we signed up for this! Anyone done it?
Also, does anyone know if there's a DVC or AP discount - I forgot to ask!

We did it years ago ... the first January AKV Concierge was offered through DVC. I thought it was spectacular -- loved the "group dinner at Jiko's." I understand they no longer serve the dinner family-style with the guests at a single table. What a shame!

At the time there was no discount ... ??

We did it years ago, too. One of our best memories out of many trips! DD still talks about how the baby giraffe got within 2 feet of her! And the guides shared such interesting information. The meal following at Jiko's began our love of it - still one of our top 5 WDW restaurants.

It was a big splurge for us, and worth every penny. I hope to do it again one day.

Don't know about current discount, sorry.

We did it last March and it was fabulous. The safari around the resort was nice, but the snack at Jiko before the safari and the dinner afterwards was outstanding. Our dinner was served family style at a long table. The short snack before the safari was about 1/2 hour. The safari about 45 minutes to an hour. And we didn't get finished with our dinner until almost 8. One young couple on our safari was doing is as part of her winnings from a the Disney Magical contest last fall. They also got a night in the Castle and were heading there after the dinner.

We did it in May, loved it no discount for anything. There were about 12 people in the group, 3 of us. We were there a little early so it was just us and another couple at first for the pre-snack. Got lots of one on one time with the chef and the host. The guide on the safari was excellent, lots of inside info. and she made the safari special. The meal at Jinkos afterward was excellent, a cocktail was served with the ap, a glass of wine with each course. The couple across from us split a coffee press with us over dessert. You get a little goodie bag with a pin and some chocolate. I would do it again if I were to stay at AKL.

I've been fortunate enough to do it twice. I loved the first experience so much that when I got an unexpected bonus from work, there was no question how I wanted to spend it-doing the Wanyama Safari again! The biggest tip I have concerns the dinner-since the food is served family style, if there's something you want, take it right away! Last time there were a couple people who loved beef, so they took all the beef. Unfortunately, there was no server nearby to ask for more, and since there was plenty of chicken and fish, it wasn't apparent that we were out of anything. Also, 2 of us were non-alcohol drinkers the first time, and we weren't offered a soft drink. However, when the server returned we asked and got one. The second time, I just accepted the wine, then gave it away to my new best friend (LOL!)

We went last June, just my husband and I. It was really great, would love to do it again. At the time we went, it was family style, as was the lunch with an animal specialist. I am sorry to hear that there are some people who have such bad manners that they would take all of a particular dish without making sure that everybody had a chance to try it, particularly adults. Once my son and niece pulled that trick at the Ohana breakfast with the special bread they had. Auntie mom taught them a lesson about good manners that my son hasn't forgotten to this day. I have never tried the special bread at the Ohana breakfast because they ate all of it, and the server never brought more. Fortunately, we didn't encounter that when we went on the Wanyama safari, although, I wouldn't correct adults, except my husband, of course.

We purchased it for my DSIL and BIL for a special anniversary and they loved the time at Jiko. DSIL loved all of it, but her DH really liked the dinner with wine and conversation.

We have reservations for our December trip, we can't wait .... Theres a great video of this tour and the dinner on youtube also
