What happens if Fantasmic FP is canceled?

There is a threat of severe thunderstorms the evening we have Fantasmic booked as a FP. Since the show is so late in the day, what happens regarding replacement FPs in case of a cancellation?

they make the decision to cancel the show after the show was supposed to start. So if F! is scheduled at 9pm they decide after 9pm, they wait until the very last minute

Like others have said, they won’t cancel until the last minute. You’ll have already tapped in/used your fastpass.

I’ve always been able to pick up a same day Fantasmic FP in late afternoon/early evening with minimal to moderate refreshing. Perhaps use that for something else!

Two years ago, we had FP+ for Fantasmic and it was cancelled for rain. We received an anytime FP+ good at any park (with a few restrictions on rides - FOP for example.)

Don’t prebook Fantasmic. Don’t book it until you are done using fp for the day. No point in waiting in lines when you can skip them! Fantasmic is easy to get the day of- just refresh. Fp doesn’t save much time for Fantasmic anyways, and you can get just a good of a seat with standby.

The only reason I originally booked it was because there was nothing else we were interested in. However, I was able to switch Star Tours earlier in the day, so now we can cross our fingers for something else coming up same day. Wish they'd changed the tiers a little bit earlier!

I would say it doesn’t save any time. It just seats you within a given section.

What a FastPass for Fantasmic! offers is more CHOICE in seating.

If you DO get a F! FastPass, you can choose to sit in either the FP section (virtually the entire left half of the theater) or the Standby section (virtually the entire right half of the theater.)
So, whatever section has the better seating at the time you arrive, you can go there.
Without a FP, you can only choose a seat in the Standby section.

There is a very good chance that you can get a FP+ for F! as a 4th or 5th FP of the day because they issue SO MANY of them (enough to cover nearly the entire left half of the seating.) On many nights, it is possible that you can get a FP+ for F! as you are walking to the theater.
However, I was there Feb. 21-30, 2020 and on some nights the guest-level at DHS was so enormous that the supply of F! FPs was gone by noon. (Maybe earlier.)

As to when to arrive at the theater, I'd get to there 45-60 minutes before the show-time.
Even WITH having a FP or Dining Pkg. reservation, don't wait too late.

On busy nights, the CMs can stop holding the reserved sections within 20-30 minutes before show-time, and turn over any available seats to waiting walk-in guests.

Guests who learn how to take advantage of the various available "tools" and timing strategies will be able to take more control over their WDW experiences.

I did this once and after the rain cancellation, I hoofed it over to Epcot which closed later and used it to watch Illuminations from the FP section, so you can get something depending on timing.

We attended a Fantasmic show that was cancelled. It was past 9pm when they made the decision to cancel, but they had been warning us for the previous hour that it could happen. This would have given us time to book something else if we were inclined.

In 2018, we had a FP and the show was cancelled 15 minutes after it was due to start due to rain and lightening. We went back the next day and used another FP for that day to see if ( its my husbands favorite or I would have cancelled it all together ).

Just to clarify - the anytime FP+ was for the next day. I saw a follow up comment about rushing over to Epcot. In my case, we used the next day at the Magic Kingdom.
