Hunter has been very sick with allergies and cold with sore throat. I also have the sore throat and now our help has one also.

Today we go to the Dr's office and make an appt. We go back at our time to find out they are really busy. Ok, give them our cell # and ask them to call us when they are really ready for Dr to see us, not just to go back. Tell them he is autistic.

We walk around grocery and hardware store for over an hour. Go back, say we are going home, please call us when it is our turn. At 3 pm, I call them and they tell me they are still busy and we can't be seen.

So, if we could wait in the waiting area and room, we could have been seen but because Hunter has autism and can't wait, we don't get to see a Dr.

I hate this SH*T! URG! :furious:

 I'm sorry you had to experience that!! I would definately voice your frustration with the office manager. I'm sure you made the receptionist aware of his needs and why you couldn't wait in the waiting room, would your son be ok if you could have been in a tx room for a long time? If so, then I would demand next time, this is what they need to do to accomodate him. Ok, I'm getting mad here too!! UGH!!!! Thats really horrible and unfair of them. If there is any place you expect people to understand your sons needs, it is their pediatrician! I do hope you are all feeling better! :goodvibes

Well, here we go again, this morning we are now driving over 40 miles to go to the same Dr. who is doing a clinic at hospital. It is just a walk in so we need to be first and again tell them he can't wait. So we will see if Hunter can wait in general area until the Dr. arrives. We are not going to leave and have them call us this time!

I am really upset and hate it but what can I do other than this as Hunter needs a Dr.

:sad2: Oh, April! Like you need the extra stress!

There's a house two doors down from mine for sale.......

We drove to Afton this morning and waited in the little room for over an hour. No one else was there we were just waiting for the DR. He finally arrives, gives us a new rx for Claritin and leaves to get us samples. We here on the over head Dr. Kirk you have a call and he returns 25 minutes later and says he didn't have any samples! Ok, I am sick, I am tired and my temper is short. But I hold it in. I ask for AmbienCR for me so I can just get a nights sleep and then ask for a handicap sticker for Hutner since he is a runner.

Dr. says that I have to get all the paperwork and after I do my part, he will sign. Ok, that is an answer.

So we have new claritin, and antibiotics for the nose yuck and I might get a nights sleep.

Kathy, where do you live again? Thanks for letting me vent. :Pinkbounc

I know how you feel, most of the time our Peds office is so busy that it's normal to wait 60minutes even with an appointment. My ds gets so upset about going to the dr in the first place then making us wait causes him to scream and cry every time. I've gotten to where I don't take him anymore unless it's an emergency. I've tried to find another dr but I haven't found one yet that is taking new patients.

Tissa, what side of town are you on? My GP's office you are in and out of in 15 minutes. He is at 1960/Jones Road.

This is something I have been having an issue with for 8 years now. I am sorry that it seems to be such a common problem. MY DD is not autistic but also has a huge issue with waiting and being nonverble she can get phyiscal with me when she in angry. The longest I have ever waited was over 3 hour and by the time I left my face was completely scrached up and my arms were bruised.Sending you a :grouphug:

We are on the south side by 45 and the beltway, the kids Dr is at Hermann Professional bldg in the med ctr. It cost me $10 in parking last time :sad1:

Thanks friends, I thought it was just small town bs but now I see it just is.

I am so fed up with the waiver. I can't get anything but housekeeping and my poor college students are working for free now while we wait for the waiver person to get them on my plan. I am back billing one girl.

The other girl submitted the fingerprints in her package and come to find out the cop didn't print well and they were rejected. Rejected over a month ago and no one said a word. It just sat there and we have been waiting. Now we start all over again! The wait.

I was also told that because I have started a home based program that I am going to be using up all my respite and my waiver money so I had to pay for all the educational and motivational tools out of pocket.

I won't even go into having Dr. Higbee here for 3 days and thousands for him to train us. Or the other thousands for the local autism specialist to help monitor our program.

I am just hating the system and life today.

Thanks Sue, we all have bad days, this is just my bad week. It will get better and unfortunately, it does me good to know that I am not the only one, but wish good days for all.
