tour guide mike or touring plans

Do you recommend tour guide mike or touring plans for the crowd predictability calender? Is tour guide mike worth the extra cost? We are taking our 1st trip to WDW and unfortunately it has to be over new years for work reasons. We are trying to find out which parks would be the least crowded during the day because we would most likely be back at AKL by about 8p each night because of the kids.
