Worst restaurant at WDW?

Without a doubt Tony's Town Square for food.

As for dining experience Chef Mickeys, it was so loud and the kids were completely out of control. (I have 5 myself so I know how kids behave and this was really bad).

I like the food at Chef Mickey's but the dining area is just way too loud. We've eaten a lot of character meals and this one by far gets us the most stressed out LOL The little restaurant bathroom is ridiculous too...TINY! We hate to venture all the way back out of the restaurant to the elevators to find more stalls though. Oh and we have 5 kids too :).

I'd forgotten about them! You actually have to go downstairs to get to them if I recall correctly. A strange set-up that must have its roots in whatever was there before CM's.

Boma and Nine Dragons. Poor experience all around. Service, food, rude families. These are off our list.

However, having just returned from WDW the dining experience I think has taken a downward slide because of the dining plan. Since it was introduced, I have noticed the quality of the food has gotten worse and I constantly feel like I am being rushed.

Although we have all our ADR's for Christmas, We we will be going off property for most of our meals.

I find it funny that some of the "worst" restaurants mentioned here are also on the "best" restaurants lists. It definitely is all about personal preferences and experiences. Even a fabulous restaurant can have an off night, an off meal or an off waitress. Everyone is human.

I have a feeling that by the time this thread winds down almost every restaurant will have been mentioned by someone. That being said, I really appreciate people's dining reviews and use them as guidlines when making those fun but tough decisions on where to eat.

I might be crazy, but I find the "Food Porn" thread (pictures of all the food) to be most helpful and thoroughly entertaining. It is great to know exactly what the food looks like and it helps to fill all those hours waiting for the next trip.:surfweb:

I go to San Angel every time we're in Epcot. I also love the food at Spirit of Aloha.

I think Biergarten was my worst experience. Bad food that was so greasy and seemingly undercooked and then we ended up being seated with a horribly obnoxious family. Thankfully I got over it pretty quick once I ordered a 32 oz. Beck's Dark. :lmao:

I usually take negative reviews here with a grain of salt. Sure on this thread you may have 15 or 20 people have the same handful of restaurants they hate. But thousands of people go each week, most of them are not here to comment. Yet the restaurants are still doing a good business.

I see on dinning reports people saying, "I'm glad to know you didn't like it. I'm canceling my ADR." I have some very picky friends that I would never take food advice from.

Good points all. I too expect every place to get a poor review on occasion. And conversely I expect that even the "worse" place will get good reviews from somebody. In fact, that's why I thought a poll about which is the worse will be good - just to see if a particular place gets a large number of votes.

The worst "restaurant" was our room last year, when we ordered pizza from room service! Yuck! Do yourselves a favour and eat out.

Our list of not favorites would be Biergarten and Hollywood and Vine. It's interesting, Coral Reef was a favorite for all of us and we are planning on going back next year. Same for Chef Mickey's. But hands down the worst for us was HDDR. YUK!!!

I beleive the "worst" is in the eyes of the beholder, buthonstly IMHO it has to be San Angel in Mexico by far!

Sorry, where? I'm not up on all the acronyms yet.

We have ADRs for:

Tony's Town Square
1900 Park Fare (breakfast)
San Angel Inn
Concourse Steakhouse
Maya Grille
Cape May Cafe (breakfast)
Hoping for a Tusker House reservation
Coral Reef
Grand Floridian Cafe

I've heard a few of these mentioned in this thread. Please tell me any opinions you have on any of these, please, good or bad.

I think my least favorite restaurant so far was Planet Hollywood. No particular reason, just the rest of them were so much better.

Our thoughts on your places that you are eating:

We like Tony's Town Square...although it can be up and down in quality of food. We find the lunch better than dinner.
We have never eaten at the next three.
We have had dinner and breakfast at the Maya Grill--not outstanding, but better than a lot of other restaurants we have tried.
We have never had breakfast at Cape May Cafe--only dinner. We are trying the breakfast next year because every one raves about it.
We have never eaten at Tusker House or Grand Floridian Cafe (we don't like the hotel in general).
We haven't eaten at Coral Reef in at least five or six years, but it was very good the last time we were there.

Sorry I'm not more helpful.

The top 2 on my list that I won't be returning to are Biergarten and Mama Melroses. The food at Mama Melroses was disgusting but the service was good. At Biergarten, the food was nasty and the service wasn't the greatest but it was a fun atmosphere. I guess you just have to pick and choose your battles!

"Per usual (although this thread is still in its infancy), when one of these threads is started you will find in time that nearly every restaurant is mentioned at least once."

Precisely. Heading just as predicted!

-San Angel....yuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am from Texas and I grew up with real Mexican food and Tex-Mex and this food isn't either one.

-ABC Commissary. Very bland!

-Fulton's--Terrible food, terrible service and terrible prices.

Some of the ones listed as terrible are some of my favorites. ;)

I understand what you intended to do, and please don't take offense at this, but you have attempted and undoable (is that a word :lmao: ). IMHO there is just no good or definitive answer. NONE of the WDW restaurants are a good value ... it's an overly priced resort so put the $$$$ out of the picture. Also, you have to realize that there are the old "DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS" and then factor in those that say have had great Mexican Food from living in like San Diego or in Texax along the border, etc. If you have in your mind what a "FAVORITE" food should be and Disney prepares it to meet the other 99.99999% people not having your tastes and still keeping their restaurants at capacity you opinion does not carry much weight from WDW's point of view. As I indicated earlier in this thread we have eaten at many, many save a handful of restaurants at all the parks, resorts and even DTD over the last 22+ years of going to WDW and will hit some of our favorites this upcoming Dec/Jan time frame, but aren't changing a single thing until we check out things during the upcoming visit.

One final big hint is don't go to a restaurant and order something not somewhat along the theme of where you are eating. I.E. don't order a steak at Alfredo's or Narcoossee's, or even a steak at Fulton's, something other than what you can get basically fast food at like Sci-FI, or expect an Italian meal at Momma Melroses to rival Alfredo's used to serve ... it just ain't going to happen. In fact in probably 100+ meals I have eaten at the various WDW restaurants I can't remember ever ordering a steak that is broiled, maybe prime rib once but can't remember. We love Oliva's, but go we there for lunch and have the Conch fritters and I love their soft shelled crab sandwich ... would I go there for a dinner .... NO. Same with Fulton's ... we go there for their seafood salad for lunch and the wife gets the crab claws and personally would not go there for a nice dinner ... that I save for something like the Bisto de Paris where I'm partial to the duck and the wife has the "OTHER" white meat of some kind and we enjoy the appetizers.

I can say that we have never had a terrible meal at WDW. For the most part we eat at all the different places because of the atmosphere.

The one resturant we will not go back to is Planet Hollywood. This is because the three times we have gone, the service was very slow and poor.

Three strikes, and your out.
