“IT’S OUR MOTHER DAUGHTER TRIP!” Our Spontaneous Getaway - April 2011 COMPLETE 9/13

Just caught up!

Love the convo you had in line while waiting for Aladdin!

You also got some great photos with him and Duffy!

Good luck at college! It really isn't as scary as people make it out to be

I love the pink pajamas penguins on the bottom line! I remember singing that along with my friends when we watched it in music class in middle school  Yeah I don't even want to think about how long ago that was :rolleyes1

The year statues are so cute! I am so upset I missed them!

Beautiful pic off the back of Maelstrom!

Your food in China looks soo good!!

Aw Duffy is so adorable!

Beautiful pictures of AKL! I really hope to stay there someday!

Great update! Hope you find time to update again soon!

Beautiful pictures of AKL! I think it would be so nice to walk out your patio and see all of those animals!

Good Luck at college! I took Sam yesterday, while it was a long day of moving, meetings and activies, it was a proud and emotional day.

Yay another update! I also learnt something new about The Lion King and love the topiaries! :thumbsup2

I agree in that the pic of Duffy with your mum is very cute!

Great animal pics and I hope college goes well for you. I'm sure you will be just fine and have nothing to be nervous about :goodvibes

Good luck moving into school :) I remember being so nervous for my first day. I was crying like crazy the night before move-in. Once I got settled in I really enjoyed it! I have mixed emotions about going back tomorrow but that is how i always feel about starting school. Love the lion king topiaries! So appropriate for you guys this trip! I also enjoyed hearing about the chinese zodiac signs. I am in the year of the ram/goat (since I was born in 1991). I think officially it is a ram but usually it looks more goat like. One trip we were walking by the puppet place in china and as a spur the moment thing i bought a goat puppet because of my sign. Love the Duffy picture, I know there are people who don't like him but i absolutely love him! Sad about the sunburn but yay for the color! I usually never get color on disney trips and it gets annoying having people ask me if i actually was in florida. can't wait for more :)

That's so neat China had topiaries for each of the Chinese zodiac signs! I'm a Tiger and it describes me pretty much to a T!

I don't think I will ever get tired of seeing pictures of AKL. It's such a beautiful resort!

Good luck at college Jess, I'm sure you'll have an amazing experience :goodvibes

Good luck in college! You're going to have so much fun.

The potstickers from China are one of my favorite WS snacks!

Love all the topiary pictures, so pretty.

Can't wait to read the new TR too!

HI! I just read all 3 of your trip reports this moring! They were all wonderful. Love the Frumps at WDW and you girls have so much fun together as well as with your family too! Love all your pictures- they really tell so much of the story! Looking forward to more updates and your new trip report! Good luck in college!!!! :)

Good luck with school, Jess! I'm sure you're reading this while in your dorm or something, so... I hope you have an awesome first day. (:

Oh wow! I never knew the lyrics said that. That's cool they have an English translation up on the lyrics sites. I may have to go look that. LOL @ "Pink Pajamas, Penguins on the bottom..." Remember that from your little trip video :D

Oooo... real interesting they had descriptions of the personalities of those born during the Chinese New Years. Did you get a picture of the year of the rat? I think that's what year I was born into.

Great pictures of Duffy! You guys seemed to have had a nice time with him. (: And I love the storybooks that line the queue to meet him :goodvibes And a big :thumbsup2 to another Fountain of Nations picture.

That's awesome you had a very energetic ride on Soarin'. It's always nice when you end up with a very enthusiastic group of people on a ride like Soarin'. :goodvibes

Sorry to hear about your burns, ouch! But yeah, you got some color, always a plus. I love your pictures around Kidani! Brings back memories of when I stayed there. I'm always drawn to the windows that surround Sanaa for some odd reason :rolleyes1 And the big window at Kidani that leads out to the observation area looks even prettier than I remember. So cool!

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Hahaha yeah I always just ask because I want all of the kids stuff haha
Oh my God Disneyland!?!? ahh i wanna go there so bad! I only went once and I was 12... I really want to go again! I hope you book everything soon - that sounds so fun!
Eeee I'm excited for my next TR too! It'll be a good one!
Faith was cute! And oooh I bet that would be fun! I wish I could go too!
Thank you!

Yes! I'm SO excited, I've been wanting to go for a while now. We're going to stay at Paradise Pier for 5 nights, should be fun. :goodvibes And hopefully Carsland will be up by then!

:cool1: Can't wait for the next TR.

Good luck in college! How exciting! :thumbsup2

Thanks for posting the translation of the lyrics. I always sing the beginning but it just sounds like a jumble of words. :lmao: And pink pajamas penguins on the bottoms does go with it! :thumbsup2

Love the animal topiaries of the birth years. My mom is a Rooster like you. :goodvibes I'm year of the rat Rat.

That Donald pinata part of the Grand Fiesta Tour cracks me up every time.

Aww, cute Duffy pictures! We never got to him this trip!

I just love first timers on Soarin'. It makes me feel like it's my first time, too! Once we had this boy sitting next to us, he was probably around your age or a little older and he was scared! :rotfl: He ended up loving it though. This trip I had a woman who spoke Spanish sitting next to me and I couldn't understand what she was saying but she was obviously having a great time! :goodvibes

I've read all your TR's to date, and have really enjoyed them. Can't wait to continue along on your adventure.

Have a great time in college take it all in, because like high school it will be over in the blink of an eye.

Awww man! I can't believe I was in Disney at the same time as all three frump princesses! :cutie: I wonder if we are in each other's pictures...

I'm a year of the rooster too. :goodvibes

Good luck at college!

just got caught up on your trip reports and i LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them!! :thumbsup2

they are helping me pass the time until i go in january. i've been having major disney fever & january is sooooo far away.:sad1:

best of luck in college!

That's really interesting about the Circle of Life, I had no idea that that was the English translation.

The grounds at AKL are so gorgeous, was this your first time staying there?

Good Luck at College Jess, I'm sure it will be a great experience for you:goodvibes

Haha me neither!
I actually stayed at AKL way back in the day... I think I was like 12 or 13. But that was even before Kidani! And we only stayed for like 2 or 3 night because we switched resorts. So this was my first time really immersing myself in the resort!
Thank you very much! It's still that awkward freshman phase now... but hopefully it'll get better soon!

Just caught up!

Love the convo you had in line while waiting for Aladdin!

You also got some great photos with him and Duffy!

Haha yeah, I love little moments like that!
And thanks!!

Good luck at college! It really isn't as scary as people make it out to be

Great update! Hope you find time to update again soon!

Thanks! (: It's not too bad so far... i just wish i was more into the school year because everything's still new and i have no idea who anyone is or where anything is. But one day i will understand!
Hahaha isn't that the best line ever? So funny. It sounds exactly like it!!
And aww you missed them? They were precious.
And thank you x5! I hope I have time to update soon, too! This whole college "welcome week" has a very planned schedule. But it'll be over soon!

Beautiful pictures of AKL! I think it would be so nice to walk out your patio and see all of those animals!

Good Luck at college! I took Sam yesterday, while it was a long day of moving, meetings and activies, it was a proud and emotional day.

Thank you! Yes, I agree. It's absolutely beautiful! We didn't have savanna view but we walked to the elevators and all of the animals were right there! It was lovely!
Thank you! I'm here now.. and we have welcome week till tuesday. It's painfully long and slow... ugh. But yeah yesterday was a long day. My poor Mom misses me. I miss her too! But I hope it'll all be okay soon. I can't wait till we're more settled into the year.

Yayy! I love them too!
Aww thanks!
And thank you! I'm here now... hopefully it gets a lot better in the upcoming weeks. I hate not knowing many people and all of these "ice breakers" they're making us do LOL

Good luck moving into school :) I remember being so nervous for my first day. I was crying like crazy the night before move-in. Once I got settled in I really enjoyed it! Thank you! I know... I cried yesterday when I said goodbye to my parents. It's so sad! Once the year is more in full swing I'm sure I'm gonna like it more. But right now it's just DRAGGING. ugh. I hope it gets better.
And aren't those all cool? Lots of fun. Haha I love that you bought a puppet! Kristen and I found a deer puppet.. it's fantastic.
I think Duffy is adorable... he's my new friend. :P
And HAHA i know exactly what you mean!! You just don't get tan in Disney, ya know? You're too busy to get tan!

Haha aww really? Yeah, those things are so cool!
And I agree.. so pretty!!
Thank you! I hope it gets better! The beginning is a little rough but once we're all settled in it'll probably be better.

Good luck in college! You're going to have so much fun.

The potstickers from China are one of my favorite WS snacks!

Love all the topiary pictures, so pretty.

Can't wait to read the new TR too!

Haha love Duffy! And yes, I agree! Soarin' was lovely!
Aww I love Sanaa! That update is coming up very soon! Be excited! And yeah, it's beautiful there!

I know exactly how you feel about that. I am very family oriented and am very close with my family so I had a very hard time leaving home the first time. I can also say from experience that usually it does get better. I do know alot of people that came back home but that overall is very unusual and about 95% of the time it does get easier and more fun to be at school. For me the best thing I ever did was join my sorority because that really helped me get more involved and get out of my shell. If you go to school close to home the closeness is another thing that will help the initial college drag. I love it now and I was a lot like you at this point my first year. and yes those puppets are AWESOME!!!!!! last christmas I actually gave mine to a greedy santa thing at a christmas party and everyone was competing for it!!!! It was very amusing and I loved that my gift was the gift to get. I have to thank disney for that one, lol :) I absolutely love Duffy! i have a Duffy stuffed animal that was from a couple of years ago when duffy was the disney bear. I absolutely love it! I do agree with the people who say that something is missing with the story but it doesn't change how i feel about the stuffed animal. I feel like the disney style of being in florida and not tanning is something you have to experience to get. can't wait to hear more :) also quick question, how do you get so many readers? I have a new pre-trip report called Celebrate with Mickey Mouse that i'm trying to get readers for and I was just wondering how you get the word out to people to read your reports.

Yes! I'm SO excited, I've been wanting to go for a while now. We're going to stay at Paradise Pier for 5 nights, should be fun. :goodvibes And hopefully Carsland will be up by then!

Oh my gosh that's going to be so fun! I only went to Disneyland once when I was 12... and I didn't even get to stay onsite. So it's one of my top priorities now to go there! You're going to have an amazing trip!
And thank you x2!
Hahaha I know what you mean about the beginning of the Lion King sounding like a jumble of words... I do the same thing! I need to memorize the legit ones.
Aww yay me and your Mom have the same animal!
And haha I know that's my favorite part of GFT.
You'll have to meet Duffy next time!
Aww that's a cute story about Soarin'! I bet they loved it!

I've read all your TR's to date, and have really enjoyed them. Can't wait to continue along on your adventure.

Have a great time in college take it all in, because like high school it will be over in the blink of an eye.

Hooray! Thank you for being such a great reader!
And thank you - the beginning is a little bit rough but I am excited for it to all kick in.

Where you really!? That's crazy! I hope you had a wonderful trip!! Yes, we'll have to look through out pictures and see!
And YES fellow rooster!
And thank you!

just got caught up on your trip reports and i LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them!! :thumbsup2

they are helping me pass the time until i go in january. i've been having major disney fever & january is sooooo far away.:sad1:

best of luck in college!

Aww! Thank you so much!! And I know... but it'll be here soon! I'm going in December again for my family trip and it seems like AGES away. I can't WAIT!
And thank you!!

Yeah, I've been having a hard day today... I miss my family a lot! But I want to join a few clubs and once classes start I think it'll get a lot better. I'll probably go home sort of frequently at first but I feel like I'm eventually gonna end up really liking it. It's just gonna take time.
HAHAHA that's so funny everyone was competing for the goat puppet! Was it expensive?? I never looked at the pricetags on those puppets before.
Part of me sort of wants a Duffy stuffed animal... he's to cute! LOL
And hmm... I honestly have no idea how I got so many readers! People just find my TR's.. or it spread by word of mouth.. and they end up here reading along with the story! I also put the link in my signature. And I actually did a PTR for the first TR, and I had such a difficult time getting readers because I think overall PTR's are not as commonly read. So, if you do a TR with a good story, good pictures, and have a good writing style, readers will just be there and ready to read! :)

Thanks for the advice, I kind of figured that was part of it because I never read PTR's myself. I just kind of started it because I was feeling impaitent for my trip lol. Plus I wanted to get a better handle on the way posting pictures and links and other things people post in trip reports work beforehand. I tried to do a trip report for my last trip in january of this past year (my school pretty much has all of january of which is great) but it kind of failed for many reasons one of which was being relatively new to the dis. yeah it was really amusing seeing everyone fight over it. I so did not think it would be as popular as it was. This same party the year before I had brought a smore maker which was popular as well but i expected that. The goats popularity came from out of the blue. I feel like the goat puppet was a little expensive but the puppet was relatively old when i used it in the grab bag so it was all ok. I totally reccomend getting a duffy just so you can get a couple of outfits for it. I really want to get some outfits for mine next january.

Yeah PTR's are a fun way to pass the time... they end up being more for yourself because a lot of people don't read them! But don't worry... you'll probably get readers for your TR! It's probably a good idea to practice with the pictures and stuff!
Another tip is to make sure your writing style is informative, helpful, and not too dense. People like to read TR's that are easy to pay attention too, so that's why I put a lot of spaces in mine (as you can see if you look, I press enter after a little paragraph or every few sentences) It makes the updates seem shorter and more enjoyable :thumbsup2 It's hard to pay attention to extremely long updates for a lot of people, so I try to keep them to the point! That would probably be my best advice for anyone trying to write a TR!
Haha I think that the uniqueness of a goat puppet probably made it desire able! Goats are just fun and frumpy animals! :goodvibes
And aww I'll consider it! He's expensive but very cute!

Your updates are great! I really feel like I am right there with you. I am a little sad that I wont get pics of myself with all of those cool topiaries, but I am confidant that I will still find some great photo ops. I am looking forward to meeting Duffy too.
Those chocolate covered strawberries look amazing. I am making a deer face just thinking about it!!
And I am sooo happy to hear that you bathrobe Princesses were together again and that more trip reports will follow! It is great to have that to look forward to.

I never knew the real translation for the Circle of Life either. That's very interesting.

Hope you're having fun at college! :goodvibes
