Hi - just wondering, is Uber still an option for Universal-Disney transport? according to the app it give a fare of 22-27 one way..... plus they have promo coupons, etc. this is def. a better deal than a shuttle..... for 3 people

Or Mears shuttle? I assume this runs differently than the dreams unlimited package with shuttle..... I need advice from anyone who has used these options

Would also love to know if Uber is still an option or is their a better way to get from a Disney resort to Universal?

I'm on here searching for the same thing! As I just did a fare estimator on Uber, it gave me the same price point op mentioned, and it says time frame for pick up is approx 5 min at the time of my search. I also estimated from POR to Animal Kingdom to get an idea of pricing, and it said pick up in approx 8 min. I'm assuming if it's giving me minutes for pick up time, as if I'm searching for pickup right now, it must be a viable option. Right? Hoping to hear from others who have used this, as it's cheaper than taxi, and hoping to hear if the rate ends up being consistent.

It is still an option but Orlando seems to be one of the cities strongly against Uber. There's signs posted throughout the airport advising against it. We were going to use Uber to go from WDW to Universal but when we walked out of our resort (CBR), there were cabs waiting so we just jumped in one. It was $28 including tip. There were two of us and that was from CBR to Royal Pacific. I think this is cheaper than Mears, and obviously more convenient since there was not a scheduled pick up time and no other stops.

We took one of the vehicles waiting at RPR to go to the airport when we left, which was more of a car service than a cab. It was a black Escalade and it was a flat fee of $55. I thought it was a little steep but had heard a cab would have been around $45-$50 anyhow.

Could you explain what you mean that you took one of the vehicles waiting and RPR? I am staying one night at RPR and returning to BCV and debating on renting a car or using some other service.

I plan to have Uber handy for my trip in a few weeks. I did some digging and found that Uber seems to be under fire from Orlando. Sounds like a buch of people that don't like competition to me.

Here is a link to one of the articals I found.

I will not worry about this. If I need a ride and Uber is more handy or a better price than I'll take an Uber car. If a cab company has an app that lets me get a taxi to me in a matter of minutes and at a good price than I will ride with them.

Rather than having a taxi stand with waiting cabs like most hotels, they seem to have a contract with a private car service (not sure what company) and there were consistently 3-4 towncars or black SUVs waiting to drive guests at the front of the resort. Just tell the bellmen at the front door you need a car, and they'll flag the next one for you and they will pull up. They seem to operate on a flat fee rather than a meter. Much more comfortable and cleaner than a cab too. If you'd prefer a cab, I'm sure the bellmen would call one for you but I think you'd have to wait. Seems like only these private cars are allowed to wait on property.

Not sure how much going from RPR to BCV would cost - we went from RPR to the airport - but we took a regular cab from CBR to RPR and it was around $28 with tip. Just an FYI so they don't try to overcharge.

Mears has spent a fortune keeping all competition out of the Disney/Universal area, now it is spending a fortune fighting off Uber.

So it sounds like Orlando/Mears is fighting off Uber... However, does anybody on here actually have any experience with Uber getting around Orlando. To/from Airport to Disney. Going between Disney and Universal...etc.
Would love to hear if others have used Uber recently and have positive/negative feedback. The pricing does seem to be better than a taxi. My hubby uses Uber all the time when he travels and prefers them to a taxi, especially when he's in New York.

Okay I rode in one from HRH to PBH for a massage appt. and back. It was complementary and I tipped the driver. Didn't know they went off property, I will look into it in March if my entire party of 5 wants to leave RPR and return to BCV at the same time. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the idea everyone -- we are having dinner at 1900 PF our first night and taking the bus from our resort would take an HOUR.

I had a friend send me a referral code and now we've got a free ride on Uber -- which would normally cost between $7 and $15 and take only 13 minutes of travel time. SCORE!

I've used Uber in and around Disney many times over the summer and again in early December. Nothing but positive experiences.

So using Uber to go from resort to resort on Disney property is an option? We have one night pre cruise and I don't want to spend the time on buses.

It looks like the best option for us -- not only would it take an hour to do, I can just imagine taking my girls on a bus to one of the parks and then to not go in, but get on another bus?

There would be extra fireworks at WDW that night.

Glad to hear from the folks who've used it at WDW, Missyrose! I have friends at home who love it.

My DD checked the Uber app when we arrived at MCO on Monday and it said they are not allowed at the airport. I'm sure you can use it other places, but it seems they can't pick up at MCO. We took a cab to RPR from the airport, it was about $47 plus tip, and also had one of those black town cars back for the $55 flat rate.

Yes, resort to resort is most definitely an option. They can pick up/drop off at the parks too. Only limitation at this point (as shown below) is Uber cannot pick up at MCO. It's an agreement Uber came to with the airport to avoid a lawsuit.

It is good to hear that from someone who has used this service. Has anyone else had any experience with Uber at Disney world that they can post on here? I will be staying at a hotel off Disney property for a conference and the hotel does not have a very convenient shuttle schedule to the parks. How accurate is the fare quote and how often have people run into this "serge pricing" situation?

I've seen that as of March, 2015, people are still reporting that Uber is not picking up at MCO. Has anyone used Uber to get TO the airport (MCO) from Disney lately?
