Will a CM use your camera to take a pic?

I don't have the money to spring on photo pass and I haven't had any luck getting into any photo pass shares so my question is will a CM take our picture with a character using our camera or will we be forced to use photo pass in order to get all of us in one shot together?

They have done it everytime for me. This is how we can get our family of five in photos.

We sometimes ask the ride operator to take our picture for us. We would get on Winnie the Pooh ride at DL and we got a family shot of all of us in the honey pot. We used it as a Christmas card to all our families.

You sure can! And usually at a character spot with Photopass, the photographer will hand over the camera to the attendant anyway.

Any time you want the family together in a picture and a CM is around, ask any one standing nearby to take a picture. People ask me a lot and sometimes I ask if they want me to take their picture. I love to do this.

Ditto what all the PP's said ^
The CM's do not mind at all, and are very glad to take your picture.

When I see a father or mother taking a picture at,say, the partner's statue,Iwill approach them and ask if they would like to be in the picture. They are always so grateful.

Yes, the CM's are more than happy to take your pictures for you. 2 years ago it was just me and DFi and we didn't want to be in pictures alone, so the CM's gladly took our pics for us...it was great!!!

We often have CMs take our pic. The only thing that I would advise is that the camera be completely set up and ready to go when you hand it over. Don't assume that the CM actually knows how to use your camera just because their job includes taking pictures.

i know that attendents will gladly pictures for you. but please don't just shove the camera in their faces and expect them to take them. please be nice and ask them to take a picture. they aren't paid to be photographers and some people are really rude about shoving the cameras at the attendents with out a thank you afterwards

actually, you'd be suprised to know that all cameras have the same point and shoot button in almost the exact spot. almost all (but to cover myself i'm not going to say everyone) attendents know how to work a camera- most attendents actually after awhile hate when guests tell them how to work a camera (they really aren't as dumb as people think they are)

*i had to be an escort/attendent for two weeks (instead of my normal entertainment area due to an injury) and to be honest it's not the greatest job in the world and guests really aren't the nicest. i was very happy to go back to my normal area after two weeks.

We always ask, and always say thank you.

I set the camera so its just point and press - but on occasion we get the CM who wants to zoom in for a closeup and those come out blurry. :goodvibes

And if we want the CM's picture, we always ask. So far they have always been gracious (although some were surprised). Some of our best pictures are with CMs.

"Point and shoot" button? Truthfully, my post wasn't referring to point-and-shoot cameras.

While it's true that most people can handle taking a pic with a point-and-shoot camera, SLRs can be more complicated. Heck, I can't tell you how many times I've had to explain to people that they have to look through my 20d's viewfinder instead of expecting the image to show up on LCD (it's a camera, not a celphone) or how to press the button down partway to focus. Obviously, the Disney photogs should understand how to do these things, but you still would want to have the proper settings adjusted, etc.

It should be noted that I would rather bore someone with ten seconds of chatter than end up with a lousy pic.

I am pretty sure that CMs are required to take a Guest's pic any time they are asked. Maybe some CMs can confirm or deny that.

Whenever I ask a CM to take a pic for me, or more frequently, when they volunteer, I simply ask them, "Do you know how to use one of these monsters?" as I hand them my camera. If they are familiar with SLR cameras, they say yes, and if they're not, they say no, and I run through it with them.

For simplicity's sake, I leave my camera on Program AE mode, and if it's indoors or dark I pop up the flash myself, before I hand over the camera. That way, all I have to do is show them how to pre-focus and look through the viewfinder - no other settings or controls needed.

I've only had one or two try to look at the LCD instead of the viewfinder. But most look at the LCD after the shot to see the review, and are surprised when the pic doesn't appear (because I have auto review turned off to save battery life).

The last time I was there the CM's had no problem with taking pictures when we would ask them. Most of them were more than happy to help so that we had our whole family in the picture :)

We regularly stop at PhotoPass spots. I ask the photogragher to take a pix with our camera also and they always have. They use their camera first, then will take a picture with mine.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

This is quite a relief I'm really happy to hear there are so many pleasant CM's and not just a push for photo pass only:goodvibes Believe me I will be the most grateful person they ever met for taking our picture(I have waited so long to go to WDW the memories will be priceless) they will most likely get a slew of thankyou's :rotfl: enough thankyou's to cover the un-thankyou's from the few ungrateful ppl they encounter who just expect them to take pictures.
