from Dreamworks to work on 'Prince of egypt' and then go onto 'road to el dorado'. But I passed on it so I could work with a director named Brad Bird, on a great film called "Iron Giant".
It was a challenging time because every studio was trying to get into the animation biz..but doing it wrong. I'd say those two movies were amongst the most fun out of everything I did ("Cat dont Dance" and "Iron giant"), along with working on tv shows like the "Simpsons" .

CG was really still in its infancy so everything we were doing was still 'hand drawn'. Every bit of it. From the designs, to the animation, to the clean up. All hand drawn. Sometimes at 24 drawings a second!
It was a truly exciting time to be in the business. I was fortunate enough to work with some truly great people, and meet so many wonderful legends.
Frank Thomas, Marc Davis, Ollie Johnston, (disney's old animators), Glen Keane,Maurice Noble, just to name a few.

But....after about 12 years of it....I started to get a little burned out, AND the industry was just starting to get unstable...So..I decided to go back to my illustrator roots and since 2002, i've been working as an illustrator doing work for books, magazines, and video game developers. I had the fun pleasure of working on Disney's "Epic Mickey" game (The first one).
I still dip my toe into the animation end for games. Doing storyboard work as well as supervising some of the animation as well.

Anyway! That's it in a nutshell.
Hope it wasn't too boring! LOL!

Wear ponchos and go on as planned! This actually happened to us in 2008, our very first trip to WDW. We were there during Faye when it rained for 7 out of the 9 days. It wasn't the most comfortable b/c our shoes were always wet but we still did everything we had planned. And I think that trip prepared us for anything. Also, every trip after that has just been better and better.

Its a BEAUTIFUL day here in St. Louis--hot but we can handle it. The reason it is so good is that Josh did REALLY good with his treatment last night. NO side effects at ALL and he slept comfortably all night. Due to an increase in steroids, he's ravenously hungry, but that's ok. We can handle that! Doctor said that if he continues to tolerate the treatment this well, we WILL be able to go to Disney in 11 days!! So, to celebrate, we are watching Pirates of the Caribbean and talking about vacation!!! Then, to top it ALL off, I read that they have postponed refurb of the Tiki Room!! Its not like that would make or break our vacation, but its nice to know it will be open!!!

THANK YOU, ALL of you, for the prayers, happy thoughts, and Pixie Dust!! I KNOW that's why Josh is doing so well!! If it weren't for our friends being so thoughtful and positive, it would be a hard road for us!!!

So happy for you and Josh--what wonderful news! I pray he continues on this path and that your vaca is just perfect!

We have a car rental, so we're in good shape either way.

We can/will go to Disney Quest, shopping (the outlet malls, the Florida Mall, the Mall at Millenia and the Nike Clearance Store in Kissimeee), bowling, indoor mini golf (Putting Edge in Orlando and Glow Golf in Merritt Island), take in a movie at any of the area theaters, visit Wonderworks, the CSI Exhibit or the Titanic Experience, take in a daytrip to the Florida Aquarium in Tampa, or just enjoy a sleep in and relaxing day at our villa (rent or buy some new release DVD's, order in food, and we're good to go :thumbsup2).

We leave home one month from tomorrow. I can hardly believe how fast summer is going.
