Walk of Shame - Shameful?

I don't like drops - I don't ride roller coasters or log flumes, etc. I've been to WDW several times and have always "held everyone's stuff" while they went on Tower of Terror, Space Mountain... Now I'm reading that the theming of the lines is pretty neat and that there's always an exit before you have to actually board the ride.

I've seen taking this exit referred to as "The Walk of Shame". Do people make fun of you? Cat calls? Laughs? Finger pointing???

I have no problem saying I don't like roller coasters but I don't know if I want to be made fun of by strangers.

No. You know why?

1. Most people wouldn't do that.

2. Even if they would, they wouldn't do it over something like that.

3. Everyone is so busy having their own good time that they won't even notice you leaving.

Go enjoy the line with your friends and bail when you feel like it. :)

I've never heard the term walk of shame.

I've heard them called the Chicken Exit. Now that I just typed that it doesn't really make it any better, but I have never seen anyone except maybe the people that they are with say anything.

Just be aware that the Chicken Exit at ToT is an elevator. :scared1:

I have never seen anything like that. Maybe I would rib someone in my own party good naturedly but a stranger? I don't think so.

So get in line. Hang out with your group and just ease on out at the end.:)

I wouldn't worry about it. To be honest, I don't even think I've noticed people leaving. I think, like me, most people are too worried or excited about themselves. LoL

Chicken Exit I have heard, Walk Of Shame I have not. And why anyone should care if you take it or not, or why you should care what they think if they do, I don't know.

The only thing I've ever heard called "the walk of shame" in connection with Disney is when someone is escorted out of the park for blatantly inappopriate behavior.

The only "walk of shame" I have ever heard of it when a person ... well, when a person leaves the residence the morning after a "night cap", if you know what I mean.

If I got talked into doing a let's say TOT again and I saw you leaving I'd probably join you!!! I am the one who always volunteers to hold bags and cameras too, and that is fine with me. The only coaster I ride is BTMRR.

I didn't know there was a chicken exit. I've always wanted to see the inside so I'm going to go see the hotel and proudly use the exit!:thumbsup2

Somewhere after my 40's I started to really not care what others think!:woohoo:

Disney is not a place where taunting a stranger would be tolerated. It's the Happiest Place on Earth. I think I would say something to a taunter.

A taunting type of atmosphere doesn't exist there. It's no Six Flags!

I would be surprised to hear that anyone taking the "alternate" exit being made fun of. I ride ToT but took the "tame" elevator once with my DW who was afraid to ride the ride. I wasn't at all embarrassed or uncomfortable. Actually it was fun to go that way just to see where that elevator landed. Get someone from your group to go with you and just laugh all the way!!:thumbsup2

I've also never heard of it referred to as "walk of shame"..in fact, the only times I've heard that term used in Disney related forums have been by overweight people fearing having to leave a ride they couldn't fit into...and this is purely their own self inflicted feeling about it, as I can't imagine anyone jeering or laughing at someone in that situation (but, no worries, wdw is very "pooh size" friendly).

Me, too! When I saw the thread title I thought that this post would be better off on the Resort Board. :lmao:

I've ridden the chicken elevator more than once. I like to walk through the hotel with my family and take in the details. No cast member has ever given me a problem or made fun of me for this. I'd hate to think that could happen to anyone.

I doubt anyone would 1) notice or 2) care....and if they did, I certainly wouldn't care. (Otherwise I wouldn't wear my oh-so-not-cool fanny pack :thumbsup2) My dad won't go on coasters, but I want him to come in the lines so he won't have to stay by himself and he'll see the theming. 30 days until our trip - woohoo:cool1:

Have fun and don't worry about what other people think.
