Toy Story Characters

I am planning a trip to WDW in late April, and I'm curious if the Toy Story characters are ever in any of the other parks besides MGM. I've read that they hang out at Al's Toy Barn at MGM, but I haven't seen anything about them being anywhere else.

I've got a 2 year old that is a Toy Story fanatic, so we HAVE to see Buzz and Woody, but I was hoping that they also made appearances in the Magic Kingdom. Any ideas?

This site has been a wonderful tool in helping me plan our trip, I'm so glad I found it! Thanks in advance for your help,
lee

Mine is fanatic as well. This is what I found out. There are no Toy Story Character Meals... bummer. You have Buzz Lightyear's ride in the MK. You have Pizza Planet at MGM (a pizza take out)w/ small statues of the characters (like in the Disney Stores) and a once in a while visit from a character, but not often and not to be expected. You have the parade which has the characters on a float and walking along the float (I think) at maybe the MK and MGM. You have Al's Toy Barn area at MGM w/ actual character greeting times (your best bet).

They are redoing the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon at the MK into something called "Goofy's Extravanganza" or "Goofy's something...." I thought we'd go this year but it is not to open until July of 04. Originally they were to serve food like at the Horseshoe, but now it is just a show like the Beauty and Beast Show at MGM. The characters performing will be WOODY, Jessie, Bullseye, Goofy, and Chip and Dale. You'll most likely just miss it this trip, but keep it in mind for the next time you go. I was also disappointed that we would miss it since we are going next week.

Lastly, you can always try Disney's Toys on Ice in your hometown. We just took my son a couple weeks ago and he LOVED it. That gave him a little bit of Toy Story to enjoy before the big trip. Hope this helps.

Goofy's Country Dancing Jamboree is open right now !!!!!!!!!!!! It's a 20 min. show and the characters come down on the floor to dance with the kids.

I've often seen Buzz hanging out in Tomorrowland at MK. His exact location seems to change from time to time but he's usually somewhere in that land. Last time I was there his location was over by Cosmic Ray's. None of the other characters from Toy Story make appearences in any other parks besides MGM, but Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye appears in the "Goofy's Country Dancin' Jamboree" in Frontierland. There are no autographs or photo opertunities with the characters, but the kids may be able to dance witht he characters in the show.

NO WAY!!!!!

Well, I am glad I checked out this thread because a MS gal called me back on the phone to tell me it wasn't opening until July. I had asked her about it after I read about it in the books I bought on WDW and she checked into it for me. Guess she heard wrong, but I am glad she was wrong, because my little guy would just love that show. Thanks so much!

And I did hear about Buzz dropping by near his ride at the MK. Thanks for bringing that up. I forgot to mention that one.

That's great about the Jamboree though. Yippee!!!

My Aunt went to the show at Thanksgivng time when they were there. Their pictures are great !!!!!!!!

My DS2 is a Buzz and Woody freak too!!! We saw Buzz both mornings we were at MK during Thanksgiving week. He was at the edge of tomorrowland close to the teacups- sort of 'across the road' from them. Just ask a cm or guest relations, they will be able to tell you where and when he'll be. We did Al's Toy Barn at MGM twice. The first time was Buzz and Jessie- no Woody. We asked and they said that after the next break, Woody would come out. Then is was Buzz, Woody and Jessie. Be aware- Woody is very tall!!! He is so tall that he didn't come from inside the building that Buzz and Jessie did, he came from around the building and entered the area through a fence. DS was a little intimidated by his 'tallness'- he'd touch him, but no hug- he just kept looking up.
We did the Goofy show at MK. It was OK- not very organized and DS didn't understand why he couldn't go talk to Woody. The characters all come to the floor and dance- but no opportunity for posed pictures or autographs. We were in the circle with the characters, but Woody was on the other side. DH had to leave with DS b/c he was screaming and holding his arms out for Woody. DD4 was fine- older and understood better. This show is neat, I just found it chaotic.
Good luck!!!

Thank you all so much for all of this info and your quick responses! We'll have to catch the Goofy show, and try to get to MGM.

lcfga : You are welcome! Of course this is a very important topic, as we all know!

tink2: My heart broke when I read about your Toy Story Fanatic. My DS had to be pulled away screaming from the Buzzy statue (for pictures) at the Disney Ice Show. He just didn't understand that he had to make room for the little girls standing in line behind him so they could get their pictures. It just makes a mom feel sooo bad. But I did love your detailed description of the show, so thank you. I'll have to check it out.

I also have a son that is a Buzz Lightyear fanatic. We saw Buzz this past December close to Cosmic Ray's. It was a wonderful suprise for my son. If you don't see him, just ask one of the CM's. They can call someone and find out IF and WHERE he will be that day. Good Luck!

We once saw Jessie and Bullseye on the wooden deck in Frontiertown just down the water from the boats to Tom Sawyer's Island. Given the area they were positioned, I doubt that we ever would have seen them from the normal guest walkways. It just so happened that my wife caught sight of them while we were on the raft returning from TSI. DS is another big Toy Story fan, so we high-tailed it over to that location after getting off the raft, and there were only 3-4 families ahead of us.

That was just about a year ago, so no guarantees they are still appearing in this location.

Guest Services at any theme park can tell you exact character times / locations if you ask.

Oh - I am so envious! Me and my nephew would have loved to ever find Bullseye doing a meet and greet! I always wondered if Bullseye had a stamper for autographs - I have read conflicting posts on that in the past. Every time I am at WDW, I ask for Bullseye, and always told he is not there or just in the Goofy show.

Lucky you for finding him! :)

Last week, Buzz was near the entrance to Cosmic Rays (the T-Cup/castle side) every time I walked by! :)

We just got back yesterday. We did see Buzz, Woody, and Jessie at Al's Toy Barn at MGM, but we also saw Buzz at a scheduled character meet and greet at the MK near Cosmic Ray's. We saw him there on Wednesday and again on Friday. Hope this helps...............P
