I don't hear much about Tony's Town Square...is it a hidden gem or a "don't waste your time" kind of place?

I would say it's a "don't waste your time" kind of place. However, I have not been since 05. Service was bad-food was bad-not much of a selection. Maybe they have gotten better since then. They used to have great breakfasts-many years ago(like 10 years ago). Would not be one of my choices-but if nothing else was available, I would be open to trying it again.

Agree. Don't waste your time there. Try the Plaza restaurant if you are looking for a hidden gem.

we are eating there in October and looking forward to it. We never base our restaurant choices on other people's experiences because everyone's preference is different. We have heard most people say that they do not like Sci-Fi, Nine Dragons, or Planet Hollywood and we love all of them so it really is a matter of personal preference and taste.

I like it fine, especially the calamari. Nothing outstanding, but good enough for me.

I it looks good to you then try it. Peoples opinions are subjective and even if 10 people tell you they dont like it you may still love it! Before our first trip I read a lot of negative comments about Sci-fi but we tried it anyway and now it's one of our favorites.

I would suggest looking up the "food porn" thread and checking out the pictures. It might give you a better idea of what to order and if it's your kind of place.
:goodvibes

We enjoyed our meal there very much last December. To me its a hidden gem in that it and the Plaza are about the last places inside the MK to eat that don't require such advance planning. I still recommend an ADR, but its been nice to have been able to make a last minute ADR there on more than one occasion. The food is your basic, chain style Italian. About like an Olive Garden. Nice sized portions too. And we love the Lady and the Tramp theming and the views of Main Street from the patio and sun room tables. Give it a try, you won't know until you do. And I am like the other poster, I enjoy a lot of places others don't and never let bad reviews sway me on any dining decision.

I think the theming is really cute. The food is ok, but the atmosphere was worth it to us!

This is my least favorite Restaurant in Disney....And I have been to most of them(not all the ones in Epcot though, only a few of those)

...If that says anything

I'm Italian, so my standards for Italian food are normally pretty high, but I knew this wasn't going to be mom's home cookin' when we dined here. Ate at Tony's last August. Didn't repeat this August. 'Nuf said!

We actually like Tony's. We've eaten there at off times and got really great service. The food was good and the theming is cute. Its not our first pick in all the property. But we like it none the less. Are we planning on going back, yes. I would give it a try. The portions were huge when we went so we shared two meals between three of us and had left overs still.

I am Italian and we ate there this past August. We LOVED it! Tony's was one of our best meals during our trip. I really think it takes a bad rap. We had excellent service and really enjoyed our food. Even my 3 yo finished her meal which is the ONLY meal our whole trip she finished. Our waiter was excellent. We loved it! It was a great surpise because I read reviews and they were mixed. I love Italian food and yes it is not like my nana's cooking no Italian resturant is but it was very yummy. I had the eggplant dish. It was like eggplant rollatini over pasta. It was great.

Like others have said don't let others negative reviews stop you from going to a resturant that interests you. Everyone's tastes are different.

Have a great time and enjoy!

We went there this past June and really enjoyed it! It was my birthday, and the waiter had everyone sing and wave their napkins in the air. We were on the porch area (indoors), and there were birds coming in and out through the door, which we thought was sweet. We'll most likely go again next time we visit WDW. :)

We tried it a couple of years ago and liked it. The steak was terrific and I ordered that both times so far. I may try something different this year but you can bet it won't be the spaghetti and meatballs. The bottomline is that you never order spaghetti and meatballs out if you're italian because noone can make gravy like grandma.

I too am Italian and I enjoyed it very much. There are many areas of Italy they each have different cuisines. I would go and form your own opinion.

As you know Tony's gets mixed reviews, but we have had some good meals there and it has a very nice atmosphere. If only I could get a glass of wine with dinner! ;) My DW and I have dinner ADR's for our upcoming December trip. :goodvibes

We've never had a bad meal at Tony's. We have two ADR's for our next trip in November.

We ate there 2 years ago Halloween before Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Everything we had was good - not excellent but the prices did not require an excellent rating. We are going back this year for MNSSHP and are eating at Tony's at 4:40 PM. We have probably eaten at 85% of the sit down restaurants in Disney World. Tony's would not be on our top 5 but we are going back since we do like it. The lack of wine with an Italian dinner is my only complaint.

Not wonderful, not inedible. For us it served its purpose as a non-character TS meal in MK that had something my crazy-picky son would eat (penne pasta w/tomato sauce on the side :headache: )
To me, it is similar to an Olive Garden, Carrabas or restaurant chain Italian food. There's nothing wrong with it.
