We ate *every* credit and I lost 3 lbs - DDP review

Eeyore had a double espresso at 10:30 at the Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery. It must have been pretty good, because he is a major coffee snob and he didn't complain

It was $4.19 and he got it for a snack credit. Further confirmation that some single serve snacks over $4 are included in the plan.

where is this located?

I am loving your reviews!!

Thanks! Thanks again to everyone. I will try to get the Yak & Yeti review up today. I had to go to photopass and get my pictures before they expired :scared1: Now I have to fit in time to assess them before they go *poof*.

Anyway ... the Kusafiri is located in Africa, near the safari. We waited near the head of the fast pass queue while Eeyore got his cuppa, because it was raining pretty hard at that point.

Subbing and loving your reviews. You're a great writer! I can't believe I'm actually back dising a year before our next potential trip. Which is closer than originally planned by about two and a half months - that MUST mean I need to read dining reviews right now doesn't it? :rolleyes1

Part of why I am slooow is that I keep getting distracted by other threads. Accidents with DME, cold weather in the parks. Never mind the real life conversations with Eeyore about when to go back. :cool1: This from the guy who I had to DRAG to the Wilderness Lodge 12 years ago when I married him. The kids reactions have him now though. He still hates crowds, so ...

His plan? A longer vacation where we hit rope drop and then LEAVE every day around 2. :lmao: I love that man. :goodvibes

At long last!

Sorry folks. I will try to do better. Almost completely moved over to my laptop and recovered from the holidays. :rolleyes1

Yak and Yeti seems to be a love it or hate it sort of place. We had to witness some jerk being a real "give tourists a bad name" type with our server. Poor guy. Seems the appetizer had "ruined their entire meal". Looked pretty well eaten to me (the appetizer *and* the meal). Called the manager over. :confused3 Some people ...

We on the other hand, had a delightful meal, once the kids had ordered. That was tough, because my darling Pirate Boy had decided that he doesn't eat pork, shortly before the trip ... so, his favorite, egg rolls, were off the menu. I will say, since he's a picky eater, that being a Disney adult had its pluses and minuses. Portion sizes and deserts were pluses, food choices were sometimes minuses, though servers were great working with us.

Sean P was our server and he was very good, despite his recent cranky diner. We had:

Eeyore: Baby Back Ribs & shared Chocolate Brownie Sundae for two with PB

Tiger (that's me): Wok-Fried Green Beans, Shaoxing Steak & Shrimp and Fried Wontons for desert.

Pirate Boy: Maple Tamarind Chicken & shared Chocolate Brownie Sundae for two with E

Princess: Chicken Bites, Fried Rice & Jello, Ice Cream Sundae

Court Jester: Egg Roll, Carrot Sticks, Jello, Ice Cream Sundae

So ... how was it? And what did it look like? Off to upload the missing pics. :goodvibes

That is, I hope I won't leave you hanging. Here's the food porn:

Tiger's Wok-Fried Green Beans - what was left of them when I got the camera out, anyway, it was a LARGE order.

Sadly, there are no pictures of the best part ... it disappeared before I could get the camera out:laughing:

The food was as good as it looks.

I normally will not eat ribs in public (hate to be licking my fingers) but these were soooo good it was worth it. Not that Eeyore gave up more than one. :lmao:

Pirate Boy ate most of his chicken and love the chocolate brownie sundae. He wasn't much for his sides, but the boy is picky.

"My" green beans were enjoyed by everyone, especially me. I do recommend splurging for this appetizer!! The sauce was yummy and the beans were cooked just enough. It was actually not half bad cold either ... I ate the rest late that night, along with the left over tamarind chicken. :lovestruc

The Shaoxing Steak & Shrimp was a feast for the eyes *and* the mouth. Very nice presentation with the steak wrapped around the rice and the shrimp on skewers over the top. Just as tasty as it looks and the steak was super tender. They must marinate it. The only thing I would do differently would be to ask for brown rice. I didn't eat much of it anyway, but I don't care for white rice much and try to get brown wherever I can.

The younger kids ate well, though the egg roll went begging ... Court Jester had a few of his sister's chicken nuggets and they both ate quite a lot of their ice cream sundaes this meal.

So ... what disappeared? Were you paying attention when I mentioned our orders? Wontons. For desert? I was skeptical. I do not like mixing sweet and savory. OMG.

Order the wontons. Eat them. Save room for them. They were, hands down (don't stop reading the reviews, please) the best thing I ate all week. crispy Wontons filled with sweet cream cheese, but not cloying. On skewers like the shrimp, atop vanilla ice cream with a drizzle of honey. :cloud9:

Seriously, I meant to take a picture, but it would have been a mistake -- they might have gotten cold. Do not let them get cold. Let nothing keep you from your fried wontons! :worship:

Total bill $111.89, we tipped $22.38 on our KTTW card and spent 3 Adult TS credits and 2 child TS credits. Worth every cent!

I am so excited to try Yak and Yeti. I definitely will have to get the fried wontons!!! They look (oh wait no pictures...) sound delicious.

So glad to see SOMEONE ordered the maple tamarind chicken. It is by far my favorite dish at the Yak & Yeti. I've read many reviews and never see that anyone tried it. I was begining to think they had taken it off the menu:sad1:
Glad it will be there when we go back in 3 weeks. :woohoo:
