Wheelchair Rental on board???

Hi There
We will be taking Grandma with us on the trip and she has some balance issue that make it hard to walk sometimes. Normally she is just fine with a cane but I am worried that with it being a ship and with all the walking it may be too much for her. Anyone know if we can rent a wheelchair on board if she gets too weak or wobbly?
thanks

I don't know if there is one onboard but I always rent a mobility scooter from Special Needs at Sea. It gets delivered to your statemeroom and then picked up from there at the end of a cruise. They do rent wheelchairs too

Hi,

I have only been on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder but as far as I know there is no wheelchair rental option physically on the ship. Here are a couple ideas to try to get a rental wheelchair for your family member before you go on the cruise. Do some research and see if you can rent a wheelchair at home before you leave for your trip. For example, our family rents a wheelchair for my grandmother at our local medical supply store when she comes and visits us. Another idea is to call Disney Cruise line and see if they have suggestions of places near the port where you are going to embark on your cruise to rent from a local business before you go on your wonderful cruise. Hope this help! Have a great cruise.

They have some available for emergencies.

When we traveled with DMIL, she brought her own wheel chair, so it was available to her in the airports, hotels, and in the cruise terminals before/after our cruises. She wasn't comfortable in a standard size wheelchair, and a larger size wasn't readily available, so it really helped to bring one along.

Some of her adult grand kids were escorting her to dinner one night on our last cruise together, and she didn't want to impose on them to push her chair, so she wanted to tough it out with just her cane. The grand kids thought the exercise might be good for her. She took a hard fall and bonked her head on the marble floor in the atrium. The impact could be heard from several feet away. DCL's response was amazing -- cast members seemed to come out of the woodwork. Even with pain meds, DMIL had to contend with a major headache the rest of the cruise. I'm sharing that as a heads up -- it's o.k. to pamper Grandma.

There should be wheelchairs available onboard for unexpected needs (such as someone getting hurt during the cruise). However these may or may not be in the best condition or the correct size, and they may be limited in number. If you anticipate a member of your party might need/want a wheelchair, you should probably rent one in advance. To my knowledge, Brevard Medical is allowed to deliver equipment to the terminal in Port Canaveral. If you are sailing from a different port, you'll need to research vendors in that area.

Enjoy your cruise!

We have borrowed a wheelchair while on board. They have them first come first served at Guest Services. The are free to use with a deposit on your on-board account if you don't return it in the condition you borrowed it.

We rented a mobility scooter for my FIL through Special Needs at Sea. It was delivered to the ship at Port Canaveral. Easy process. FIL also had his transport chair from home. The grandkids pushed the chair.

We have used Brevard Medical on the past cruises out of Port Canaveral. Very easy to work with, they deliver the wheelchairs to the port terminal and pick them up there when we return. We have always gotten manual wheelchairs for Mom as I don't think it would be wise to have the kids see Grandma mow down one of the princesses or characters. :) Mom uses a walker most of the time but the wheelchair is great to have on hand when we get off at a port, she can hold on and use as a walker but have a place to sit when she gets too tired.
