They are two different experiences. If you only have a few days DL is much easier to navigate. It is nice to be able to walk everywhere. I prefer some of the DL rides and it is the original park. If you want to stay in a Disney Resort they are all in the Deluxe price range so more expensive. There are many hotels within walking distance that are much more reasonable. You do lose the Disney magic once you leave the park, traffic etc.
WDW is much more of a full vacation experience. But too short a time could be overwhelming.
I also find navigating in Orlando easier than LA. If you fly into LGB or SNA it is not bad but not a big LAX fan.
Cost wise we find flying from Alberta MCO is less expensive and if you take magic express you avoid the transfer cost.
