What was your wedding song?

We couldn't decide on one, so we used:

First Dance - I Promise You by Michael Bolton
Last Dance - Always and Forever by Luther Vandross
Video - Power of Love by Celine Dion

our first dance was 'Come Rain Or Come Shine"- Ray Charles
our last dance: "Fly Me To The Moon" Frank Sinatra.

BTW Somewhere over the rainbow by Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole- that is my baby's sone. I dance with him to this song before naptime almost every day.

"Never Thought That I Could Love" by Dan Hill. Loved that song ever since I heard it on Santa Barbara (Mason & Julia's song).

DH wasn't too thrilled, but he knew I loved it.

Our's was Can't Help Falling in Love with You by Elvis. Although, my husband told me after the wedding that he was so nervous that he was singing a song in his head so that he could get through the ceremony. The song - Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen! So we always joke that Born to Run was really our song!! :teeth:

That was my sisters...I really liked it.

Mine was "All My Life" by Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville

Funny, my first dance was Can I have this dance for the rest of my life by Anne Murray. My last dance was All my Life by Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville.

We had two. I Cross My Heart, by George Strait. And, The Maker Said Take Her, by Alabama. My Dad is a minister and married us and he actually cried during that one. So sweet.

The Maker Said Take Her

I was taught to believe
Never to doubt
The man up above knew what he?s
Talkin about
So when I heard that voice
So loud and clear
Speak to my heart
I knew that she must be near
The maker said take her and love her forever
Take care of her for life
And treat her right
I never was the one
To listen very well
I walk my own way
And felt what I felt
The further out of touch
With the master plan
Well she was like a flight to the promised land
The maker said take her and love her forever
Take care of her for life
Never forsake her don?t be a heart breaker
The maker said take her
And treat her right
Just treat her right
He placed an angle in the palm of my hand
And for once in my life I obeied his commands
I?ll take her and love her forever
Take care of her for life
Never forsake her don?t be a heart breaker
The maker said take her
And treat her right
Just treat her right
Just treat her right
Take care of her for life
Never forsake her don?t be no heart breaker
The maker said take her
And treat her right
Just treat her right
For Life :love2:

This is such a timely thread! We are getting married in June and I just called the DJ last night to make sure that he has a copy of the song we have picked for our first dance--When You Wish Upon A Star, covered by Billy Joel!

We wanted the original Disney version, but we didn't realize how painfully slow it is until we practiced dancing to it. It felt like we were moving in slow motion!

Okay, I got married a very long time ago, our song was "Endless Love". At the reception, DH surprised me by singing a song to me (he was in a band, that did produce a few albums in the early 80's), had them place a chair in the middle of the dance floor, shine a spotlight on me, and he got on his knees and sang...the irony in all of this is he cheated through the whole marriage (all three years of it, lol)...what did he sing? Inspiration by Chicago:

You know our love was meant to be
The kind of love that lasts forever
And I need you here with me
From tonight until the end of time

You should know, everywhere I go
You're always on my mind, in my heart
In my soul

You're the meaning in my life
You're the inspiration
You bring feeling to my life
You're the inspiration
Wanna have you near me
I wanna have you hear me sayin'
No one needs you more than I need you

And I know, yes I know that it's plain to see
We're so in love when we're together
And I know that I need you here with me
From tonight until the end of time

You should know, everywhere I go
Always on my mind, in my heart
In my soul

You're the meaning in my life
You're the inspiration
You bring feeling to my life
You're the inspiration
Wanna have you near me
I wanna have you hear me sayin'
No one needs you more than I need you

You're the meaning in my life
You're the inspiration
You bring feeling to my life
You're the inspiration
Wanna have you near me
I wanna have you hear me sayin'
No one needs you more than I need you

Apparently he needed me and every other babe he could get his hands on! Took me three years to catch on, but at least he gave me my beautiful DD. Now when I hear this song on the radio I HAVE to shut it off.

Of course growing up I always wanted George Strait's "I cross my heart"... somehow I'll work that into the reception. =o)

This was our wedding song :goodvibes

We didn't have a "wedding song." We couldn't agree on the music and when I talked to my mother about she started in with "You HAVE to have a singer, blah, blah, blah..." I got so mad I just nixed all vocals and had my organist play some beautiful classics. Worked out very well. We've been married 24yrs. :lovestruc

Thank You by Led Zeppelin, very beautiful song:

If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.

Kind woman, I give you my all, Kind woman, nothing more.

Little drops of rain whisper of the pain, tears of loves lost in the days gone by.
My love is strong, with you there is no wrong,
together we shall go until we die. My, my, my.
An inspiration is what you are to me, inspiration, look... see.

And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles,
Thanks to you it will be done, for you to me are the only one.
Happiness, no more be sad, happiness....I'm glad.
If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.

:lovestruc Sea of Love by the Honeydrippers :lovestruc

Come with me, my love
to the sea, the sea of love
I wanna tell you, just how much-I love you...

I need someone to dance now...... :goodvibes :lovestruc

"I'll Still Be Loving You" - Restless Heart

I'll be yours until the sun doesn't shine
'Til time stands still
Until the winds don't blow.

When today is just a memory to me, I know
I'll still be loving you.

Songbird by Fleetwood Mac

A very personal song for McVie about the self-sacrifice of true love

For you, there’ll be no more crying,
For you, the sun will be shining,
And I feel that when I’m with you,
It’s alright, I know it’s right

To you, I’ll give the world
To you, I’ll never be cold
’cause I feel that when I’m with you,
It’s alright, I know it’s right.

And the songbirds are singing,
Like they know the score,
And I love you, I love you, I love you,
Like never before.

And I wish you all the love in the world,
But most of all, I wish it from myself.

And the songbirds keep singing,
Like they know the score,
And I love you, I love you, I love you,
Like never before, like never before.

When I got married in '99 I had been a wedding DJ for about 6 years. For "our song" my only rule was we had to have a song that no one else had used before. Not an easy task. But we did find one. What's Simple Is true - by Jewel.

Some of my favorites over the years of DJing that people used(because they were unique and not used a lot) were I'll Still be Lovin' You - Restless Heart, True Companion- Marc Cohn, Just Between You & Me - April Wine (that was a cool one), The Flame - Cheap Trick.

We had two:

She Belongs to Me - Harry Connick Jr.
Head Over Heels - Alanis Morrissette "you're my best friend with benefits!"

almost forgot one of my favorites from weddings - Follow You, Follow Me -Genesis

This is a fun thread. :goodvibes

We had "Here and Now" by Luther Vandross as our first dance and "We've Only Just Begun" by the Carpenters for our wedding party dance. Last dance of the night was, of course, Last Dance by Donna Summer.
