i really didnt/dont know much about Disney, except what ive learned stalking these boards, and we winged it on our trip!
and it turned out pretty well i think!
We went to WDW from September 16th to the 26th, and stayed at port orleans Riverside. Also went with free dining, but upgraded to DELUXE.
This was my first trip with my husband,
my first trip since 1987, when i was 4. so, pretty much my first trip.
My husband's last trip was 1986, and he cant remember much of it except for 20,000 leagues under the sea.
which i broke to him gently that it was no longer there.
So this is me:
We are from Appleton WI. yes i like the packers. yes, cheese is a food group to me.
I am a CMA at a doctors office so i draw blood, give shots, room patients, and take abuse. i really love my job!
Ive wanted to go to Disney for awhile now. No real reason. Looked and sounded fun. When I started looking into it i couldnt believe how much was actually INVOLVED in booking a trip to WDW.
decided to go in september 2011 because we would be celebrating our FIVE YEAR wedding anniversary! yay!
i booked my trip at about 390 days out and the wait was pretty painful, to say the least.
This is my husband Tim:
hes pretty awesome. he knows it. He is in a union. builds powerplants. loves the packers. will pretty much roll with anything if it makes me happy. hes a great guy. His favorite Disney animated movie is WALL-E and live action movie is the BLACK HOLE. he loves comics and video games.
so we had our flight leaving appleton at 530. plan was to be up at 4 am, and taxi would be at the house at 420.
WHO SLEEPS BEFORE A TRIP!?
seriously.
tim had the camera next to him that morning and this is what he took
then i checked off the last day of my countdown and tim brought out the luggage to the living room
i sat and waited for the taxi that wasnt there yet
and tim read a graphic novel (which my bf from grade school wrote, shameless plug, check it out!!!!! picket line by breena wiederhoeft!!!)
Misc. airport pictures:
putting shoes back on! love the TSA!
Layover was in Chicago. got to go under the pretty neon lights
Pretty uneventful flight. i did word search and fell asleep for 30 minutes.
We landed in Orlando. Can you tell ive been waiting awhile to get the HECK OFF THE PLANE! wow. slowest onloading EVVVVVER. and it wasnt just because i was nearing disney. it was slow.
Found where we needed to go in the airport(thanks to many trip reports for that! that place can be confusing!)
got our ME. watched our video.
now had a problem here.
We were renting a car from National in the Dolphin. thanks to the United/Continental merge they moved our flight arrival back an hour. so we were arriving at 1245 and had to get our rental site BY 330. yes. it was very close.
so took ME to port orleans riverside, which of course was THE LAST STOP then hailed a taxi and sped to the dolphin and got our car.
cut it very very close.
Then went back to POR and checked in. SO HAPPY!!!!
Then i got overwhelmed of finally being THERE and tim got me with something caught in my eye.....
got the cups
jumped in the rental (which was embaressingly ugly) im sorry if you drive one of these cars by choice. we hated it. we nicknamed her Brunhilda. See, im covering my face so no one sees me get in it.
got an awesome new refurbished room. we really loved it. in the magnolia mansion. right over the bridge yet away from the main walkway so quiet. very pleased. had no specific requests. just paid extra for a king sized bed
up next....walking around the resort and our very first dinner at WDW!
