Vegas?

Hi there,

We are looking at having a longer vacation in 2012 staying in the Vegas area , has anyone any pointers on where,what and how. We then want to drive across to Disneyland and stay in the GC and then a DCL Cruise. Any tips would be appreciated. Many thanks.

I stayed at Tahiti village last Memorial day. It was down the street from the main strip. The rooms were really nice with a full kitchen. We had a one bedroom. There were two pools. One was a lazy river. There was a lot of kids. There is a shuttle that drops you off at New York New York hotel. There was a Denny's onsite. Across the street were outlets.

I usually stay on the strip. I have been there about 10 times. Whether you have a car or not, it's nice to stay on the strip and walk all around, go back to the room for a quick nap and then head back out. I don't know your budget for the trip, but the resorts always offer various deals on there websites. On the higher end I've stayed at the Wynn, and Mirage. For a little bit cheaper, I've stayed at MGM, Monte Carlo, and Planet Hollywood. All have been wonderful resorts. Planet Hollywood has the smallest pool, though. I would avoid Circus, Circus, Sahara, and Stratosphere, because they are on the very far end of the strip, and not the nicest locations. Have a blast.

Vegas, three days/night at most.

Drive to DL takes about 4 hours. There is a shuttle called Lux Bus.

DLR takes 3-5 days Not car needed at DLR, but you should spend a couple days around the area. Maybe San Diego Zoo or Hollywood. Possibly Universal Studios or Sea World. Gray hound has shuttle to both but a rental car is useful for these.

Will need to arrange transit to the port.

As far as I know, there are no DVC resorts in Vegas. You can always trade through RCI, but that's not a good use of your points.

Vegas has been hard hit by the recession. If you stay mid-week, you can get incredible deals. Really not worth a timeshare trade.

I agree with a PP - stay mid-strip. It's so much easier to walk to see all the sights. In addition to the upper-end casinos he mentioned, there are some good mid-range hotels. Bally's, Harrah's, and Flamingo are all good choices. Flamingo has an awesome pool. Stay away from Imperial Palace.

I never would have found this thread on the DVC boards, since I'm not a DVC member. I really think you'll get better responses here. JMHO

We stayed at Tahiti Village last year (timeshare exchange). Although our unit was not ready at check-in time, our overall experience there was better than we had expected.
