XXX Food Porn or Photographer’s view of DxDP-Updated 8/27

I was considering skipping my run tonight. Then I opened this thread and saw all the potential pounds I will be gaining in a couple of months. Needless to say, I got up off the couch!
Great photos and reviews! Now, I'm double-thinking my ADR's:rolleyes:

Another wonderful update :thumbsup2

Your review is:

A) Making me hungry and
B) making me want to go and practice using aperture correctly

Thanks for the tips !

Very much enjoying your review. I think a new standard has been set for future food porn threads.

B) making me want to go and practice using aperture correctly

Like Linda67 I'm off to practice my aperture too! I've just asked DH to plate up nicely for tonight as I'll be starting with a pic of my dinner :rotfl2: - it's almost 6pm in Sydney and DH is cooking tonight.

Just read your review of Yak & Yeti and my mouth is watering :goodvibes

We have a lunch reservation there and I was a little worried as we have never ate there before but your pictures and comments put my fears aside. I can not wait to eat there now on our AK day :thumbsup2

Thank you. Here is the tip of the day for getting the best looking shots. Try to get your light source coming in from behind and above the food not the front. Shadows are what really make food look good.

Your photos are absolutely gorgeous! They look like they belong in a food magazine!

I'm looking forward to your Biergarten lunch pics...did I miss that? We are trying Biergarten lunch for the first time in a few weeks and would love to know how you liked it?

Thanks for taking the time to write and show such a wonderful report!

I had misplaced this on my laptop so I had to go back and find them. We had done lunch here on our last trip. My family were very weary of this since they had never had German food before. Turns out they really enjoyed many of the choices and wanted to try it again this trip. This is the only buffet that I took pictures of other than a few desserts at Boma. Buffets are not really conducive to photos since the food is not plated and I don’t like trying to take pictures with people standing behind me waiting to eat. Also I have no control of the light so I really can’t do much to highlight the food. Anyway it was not very crowded at the Beirgarten so I thought I would give it a try. The other thing is there are so many item I don’t remember what is what especially dishes from another country.
The restaurant itself is very beautiful and dark. You sit at long tables and if it is crowded with other families. On this day it was not so we sat by ourselves. As Disney states it “We feature Oktoberfest-style seating, where
multiple families are seated together at
a large banquet table.”

Without a tripod it is almost to impossible to get a decent shot in here so this is the best I could do.
Salads: Tomato Salad, Beet Salad, Cabbage Salad,
Macaroni Salad, Potato Salad,
Wurst Salad, and seasonal Soup. The German potato salad was the best of the lot.

I am not partial to pretzels but the rest of my family loved the pretzel bread.

Carving station. I remember some kind of pork but did not try it.

A nice selection of sausages with sauerkraut. I personally love sausage and tried each. The only this that I would have made this better would have been a hot mustard to go along with them. They had a sweet mustard but that did not do it for me. The other tray here was rosemary potatoes. They were very good.

Meatballs and Chicken schnitzel. I enjoyed them but not so much for the rest of the family.

Salmon, roasted chicken and green beans. I tried some of the salmon and it was OK.

Spätzel, red cabbage and green beans. I love red cabbage and this was good.

On to the desserts. I don’t remember what all of the selections were today but from the menu: Vanilla Pudding, Blueberry Crumble Cake, fresh Fruit, Chocolate Mousse Cake, Apple Strudel, and Bavarian Cheesecake.

I made sure that I booked our reservation just before the show started so that we would have some entertainment. This really gets into the feeling of being in a real Beirgarten though the crowd was rather subdued this day.

While we all enjoyed our experience, we have all decided that we don’t need to come back here in the near future. Overall it was good if you like German food and fun experience.

I was reading your mind!

We met up with several friends for breakfast downstairs for breakfast one morning. It was nice to sleep in a bit and not have to deal with the buses to get to a meal.

DD16 and myself love eggs Benedict so we ordered the Barbecue Eggs Benedict
Poached Eggs on an English Muffin with Tasso Pork and Barbecue-Hollandaise Sauce served with Roasted Red Potatoes. They were good but was hoping for a little more from the Barbecue-Hollandaise sauce. Didn’t really taste the BBQ.

The other member of our party had the Raisin Bread French Toast
topped with Cinnamon Icing and Sausage.

The rest of the group had the Canyon Skillet. Scrambled Eggs, Roasted Red Potatoes, Bacon,
Sausage, Waffles, Buttermilk Biscuits, and Sausage Gravy.

We were celebrating one of our friends BD this morning and they brought out a special BD cupcake.

This was our only non-buffet sitdown breakfast. Our choices were good and we could not beat the location.

Your pictures are really wonderful! I agree that they could easily be used by Disney for advertising ;) Glad to see a good review of the Coral Reef, as we have an ADR there for our upcoming trip... your review also really makes me want to try the Yak and Yeti sometime!
