We are staying at the Excalibur and don't want to get taken by the taxi drivers. (& yes, the last time we stayed there, we were charged $14 for the trip from the airport to the hotel - and that was probably 7 or 8 years ago!) What route should we request? Tunnel or not? Thanks for all your help!

when i made our ressie @ excalibur the clerk told us to come in via tropicana rd (across the strip) - we'll have a rental car

NO TUNNEL !!!!! The tunnel takes you out of the way. The drivers will say the tunnel is "faster". Bull crap. It takes longer... and cost more. I am talking from many trips to Vegas. Of course now I found it is cheaper to just rent a car. Of course the reason it is cheaper is because I drive off the strip and away from the casinos !!!! I will do my sight seeing during the day, and then gamble at night. When I lose my daily allowance... I just go to bed. And then I start all over the next day. :cool1: :teacher:

living here in vegas, i can honestly say the tunnel does take you out of the way quite a bit, about a good 3-4 miles out of the way. cabbies are just ripping you off when they take you that route. from the excalibur that's all they would have to do is take trop about 1 mile to paradise make a right and that takes you into the airport.

Been to Vegas few times and never taken the tunnel.

So I'll so NO to the tunnel!

There is an airport shuttle for $6 a person or $11 round trip per person.

A taxi from the Tropicana to the airport was $14 including tip.

There are 4 of us in our party, so the shuttle doesn't make sense. Just trying to keep the taxi fare in check! :thumbsup2
