transportation from ship to airport

besides taking the bus, what is the preferred easiest, cost effective way to get from ship back to airport. if it is rental car company pickup, how easy is it to schedule pickup and how efficient are they?

I have used both Avis and Budget rental car companies in the past without any problems. Both companies have free shuttle service from the port to their rental office. Once you get off the ship, go outside of the terminal and look for the line for the rental car company you have your reservation with, there is no need to call them. I think the longest we waited to get a shuttle was about 15 minutes. In fact, after our last cruise, we walked up to the Budget line just as a shuttle van was pulling up, and since there was only one family of three ahead of us, we got on the van with them and were at the Budget office within 10 minutes.
