When do your kids start school in 2015?

It would be nice if we had a good list of school start dates across the US to get a feel of how crowd levels may be for those traveling in August and September. This is more of a question this year since labor day is later than the past few years and also many schools have recently mentioned changing their start dates.

We (Brandon, MS - Rankin County School District) will be among the earliest with an August 6 start date. All grades (K-12) start the same day. We were also out in May earlier than most districts.

Mississippi as a whole is actually a little more varied now than is used to be - many schools on the Gulf Coast are starting a few weeks later to extend the tourist year.

Reading Area PA, all grades starts August 31st.

Boston area, MA, school year opens on 9/8

By state law, all public schools in MI start 9/8 or later.

In MN most start 9/8 but some districts have received waivers to start a week earlier.

All Albany, NY and Capital District schools start after Labor Day. We will be at WDW 8/26-9/2. Hoping for low crowd levels!

CO starts second week of August. AZ, I think, starts the first week of August while WA starts after Labor Day.

Thomasville Georgia - Kids start back on August 3, 2015

Our city is part of 3 different districts. They start August, 3rd, 11th and 19th. We home school through a charter school and while the official start date is the 19th of August, we've already started so we can take 2 weeks off in January to go to Disney World.

We're in North Carolina. In Wake County where we live (and a lot of others) most of the schools on a traditional schedule return August 24th. We have a lot of year-round schools too though and most of them are already in session.

The first day for NYC public schools is Wednesday September 9. We're out for two days (Sept. 14 and 15) the next week. Then 2 more days ( 23&24) the following week.

Los Angeles is starting Aug 18. A lot of schools in the SF Bay Area are starting then as well.
