What year was it when you

By 1991 I was on Prodigy. Mostly on message boards about Disney (first time I ever heard of discounts onsite) and by 1992 a Pregnancy board.

My first computer was a Commodore 64 that we got in the early 80's. no Internet access at home until the early 90's, though. I think at the time I had a Packard Bell PC.

I think this was about when I got my Apple IIe. Way before there was such a thing as the Internet.

1998, my daughter was 9 and involved in competitive figure skating. I found a user group of figure skating moms. 14 years later and we're all still friends although only a few had daughters who went on to skate competively beyond the teen years.

I do remember when we first got it at work.

One computer on the net, in a public place where they made sure everyone could see what was on the screen. You had to log every website you went to, and the boss said anyone looking at porn would be fired. First person to look at port at work? The boss. We were going to do an interview with Catherine Oxenberg (the actress fron Dynasty for you kids)....and she was looking up Oxenberg's biography....and the first one that came up ...she clicked on....and had a totally nude frontal picture of her. :rotfl2:

I had my very first "lap top" in I'm guessing 1985/1987? It was a Tandy from Radio Shack:rotfl: It was issued to me when I was a reporter. I still have it, not sure if it works but I still have it..dial-up and everything:lmao:

1994 thru Prodigy & quickly after then AOL at home. :rotfl2:

It was a really long time till I was in an office that had a computer that connected to the world outside.

We've had a computer since the mid-80s but I didn't start using the internet until 1996. I've been addicted ever since.

Over the summer of 1988 I took a computer programming course to fulfill a science requirement at college. Other than word processing, I had never really played around on a computer at all, so this was a very basic course. My prof told us about this thing called email and gave us all email accts and said we could turn in our assignments that way. I never did understand what on earth he was talking about. I was really baffled, but never bothered to pursue it (well, it was summer, after all!). It just made no sense to me.

It wasn't too many years later till the internet and email started really taking off, and I know by 96 I was checking out websites, by 97 dh and I were married and hooked up via prodigy. I'll never forget us trying to figure it all out together. lol. very funny now that I look back at it. by 98 I found the disboards. :)

My grandfather got us a TRS-80 computer with a Cassette Tape drive, in the early '80s and I was instantly hooked.

Finding my way onto the information super highway? Well that was done using my good old 9600 baud modem back in 1991-1992 (freshman year in High School) to connect to local BBS's (and telnet into larger, national, ones) to use their forums & play "door" games (Trade Wars!).

Those were the days.
