does the family actually get in line at that attraction without the other person, or do they wait outside of the ride for the FP runner? I've seen this alot on the boards. If the family gets in line then the FP runner joins them, dont people give that person the stink eye for "cutting" or does everyone do it? No flames please, just trying to get the details so I can "FP run (or walk)"

We never get in line unless we are all there. The only park where we do a split FP run is DHS. My sons and I would go to TSM and FP for everyone then ride. while My daughter and husband go ride ToT stand by.

If we don't plan to split up and half of us do a ride, we see no reason not to stay together. We can easily just all go to that first FP together.

For our upcoming trip it will just be my husband and I so we won't split.

We plan for the family to wait next to the attraction entrance for the fastpass runner to catch up. Family includes two children and one parent, so this group will undoubtedly walk slower than the runner/other parent. Hopefully, we've got it timed about right, and the kids will be able to take in the atmosphere while runner (usually me) does all the leg work.

From reading these boards, I don't think people look too kindly on the fastpass runner catching up to the others in the attraction line.

If everyone wants to ride together, they should get in line together. I really dislike it when adults are trying to join other adults so they can all ride together. You're grownups. You'll be fine riding without your pals.

I tend to tolerate it better for families with children but it still irritates me. I prefer to just wait for our group to enter the line together to ride together without pushing past half the queue.

This is what I thought, but I just wanted to clarify since I dont see anyone actually say they wait outside the ride. My DH will be the runner, I will be pushing my stroller with 2 kiddo's and pulling my son by the hand. I'd much rather take my time and walk though the park to the attraction, even if it means an extra 10 min of waiting in line

guess I hit the 0 button by mistake, and I have no clue how to remove it from the title! oops!

You can FIX a typo in the TITLE very easily.

1) Open your original post.
2) Near the bottom, Click on EDIT.
3) When that opens, Near the bottom, Click on ADVANCED.
4) Re-type your Title
5) Near the bottom, Click on Save Changes.
-Done!

ALTERNATE:
When you are still on the Title List (before you open your thread)-
Just double-click to the right of your title.
When the title highlights, just re-type it.
Hit Enter/Return
-Done!

I consider that line cutting myself. I think the rest of your family should wait at the entrance of the queue and everyone should enter together.

OP- I am one of those that uses the "stink eye"!

I will never understand why they think that it is okay to skip ahead into a line. Especially to wait for an adult getting a FP. Why would it be okay for him to get in the line ahead of others? It is NEVER okay to do that. A line is a line for a reason: those who get there first, get in first. There are no special exceptions or justifications. I am obviously completely merciless in my views on this subject. It is so unfair to put one's perceived "good excuse" to skip ahead of other people who are following the rules and waiting their turn in the line.

My family waits patiently by the ride entrance for the person getting the FP to catch up and then we all join the line together.

I agree with everyone here: if people want to ride together, they should enter the line together.

For Soarin' and TSM, I hope to spare my DDs the craziness of rope drop stampede. Thought I could run/fast walk to the FP booth, letting DH and DDs hang back behind the crowd. We may try to ride standby or we might meet up at another attraction.

I'm really scared of those stampedes, for DDs, not for myself.

One time sis and I went to FP Everest while DH and kids went to Safari. DH was SUPPOSED to wait for me but he decided to go up to where the stroller parking is (have to go thru some of the line first). Then, when he was there, he decided I must be just a couple seconds from them, so he got into the regular line. When sis and I got there - we ended up 'excusing' ourselves thru a TON of people - it was SO EMBARRASSING! I was fuming by the time we made it to him.

Our rule from then til now - NO ENTERING A LINE unless we're all together. It was so not worth the humiliation of walking thru all those people - I assure you - it is not worth it.

Often, DH will go FP something and the kids and I will just ride it ourselves. Or, DH will go FP something while I let the kids ride the teacups (dh and I hate spinning).

We plan it this way so that we don't have to wait and watch all those people get ahead of us.

You may not pass me to go ahead but the person ahead of me is welcomed to pass back and join the group behind.....honestly..if you all can't wait together and not create chaos what's the point in trying to gain a few minutes by splitting and rejoining in a line....my group waited by the FP machine to get passes and then went together to get in line, why not all, or just ride singley.......too many issues on this theory..

We rode TSM last week in the stand-by line - got in the line about 30 minutes after opening and it was advertised as a 30-minute line, so not too bad. The lines just to GET the FP were pretty long themselves. After the first 15 minutes or so, the stand-by line moves from outdoors to indoors. There was actually a separate "mini-line" forming right by the door of families who were waiting for one of their party to come from the line where they went to get the FP! It was creating a lot of confusion in the main line as people figured out they needed to walk around this growing "line within a line". After several more families started to form this separate queue, a CM finally did something about it. There was a LOT of stink-eye going on in that line! They should have just waited the extra 15-20 minutes.

The "stampede" sounds a whole lot worse on the Disboards then it looks in person. Remember that most of the crowd will also have young kids with them. For us personally I don't wish to be running or "stampeding" to my location. so I just stay with the group I came with.

There is nothing wrong with one person going ahead though...which is what I think everyone has said.

Thanks, that's comforting. The fact that it's commonly called a "stampede" is pretty intimidating, so it's good to hear a firsthand account that it's not as bad as it sounds.

I'm our family's designated FP runner. They wait for me and we enter the queue together.

And Vegas oddsmakers have placed the over-under on this thread at 7.5. Place your bets. :cool2:
