ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

We are looking forward to trying Tonga Toast for the first time. We are planning on swinging by Captain Cook's before MK one morning to try it out!

Oh, I forgot to add Tonga Toast!! I have a breakfast ADR at Kona, but may just go to Capt' Cook's to get it first lol.

I also forgot about the yummy food at HDDR.

I'm going to gain 20 pounds on this trip!

I just read on the DIS that the Enchanted Tiki Room would be closed from 7/31-8/28. I can't find it listed as being closed on any other site (even Touring Plans). I find it surprising considering that Jungle Cruise will also be closed in Adventureland for many days during the same time period. Not my favorite attraction, but one that I love just because it's an original Walt (at least the one in DL) and one I would be sad to miss it.

Anyone know if it's true or not?

no, no, no, no, NO! Please say this isn't true. I love the Tiki Room...I'm in a small minority, but it really is one of my favorite things to do in the MK and just feels so "Disney" to me. :sad2:

Also not looking forward to the spillover crowds if two big attractions in Adventureland are closed at the same time.

Ok, I'll admit that I'm a little bored.

QOTD: What Disney food item are you most looking forward to?

Meal item I think it would be the Pork Shank at Gaston's Tavern. Dessert wise I think I'm wanting to try the Sand Pail or the Kitchen Sink.

Of course the best thing about Disney food is that it contains zero calories! :lmao:

Waffle sandwiches from tortuga tavern and my dole whip, also a Mickey shaped pretzel from Germany and of course a Mickey bar or 10 lol...

My favorite is also Beauty and the Beast. I selfishly snagged a BOG recipe even though the menu doesn't look spectacular and no one else in my family could care less about it lol.

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

:lmao: I've already warned my boys that we're getting in line for lunch at BOG at 10:30am on our first day at MK. The older ones really aren't interested, but I think they'll still be impressed by the theming. I always tell them there's one thing each trip I need them to do with me, and this is it for this trip ;)

Dinner at O'Hana - especially the bread pudding dessert :cloud9: Snack-wise would have to be a Dole Whip float :goodvibes

Well, I'm counting on your promise that Disney food contains no calories, because I'm most looking forward to the sand pail of ice cream from the Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach :thumbsup2 .

I also can't wait for our two character meals, one at Garden Grove (a first for us) and the second at Ohana, a family favourite.

In cleaning out our RV, I found our Mickey ponchos from 14 years ago!!! :yay: I can't wait to wear them proudly!! They still have tape on them from rigging them to cover my DD's stroller!! Can't believe it was that long ago...:teleport:

We are watching Enchanted on Disney right now, too!

I know, I cringe when Disney reuses voices too much or uses actors that are too recognizable as another character. It's like the time my DD wanted to know why Mary Poppins sounds and looks like Maria from Sound of Music. It takes away some of the magic when kids start realizing that one person is the voice or face behind many characters.
I read this to DH and he said "Well they are sisters of course!"

Ok, I'll admit that I'm a little bored.

Looking forward to trying for the first time: stuffed jalapeno pretzel, butterfinger cupcake, other flavored DoleWhip (allergic to pineapple) ALL of our ADRs!!!
DORK ALERT!!! DORK ALERT!!!
I'll be wearing these at our DisMeet in Epcot!!!
You are the QUEEN OF COOL!!! I wanna make some too!!

Nooooooooooo Say it isn't so!!!!! I LOVE the ETR!! Really my favorite memory from early childhood Disney trips! Only memory aside from getting lost!! LOL

Right there with ya!!

Last year I made them all wait in line with me for a picture with the dwarves at the MNSSHP!

Since pineapple is out...I highly recommend a citrus swirl from Sunshine Tree Terrace. It's like orange slush swirled with vanilla soft serve. I actually prefer them to Dole whips.:thumbsup2

Can I wait in BOG lunch line while Mom and my girls go ride or tour New Fantasy land??

Thanks for the tip. STT is at HS?

As far as food/snacks--I forgot about cupcakes!!! I will probably eat a cupcake a day LOL! What are your favorites?

Really???!!!! I HAVE to try this. It's sounds like a creamsicle in a cup!!
I am not a dole whip fan but this sounds marvellous!! I will even wear my "Orange Bird" shirt to MK that day:rotfl:

I think we discussed this before but I forget so I am asking again. Has anyone booked the premium beach chairs at Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach? I am highly considering it. Should I book now? I imagine they'd sell out fast in August. I'd love a cabana but they are way too steep for my budget on this trip.
My other question is when I look at the chairs it appears there are 2 large loungers and 2 smaller chairs. I think that would be enough for the Dh and I and our 2 kids? Or am I misreading it and we'll need to rent 2 sets of lounge chairs? Any thoughts?
I am still having the age old "Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon" debate. I've only been to Typhoon Lagoon. Dh and ds have been to both multiple times. I don't know if I want to add WP&M to our tickets because I don't know that I want to do two waterpark days. But the amount to add the WP&M is literally just a few dollars more than one water park ticket so we might as well. Decisions Decisions.:confused3

I must have joined in after this discussion lol... Tell me more? Where can i find the info on the chairs? The cabanas were way over our budget! Are there not good lounger chairs all over? Last trip we went to aquatica and they had tons of loungers under shaded umbrellas for free use.

Both parks have shaded beach chairs in a private access area close to the food options and in convenient places to the rest of the park. I think I just googled the name of the park and "premium chairs" to read about them. They are $40 for two loungers but all the pictures show 2 smaller chairs with them. It's a more comfortable area for me to leave my stuff and it beats having to be there right at opening to get a good spot. They do often fill to capacity in the summer :)

Yes, delish! The Orange part reminds me of frozen orange juice concentrate. It's slushy, but tastes a little tart like real juice, not orange kool-aid. My favorite lesser-known snack.:)
