UPH passes (pre-purchase?)

we have an 8-day trip to VWL reserved for Oct.'04 and have questions on passes...

the Ultimate Park Hopper (formerly length-of-stay) is what we're looking to buy...

Can you buy over the phone from MS? Or do you have to wait to purchase when you check in? And is the 10% discount taken into consideration if purchasing at check in?

On the disneyworld.com site they offer on-line pre-purchase discounts, but not as much as DVC's 10%.

Thanks!

You can't buy the UMP prearrival using DVC points. So you can't combine the 4% or so discount plus the 10% DVC discount. Sorry.

You may want to confirm the price because something like a 6 or 7 day PHP may serve you better. Unused days never expire.

IMHO, the UPH only provides the best value on vacations of 12 days or more for people that travel less than once a year. All days after the 10th day are basically free. Even at that, a 10 day UPH is still more money than an AP, but you will get admission to PI, DQ and the water parks. The AP, however, will give you discounts at certain restaurants and stores.

agree.. The php also adds days that you basically get free. Depends on which php you get. obvious the more days you buy , the more you get to add either the water parks and so on at the end of your 4 major parks..

The 10% DVC discount is available only at the resort. You can't even buy a prepurchase UPH for a reservation made using points.

Usually, you will be allowed to drop arrival and departure days from the UPH (if you don't want them) and that will help keep the pricing lower too.

We have used the UPH for guests a number of times and found the cost to be better than a regular Hopper since we planned to and were able to go into the Disney parks each day and also enjoyed PI and DQ evenings.

Just do the math for your specific dates and see which will be more cost effective. Here is a link to <a href="http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/tickets.htm">WDW Ticket prices.</a> Just deduct the 10% discount from the number of days you'll be staying.

Enjoy!
