What rides/attractions should "bigger" guests avoid?

I have been diagnosed with PCOS so no matter how I"ve tried I keep gaining. My last WDW trip I was about 220.. now I"m close to 240 and I"m 5'9"... also quite.. ahem.. busty.. but more tummy and thigh than I should have...I was always about 150 and VERY happy there until I balooned up the past few yeaers because of this damn disease.. I'm going to a specialist sept 19.. YAY! hoping they cna help.. but going to WDW before that.. in 2 weeks in fact.

I remember at 220 space mountain was a bit.. ahem.. tight of a fit (I remember it sitting 2.. now it's one? or am I that big? lol!)... I"m scared I won't .. fit... this time around:(

I guess what I"m asking is... I'm size 18... weigh about 235 or so.. 5'9".. anyone close to my size to give me pointers on attractions to AVOID to keep from being sent away for being too big? I read in another threat that the sci fi cafe booths are small.. but size is relative and sometimes I feel as tho I look more to be 550 lbs than what I am.... Any tips would be appreciated. I've reached a point I avoid some rides at local amusement parks for fear I'm "too big" .. I would hate to avoid anything at disney!

Go here and look at this article on Deb's site.

http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/ridsiz.htm

It is an article for "Pooh" sized people. I have a couple of friends going next year that are "Pooh" size so I was looking for information for them when I ran across this article. :)

:wave2:

The only thing I found uncomfortable (that I can remember) was Primeval Whirl - the wild mouse type ride in AK. The car seats four and with DH who is close to 300 and me at about 210-220 at the time, sitting on the one side, it was a tight squeeze. The only other thing I can think of related more to height for my DH - plenty of hip room but not enough leg room for his 6ft+ height.

so space mountain wasn't an issue? For some reason it's right now my biggest fear because it's my FAVORITE ride but at 220 it was a tight fit.. 15-20 lbs more.. I want to ride it so bad.. I"m reading that article (THANKS SO MUCH!) and it sounds like people a bit larger had no problems.. I am doomed with height and wt;)

Most of the rides at Disney accomodate Pooh-sized guests.
Just wanted give you a hug :grouphug:
My daughter was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 15.
She had many female problems along with her weight gain.
Everytime I would ask the Dr's why she was gaining so much weight they would just tell her to go on a diet or join Weight Watchers.
We finally found a GYN who preformed a laproscoptic surgery on her and could tell by looking at her overies that she had PCOS.
It was great to finally find the answer but she still feels the pain and stigma of being overweight.
People just don't understand about PCOS.
Hope your specilist can help.
You will have a wonderful time at Disney.

The only thing I remember being a slight problem, was the turnstile to get into It's Tough to be a Bug. I had to go in sideways. But everything else was fine!

Had hoped to be smaller than I was last Sept. when we went, but I think I'm a few pounds heavier. And I don't have a condition like you; just not willpower!

*hugs back*... I didn't have surgery my OBG just finally admitted she is pretty sure it's what I have... after *I* asked if it's what I was having all sorts of problems for. There is some type of medication that is supposed to helpw ith the weight tho at 15 I dont' know that your daughter would wnat to start it. I'm hesitant. I haven't had any cysts but the hair growth, depression, cramps and weight gain are out of control.

Hara sad to say I've lost willpower.. after dieting and exercising for almost a year and GAINING on top of it... I have given up. I do plan to be a glutton on my trip and worry about it once I see my endochrinologist;)

I too suffer with PCOS so I know exactly how you feel. The fertility problems that go along with it are heartbreaking too. I was lucky though I lost enough in 1999 to get a surprise baby. I have found that Metformin and a healthy carbs diet is helping me to lose the weight. It is slow going, but it is going all the same. I am going to Disney in October and went three years ago at about 250 pounds and didn't find anything to be tight for me. Just have fun.
