I've never posted a really extensive trip report. We are going to be on the Dream in August and I was thinking I might try to write one this time. What features make you want to read a trip report? What makes you look forward to the next installment? I'd like to give the people what they want:). Please feel free to comment as well as choose from the poll list.

I love writing trip reports. From what I can tell, people love to read reports with photos in them. Personally, I don't like to put photos of my family in them. I do focus on the ports of call and our excursions. If I have good ones, I will sometimes include photos of the ships or events, but I don't take a lot of pictures onboard to share.

Most of all, have fun and retell your adventure.

For me the most important thing is paragraphs. If there are no paragraphs, I won't read it.

Then the second most important thing is to be able to discern the TR from the chit chat. Bolded is very easy way to do this.

My most appreciated (but rarely done) is for the entire trip report to be posted at the same time or at least if it is too long, create another post right away.

I never read about the flights, the airport or the pre and post cruise hotels.

I appreciate pictures of just about anything, food, cabin, sights.

I also enjoy reading about special and unusual things that happen. Humor is always appreciated.

    Thanks for asking!:goodvibes

I agree with above! I love to see how other people cruise and things they have learned. This helps me improve my next vacation. I just appreciate anyone who is willing to share.

It has to be well written is most important. No huge grammatical and spelling errors. Well formatted with a good mix or writing and pictures.

Also I love hearing about experiences that others might not have thought of.

All the above. I also like when the posters stays on top of updates… if it takes too long to complete the report I lose interest.

I love to read practical info (how various excursions were, what new menus were offered, details about activities, etc)

If a report is going to go on for pages and pages and pages, I do appreciate an index in the first post.

Very interesting. I have written a couple of trip reports and I try to make them enjoyable to any that may stumble upon them.

I will not read a TR that does not have pictures nor will I read if the poster does not keep it going and give timely updates.

An index is nice, maybe I should consider adding one to my latest report. ;)

Well organized (index/short cut page to updates)
    Well written with pictures throughout
Don't over use the term "but I digress".
Include helpful information, facts and tips.
    Have fun with it:)

I also enjoy learning the thought process behind major decisions made (this cruise vs. that one; discount rate found here; that kind of thing). I have often taken tidbits picked up from trip reports and used them on my trips.
