VWL for the first time/Thanksgiving...

I think VWL is the only DVC property at which we have not yet stayed. Home resort is BCV but after a bit of a wait, we have VWL for our entire Thanksgiving week. A good time to stay? I thought the wilderness theme might be a bit inviting as the holidays approach.

We will be at VWL from 11/20 - 11/26. This will be our 3rd Thanksgiving at the resort. I love VWL especially around the holidays. The decorations are gorgeous. You will not be disappointed.

The Lodge is beautifully decorated for the holidays. Its theming is particularly suited for that time of year. Further, you can walk over to FW (there is a paved trail or you can take the nature trail that starts behind the bike rental) and take in the decorations set up by the campers there. It's a real hoot and worth the effort. It's right at a mile one way; you can always rent a bike if you'd rather or even drive if you have a car. The relative solitude of VWL is wonderful during the holidays, but you still have easy access to MK, CR, or even GF with its gingerbread house. We're a bit biased, but staying at the Lodge during the holidays is a treat. Enjoy yourselves!

VWL is always wonderful to be at, but that time of year is exceptional. IMO, it is the most beautiful of all the resorts during Thanksgiving/Christmas. Have fun!

Don't miss getting reservations for the Sleigh Ride at FW!

With a nice walk over from the Lodge starting the adventure, the feel of the season, with horse bells dancing in your ears, you wind through the camper's Christmas displays. There's a blanket for your lap if there is a nip in the air. Just too cool to miss!

I agree! We have stayed at VWL 2x for Thanksgiving and also eaten our Thanksgiving dinner WL while staying at BCV. It is the perfect decor for the holidays! While the parks will be busy, coming back to the Lodge is so relaxing. My best memories are walking after dinner around down to the geyser with my extended family. We also had a photo session done and used one of the pictures for our Christmas card and had many of the photos framed as presents for grandparents.

Our home resort is VWL and we love it during the holidays. It is beautiful at night with the big tree in the main lobby. We will also be there for Thanksgiving this year and we are looking forward to it, crowds and all.
