Day 6, Part 5 In Which Epcot Puts On A Show Just For Us!!!
Day 6, Part 5 In Which Epcot Puts On A Show Just For Us!!!
Somewhere around this time I suggested we play the Question Game. We were tired and our convo was winding down and when I noticed we were both looking at our phones instead of, you know, ACTUALLY COMMUNICATING with each other I was like oh hell no. I am old fashioned like that and I feel like an idiot when I look at my phone too much.
I know it's a symptom of our generation but I do not accept it. People of Earth, let's look into each other's eyes and tell each other something we've never told anyone. Let's connect for real, WHO CARES WHAT'S GOING ON ON TWITTER!!
The truth is, I do. I love Twitter! But not during a meal at Disney World.
Most of my friends are so freaking sick of the Question Game but I didn't grow up with Jess so she hasn't had to tolerate it since like 2nd grade.
She ended up being super into it and I think we both forgot about our phones for a good 45 seconds. After that I just had to check Instagram, I mean you never know which one of your friends is going to take a picture of the dessert they are eating.
I'm kidding of course... Not only did we play it right then, it continued throughout our whole meal, the whole time we were walking out of Epcot, all the way back to Pop on the bus, and back in the room. We sure learned a lot about each other!
If you don't know this game, it's basically just that you ask a question, the other person answers, and then they ask you something, and you answer, and on and on. But they have to be good/juicy questions and you can not copy the question the other person asked you.
It's basically like Truth or Dare without the dare. This game is better because as Madonna says, "The biggest dare is to tell the truth." (;
I have learned some INSANE stuff about people during this game. However, I cannot reveal any of it because the #1 rule of the question game is YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE QUESTION GAME.
Outside of the game you are forbidden to bring up anything spoken about while playing or you get tracked and killed basically. It's way more serious than Fight Club and I will knock you out if you repeat anything I say during the game. Brad Pitt doesn't have much to do with it but if I have to call him, I WILL.
Anywho, back to the meal! I didn't have to think much about my entree - I knew I wanted the Pollo a las Rajas because so many people on the Dis, including Jess, have endlessly raved about it and from food pictures I knew it looked delicious.
This was very good. I don't know that it's that deserving of the over the top hype and next time I will probably try something else, but I'm glad I had it this time. I was in the mood for chicken and it hit the spot. I usually don't have creamy sauce on chicken so it is an interesting combination and the famous green rice is really good.
My only complaint was that I didn't think there was enough sauce. It must not have been that big a problem to me though since I'm sure the waitress would have happily brought more had I requested it.
Jess usually gets the chicken but instead she decided to go with the Carne Asada this time and she absolutely LOVED IT.
I don't remember her getting dessert but I certainly did! I wasn't crazy about the dessert menu so I just went with something basic I knew I would like, the chocolate mousse.
OMG. This was SO MUCH better than I was expecting. It was anything but basic, it was the lightest, fluffiest, most delicious chocolate mousse I have EVER had! Also there was a certain spice in it or something that made it feel like something you'd eat around Christmastime to me. That probably sounds weird but I don't know how else to explain it. I craved this dessert soooo much after my trip and I highly recommend it!
Overall this was a great meal and I am so glad I finally tried San Angel! It may not be a place I have to go every single trip but I have to say I am dying to go back already. There are a lot of different things I want to try here and sitting in this pavilion during your meal is just such a wonderful experience. The atmosphere can't be beat!
We were one of two tables left in the place, we stayed SO long. We just sat forever after we finished because we wanted to chill out and just enjoy the flawless Mexican view, Froot Loop salsa, and Question Game. We figured as long as this other table is still sticking around, the staff can't lock up anyway.
Then we had the thought of... what if the other table is thinking the same thing waiting for us to leave? LOL! But they eventually got up and we followed right behind them cause we don't wanna be the jerks keeping the staff there all night (even though we kinda already were!!)
It was over 90 minutes past park closing once we got out of there! Wow.
It was AWESOME to be there all alone. I just didn't want to leave ever!
We took our time heading out of Epcot.
We went to the giant restrooms near where you come out of World Showcase and go into Future World. I always wonder when they are going to do something better with that space.
We were literally the only people around except for this one CM who told us it was going to rain so we'd better hurry up. Um yeah I know dude you want us out, calm down.
So we walk on into Future World, marveling at the emptiness of the park. Well not really marveling because it's a trend of mine and Jess's friendship to be the last people in Epcot. This is like the 67th time it's happened and so we're just used to it.
HOWEVER, then something we are certainly not used to happened.
The Fountain of Nations show began!!! WHAT?? WHY?
It was seriously like this show was just for us. I mean, it literally was since we saw no other people. It's not like there were still a few stragglers. No. It was us and Spaceship Earth and the fountain. We could not believe it, we were just like "Is this actually happening? How is this real?
It was truly amazing. I feel SO lucky that this happened to us.
I could not stop taking pictures as we made our way out. We could not stop laughing and carrying on and playing the Question Game. It was so much fun.
