Day 2 ~ July 20
Getting ready and Epcot, Future World!
I woke up early, and went outside onto our balcony to discover RAIN!! NO PROBLEM! Actually I was kind of a little excited!
If you remember from my PRE trip report, I am NOT a shopper. I hardly ever buy myself clothes or anything really. BUT when I have a Disney trip coming up and ESPECIALLY a cruise coming up, I went crazy buying things. I mean like for the past year and a half. Things that I knew we needed, things I thought we MIGHT need, things suggested by DISers. I bought "cruise casual" dresses, I bought us "excursion bags," you name it. I had piles of things just lying around waiting to be brought on this vacation!
One of those things were rain jackets I had found on DisneyShopping a LONG time ago. We once were stuck in the rain, and we DID have ponchos. They were the old school ponchos too I had gotten on my family trips probably in the 90's, so they were thicker than the ones they sell now. BUT they were worthless. They ripped, we got soaked....we NEEDED rain jackets! And you also know I hate to waste money so I was kind of hoping we would get to use them at least once. Which brings be back to the morning of our second day, when I woke up to see rain....
Tom got up shortly after I did and he went down to Capt. Cooks to get breakfast while I got in the shower. He came back with 2 reusable mugs, a croissant for me, a Mickey waffle and Tonga Toast!
WAIT, we have breakfast at Kona Cafe tomorrow! You were supposed to get the Tonga Toast then! (Stephanie, I'm like you with "the plan!") Well, he had about half and didn't really love it so he went to his old favorite, a mickey waffle!! (Do I even need to exlain why
I did't eat the Tonga Toast?)
So we got our rain jackets out and realized that the pocket on the back of the jacket is actually meant to stuff the jacket into so we can carry it compacted. They fit perfectly in the orang sling bag and they were very light!
We got ready and walked to the TTC to hop on the monorail to Epcot. Tom had an appopriate shirt on and he has a public service announcement for everyone.
Tom snapped a few pictures of a rainy Spaceship Earth from the monorail.
I went straight to Guest Relations to purchase the Tables in Wonderland card and by that time, they were letting people through the turnstiles. We always walk to the right of SE, especially on the first few days. (The only time we walk to the left is if it's the last day we have in Epcot and we haven't ridded Test Track yet.) Well, like most others there, we were headed to Soarin'! BUT on the way, who do we see?? DAISY! I was so excited because I don't ever remember seeing her before! At least, not in the last few trips. So we got a picture. She was excited that we just got married and we posed with or rings.
I had never really been at rope drop before. We always get to the parks early but we either JUST miss it or we got for AM EMH, so I was excited to see that all the characters come out and that the CMs from each ride come over to bring the guests to that attraction. VERY well organized, IMO.
Off we went, following the CMs to Soarin'!
I really dislike that walk up to the Land and then down to Soarin'. Especially when we just need to grab a FP and leave. And even more especially when it seems like everyone else in the park is headed to the same place. As we were walking up the ramp to the entrance of the Land, I saw someone with lime green mickey head on his backpack but I didn't say anything. I don't remember why I didn't, either I was too far away or too much on a mission to get to that FP machine!
The CMs inside were directing us all to the right. I ran down to get the FP while Tom waited upstairs. Then we walked over to Test Track, with only a 10 minute wait! Woo Hoo!
I LOVE this picture in the "briefing room!"
After Test Track, we went to Tom's favorite store in all of WDW, MouseGear!!! We shopped for a little, took a few pics around the entrance to WS and even spotted Marie!! No one was around her and when we expressed our surpise to her handler, she said that Marie is hardly ever out. Wow, we are really lucking out on the rare characters today!
By now, our FP time came up so we went back to The Land.
Sorry buddy, but you gotta put your ears away!
And if you're too short, you need to put your belt through the loop. "Nice work, pal!"
The ride was AWESOME, as always! I always clap at the end, even if other people aren't! Usually a few people join in with me. When we exited the ride, Tom was inspired to SOAR!!!!
When we got out, there was no wait for Living with the Land, so we rode that before making our way to World Showcase!!!
UP NEXT: World Showcase and lunch at Chefs de France!!
