URGENT! Mystic Dunes - Anyone ever stayed at their 3BR? UPDATED questions....

We own a 3br unit there for New Years week. I've never used all three bedrooms, but the 2br part is nice. Free mini golf is a big hit with the kids. It's a nice resort and very convenient to the parks. We walked up on the top floor of our building one year on New Years Eve and watched fireworks from all the parks....

...wow, I didn't realize that it was THAT close by...

We stayed here in May 2 years ago on a time share exchange and it was great. Being DVC owners we were nervous about staying there but it was a free week given to us, so we figured it can't be that bad. We stayed in a 2BR villa and it was perfect! Very spacious, and clean plenty of room to spread out, the kids had their own place to watch TV and chillout. Prior to our arrival I emailed the front desk to ask to be in a building close to the Dunes Lagoon pool, nice pool with a slide that's kid friendly, and we were placed in the building next to the pool. We had a ground floor unit which was fine with us, and it made unpacking the car and packing to leave so much easier. The kids loved the mini golf and I think we ordered Pizza Hut from the main pool area for dinner one night. We didn't eat in their restaurant but we have heard from friends who stayed there this past Spring Break that the food was wonderful. They have activities for the kids going on all day and movies at the pool at night ...we really enjoyed our stay there. We also enjoyed the fact that we were not asked to tour their facility to purchase into their time share, the only soliciation that happened was from the woman who escorted us to our room, she wanted to now if we needed park tickets or show tickets at a discounted rate, which we declined and that was that. The resort location is not bad either, just off of 192 and you can take the short cut on Sherberth Road onto Disney property easily too. I am sure you won't be disappointed in your stay there ... we too wer leary about it since we never heard of it but we would definately stay there again!:thumbsup2

...sounds encouraging....well, they definitely have a 3 BR, but, looking at the layout of the room [online], it doesn't look like it'd really fit 12 comfortably....

Hello, my sister owns a three bedroom at this resort, so have stayed a few times. The master bedroom has a king bed the second room has two full size beds, the third room is a lock off they have no dedicated three bedrooms. It has a queen bed with sleep sofa, actually is the third area is an effeciency. There is a sleeper sofa in the livingroom as well. The accomadations are fine some building newer than others. The grounds are lovely though with numerous activities to do. There is a bar at the pool with cabanas that can be rented. A pizza hut express and a restaurant that is very good. We have eaten there numerous times and always enjoyed it. My sisters husband and mine are avid golfers and they enjoy the golf course, although it is not there favorite in the Orlando area they do find it challenging and well kept. I am sure your family will have a great time, just request one of the newer bulidings that overlook the new grotto pool and you should be fine. I cant remember the building numbers, but maybe someone else will and post. Happy travels.

...can you request a sprecific room or building?

We just request the building number with a pool view and top floor. Those apartments are tiled in the living area and can be quite loud as the dining chairs are wrought iron and very heavy. The noise level facing the pool may be a little loud if you leave the slider open. I just checked the website and the building we stayed in was #29 .

...thanks. And thanks for the 'heads up' on the noise level....I'm gonna call our friends and ask her to request a top floor.....

You can be at the Animal Kingdom in five minutes or less if you hit the lights green. It's a very short distance off 192 at the Disney end....

...green, schmeen - we don't NEED no stinkin' lights......:rolleyes1 [ ;) ]

...well, we are ooked for the 2st week of August....I'm soooo excited!! Any suggestions on which building to request??

...does anyone have any room pix that they can share??? Or, pix of the grounds too would be appreciated...:thumbsup2

We've never stayed here, but have done timeshare tours a couple times. It looks very nice but the units they show are the models. They seem to have a lot to do. It used to be called Wyndham Palms or something like that but it was never owned by the group now called Wyndham Vacation Club. We own Wyndham now and have for about 12 years and this was never one of their resorts. If the units are like the model, I don't think you can go wrong. I just don't know how well kept up they are. I'm sorry I am unable to give you better information.

I stayed there two or three times when it was owned by Wyndham. They had great rates on the two bedroom when they first opened a few years ago and we returned because we liked it so much. . The last time I stayed there it was just eh! The clientel was different and it looked run down. I do not know who owns it now or what it is currently like.

On my last trip I wrote a letter to Wyndham. I know that when you offer great multi-bedroom condos at a reasonable price, you tend to get less families and more groups of young college kids who tend to have drinking etc parites. Taht is What happend last time. The smell of pot was overwhelming and they did not pick up the trash. Offering great rates at these places is a double edged sword. You tend to get the Gator Motel clentel and sometimes that compromises the ambiance one is looking for in a gated resort.

Their website has resort photos and suite layouts. A google search should turn it up for you.

We've been there may times and as recently as about a year ago. I've never seen anything but families. Certainly never smelled any pot.

Wyndham has not been affiliated with the resort for many years, so if you wrote to them after your last stay, it must have been a while ago.

I said it was a while ago but I am thinking 5 years but no more than that was the last time I was there. Hopefully whoever took it over is doing a better job then Wyndham. Perhaps they let it run down b/c they were getting rid of it. I have noticed that Wyndham has gotten rid of other properites too. We took a tour in Williamsburg two years ago and that one is gone and we also took a tour in Newport RI last year and now that one is gone also.

Time flies, but I'm thinking it's closer to seven or eight years ago that Wyndham moved on. Wyndham never actually OWNED Mystic Dunes. As a timeshare, it's owned by the developers (which was not Wyndham) and purchasers of the intervals. When Fairfield changed their name to Wyndham, Mystic Dunes also changed.

....I'm hoping this is a GOOD thing...

...I did that already but I wanted to get other perspectives..you know, from guests who stayed there....

...oh PLEASE, won't anyone share their Mystic Dunes pix with me, hmmmm??

If you go to this site, and search for Mystic Dunnes resort on the right of the page you can access travellers photos. They are taken by guests not the stock photos. Hope this help.
