My husband and I have narrowed it down to a few choices but I need help deciding and you guys are the best decision makers. We are going to Vegas the last week of February and I don't know where to stay. The prices for 4 days are pretty close to the same, besides Harrah's which is way cheaper then the rest. I have included the resort fees in my price listed. We will be going from Feb. 24-28

You should probably heavily factor into your choice where you think you will be spending most of your time and where you think you might go clubbing.

I don't know for sure, but I suspect Harrah's is so much cheaper than the rest is because of all of the construction going on right there. I have seen plenty of comments from people saying they have stayed there recently and it wasn't noisy but the entrance area off the strip was a hassle. Have no idea what the status is expected to be in February of course.

I selected Bally's because I think it's one of the most convenient options.

Theres a lot you should consider when picking your hotel... Did you plan to watch shows? are you just going to see Vegas in general?

when deciding, i also look at where my shows are... so like, when we went to watch blue man group, i picked treasure island over monte carlo. both same price.

i picked treasure island. One thing i like about it is that its actually not a very big hotel/casino. U can walk around the entire building within 10-15 mins. Rooms are very modern.

I like Bally's or Paris. They are both center strip, right across from the fountain at the Bellagio and both are pretty cheap.

I voted Harrah's. That's where we stayed when DH and I went 5 years ago. It's mid-strip, the rooms were nice, the buffet was great, and it has Toby Keith's Bar. Lots of other hotels within walking distance so we could enjoy walking through them and enjoying what they had to offer.

Generally you're really not in the room much, you're out and about seeing and doing, so why spend a lot on a room where you're just going to sleep?

Monte Carlo and Treasure Island are a step up in niceness compared to the other two. I woud DEFINITELY factor in what you'll be doing outside your hotel, though. Vegas is way bigger than it looks so only a couple of casinos are in comfortable walking distance of each casino, pretty much.
Have you looked into New York, New York? It's nicer than Bally's and Harrahs and usually has good deals. It's across the street from Excalibur which has a free monorail to Luxor and Mandalay Bay (my favorite casino) and across the street from MGM. Cheap gambling at Excalibur and caddy-corner to NY, NY is Tropicana and a short walk to Hooters (if you want cheap gambling). That's our favorite area to stay since there's a lot to do in walking distance. Planet Hollywood isn't too far away from there either and they have a big mall.

I selected TI. I've stayed there and loved it but it really depends on what you'll be doing.

It seems when I'm there whichever end of the strip i'm staying at I want to be on the other! I like NYNY a lot to play, Caesars to shop, Mirage to walk through and people watch and Mandalay Bay to dine/have drinks.

If you plan to see a show, staying at that hotel can give you day of discounts. We stayed at TI and I wanted to see Mystere. I bought advanced tickets but the day of the show the hotel had left a message with a special for onsite guests. I took my tickets to the box office and got upgraded seats and a small refund.

Here is my feedback on the ones I have stayed: I did not care for MGM as it is just way too big. Caesars is my favorite but its too much money! Paris and Ballys are too much like every other hotel to me. Luxor surprised me, it was great for the price. I really did like TI and it was reasonable priced.

I would not stay at Harrahs.

We aren't sure what we are going to be doing yet. I know I want to go to Freemont Street one night. We want to go on the rides at the stratosphere. We want to possibly take a tour of the Grand Canyon the hoover damn. My husband want to gamble a little off strip (he thinks there is a better chance of winnng :confused3 ) We won't be gambling too much I am giving my husband a 400 dollar limit and me a 100 dollar limit so I'm sure that won't take long to go through. We want to go to Gordon Ramsey's restaurant. Other then that we are just playing it by ear.

Edited to add that we want to see the fountains one night too

Gambling is the same everywhere... however Freemont will give you the old fashion style of using coins and actually see coins drop!

You know, renting a car for a day to do all that doesnt sound like a bad idea. In the AM, visit Hoover dam. I dont know how far Grand Canyon is. Then night time, you can visit Freemont and, Stratosphere, maybe circus circus...

I've only been twice so I'll leave it to the others to recommend hotels, but as to gambling off strip, I agree!

My high school friends and I went to Vegas last summer for our 50th bday year, and we went to the Tuscan (very off strip) for a comedy show (which was so-so). We spent time there before and after gambling, and had our best gambling there. The tables were so much less crowded, there were far more cheap to play tables (the only kind I'll play), and better drink service since it's not so busy. :)

We also just had a better time with the dealers. Just a friendlier atmosphere, being so much less crowded.

What about Mandarin or Bellagio? Checked prices quick for Mandarin and Cityscape is around $275/night and strip is around $325.

The prices I put are for all 4 nights. Is is worth paying triple for the nicer hotels? So many decisions to make and I thought Disney decisions were hard

i know mandarin hotel is just more modern rooms, while the rest are just your standard usual hotel rooms. Question is, would u spend triple for nicer hotels to bath and sleep in?

Have you looked at The Golden Nugget? My mom stayed there for a girls weekend, and she loved it. They did a big renovation a few years ago, and she stayed right after that, so it might be more popular (and expensive) now, but at that point it was way cheaper. It's off the strip, but they used the bus system to get everywhere and had no problems. The doors open up to Fremont Street, and since you know you want to do that, it may be a good place for you.

I voted "other". My suggestions (in order of preference) would be Cosmopolitan, Palazzo, Aria, or Paris.

The rates you have listed for Ballys, Monte Carlo and TI are way too high for those Hotels, especially for a Sunday arrival and Thursday departure. I would not pay more than $60 per night for a room at Ballys.

Vegas is like WDW, there is so much to do there, and at the end of the day (no pun intended), your Hotel room is just a place to sleep and shower.

Enjoy your time in Vegas, it is my most favorite place on the Planet!!!!

Sorry, didn't realize that the prices you had was for all four nights. As for if it is worth it, that depends on you, as an individual. It's like Disney, some people are fine with All-Star and see no benefit to staying at the Grand Floridian, while others won't even consider a Value resort.

Yikes! Sorry OP, I thought the prices you listed were the nightly rate at each Hotel. Serves me right for not reading!!!

In that case, I would go for TI. Out of all you listed, I believe that TI is the one with the most recent room renovations.

One other thing, if cigarette smoke bothers you, get ready. In some of the older Hotel Casinos the ventilation systems are not that good. Ballys is one of the worst in my opinion. Along with Bill's. Our last trip, even the Bellagio was really smokey. I was never so happy to breathe in stale airplane air, than at the end of that trip....LOL! And no, I'm not trying to turn this into a debate about smoking.

I voted TI. I've stayed in what was then the Aladdin (now planet Hollywood) and more recently the Venetian. I would pick the Venetian end from now on.
