Tony Toon does DDP

Yes check which you are at.
WP Express is great value on DDP but expensive to pay OOP, although all WP places are expensive OOP. http://allears.net/menu/menu_wpe.htm

I guess it's all relative as we always pay OOP but actually think that by Disney standards it's not that expensive but hey I'm used to eating out in London. We also use one of our discounts here can't remember which one but we have AP, DVC and TiW so it could be any of them :confused3

For a counter service the food in really good, I mean come on look at Mrs TT's piccys of that wonderful meatloaf... I'd be happy to be served that in the Hard Rock Cafe here in London. I also like that you get to eat off china and with silverware so woo-hoo I do expect to pay a little more than at a usual Counter Service restaurant - plus they bring your food to the table and there are free refills, which the staff will refill for you so we end up leaving a couple of $ bills to say thanks.

I agree, I didn't think WPE looked that expensive. However, I've checked and my reservation is at the Cafe. Having looked at all the menus just linked, I'm now considering ditching the ressie and choosing WPE! I'm going to show the menus to OH and see what he says first but I think I'd be happy with either.

PS - sorry for slightly tangenting your thread Mrs Toon!

I agree also. Personally, I think you are always going to be paying a premium to eat onsite but we don't mind as long as the food is good, which it consistently is at WPE.

Viki, we have eaten several times at WPE and a couple of times at the Cafe. We like both. If the menu appeals to you at the Cafe, then keep your ADR. The white choc cheesecake there is delicious, as is the Key Lime Pie. We also like the ribs and the schnitzel (if they still have it).

Sorry Mrs TT for hijacking - normal service can now be resumed :flower3:

We shouldn't compare it to CS because its not but its also not TS, so its difficult to compare with anywhere else. Our bill is usually $70-80 when we have dined there on DDP, to me its not worth that, for that money we eat at places like Cheesecake Factory or for less money at just about anywhere we dine offsite, never pay more than $50-60 for our evening meal.
I suppose compared to others onsite then yes its not too bad but we wouldn't pay for meals onsite without DDP, I just compare to offsite as thats where we eat without DDP.
We always leave $5-10 on DDP, not sure I would if I had to pay their prices for the meal, I am only so generous when we don't pay the bill.:goodvibes
I guess what we all pay at home for meals also comes into it. We went out on Thurs eve for a meal with friends, a great curry house, Poppadoms all round, 5 starters & 5 main courses with 5 sides, total bill £44.75, not a chance we could eat for that price when visiting my Brother in London, we pay roughly half the price for a pint up here comapred to down there, usually £1.99-£2.50/pint

I thought it was expensive but worth it given that we're here until 1st August. We have the 14 day ultimates and I have an AP which expired yesterday. It was $263 to upgrade Tony's and $215 to renew mine. We hadn't used any water park days yet and so this was the price for the standard AP. It will cost $106 (inc tax) to take Water Park APs saving $35 each on the upgrade to Premium APs. We won't visit DisneyQuest. Would love to fit another couple of visits in but more than unlikely (Tony's DD & family just emigrated to Tenerife so visits there now on the cards). :thumbsup2

Mrs TT

$263 + £230?paid = $620 the AP costs $611 so just slightly more than it should be. Did you do it at DTD guest relations? might have been better asking at a few places. I have just printed off this post (we have 21 day Ultimates) http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=45211897&postcount=1
I will try HS first, most of the best prices I have seen have got them from there.

No problem. It's great when a comment prompts a question that others can help out with. :)

I asked for quotes another places and they were all $263 so when DTD quoted the same and were also able to do credit my ultimate against AP renewal we went for it. The one place I didn't ask was of course HS......... :confused3 but hey ho it's only money! I'm consoling myself with the fact that we'll get plenty of use over the next 4 weeks and once we leave OKW will save on all those parking charges. My TIW card from last year is valid until the end of August so at least I won't have to renew that. :thumbsup2

Sunday 8th July.

We decided to support my fellow Scot, Andy Murray, and had already sussed which channel the match was on so started the day with an OJ in the room and bagels, cream cheese and coffee from Goods.

After the match we packed a bag for Typhoon Lagoon and took the ferry to DTD where a second visit to WPE was called for. Tony opted for the Chinois Chicken Salad - just the sort of flavours he loves, honey/ginger dressing, cashew nuts and wontons plus some healthy green stuff. :rotfl:

I decide to try the Vegetable Pizza. - very juicy.

Same dessert picks a yesterday, but this time Tony opted for the chocolate sauce rather than the choc chips.

Delicious and once again drinks to go. As others have said, it's not just the quality of the food that impress here, it's the fact that you eat from proper plates with proper cutlery rather than the disposable variety.

We catch the bus to Typhoon Lagoon, pick up an AP for Tony (mine from last year is still valid) and head over to the beach area beside Crush and Gusher to select a couple of loungers to relax on for a while. A gentle float around Castaway Creek, then another snooze before we head back for the bus and OKW just in time to miss the first thunder storm of the holiday!

All changed and back out for the bus (and it would appear our customary lengthy wait) to DTD and our ADR for Raglan Road. We have booked here in the past and then cancelled but decided to stick with it this year. A wise decision. Tony opted for sirloin steak with a whiskey marmalade, onion rings and mash.

I meanwhile decided upon Kevin's Heavenly Ham. Roast loin of bacon, savoy cabbage, colcannon, creamy parsley sauce and an apple and raisin jus.

To finish with the chocoholic in Tony couldn't resist the Dunbrody Kiss (chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate spoiled by a few strawberries)

DSCN2949.jpg

and I picked raspberry pavlova with vanilla bean ice cream and raspberry coulis.

Another delicious meal courtesy of DDP which Tony washed down with a Guinness. :thumbsup2

We wandered around Pleasure Island and Westside before hopping on a bus back to OKW.

Tony looks very content there with a pint of Guinness. Great pic:thumbsup2

Ummm hellooooo Raglan Road.... I seriously have to stop reading live trip reports.... I was just saying today how I didn't fancy Raglan Road, it's been a few years but wowser your meals look great.

Oh and that salad at WPE - yumorama!

Now I am hoping you OKW experts can weigh in here... I am concerned about your lengthy waits for buses at OKW. We're booked on our DVC points and unlike a lot of you I LOVE the hustle bustle of a main pool so am definitely booked in at a 1BR near to Hospitality House but I'm now questioning this decision because of the buses and I'm not sure what to do?

Looks like you are having a great time so far, and those food pics - even as a vegetarian I'm drooling!

Only just spotted your reports :thumbsup2

Food pics are fab :thumbsup2

Hope you are enjoying your holiday :goodvibes

how did i miss this live trip report?????????????????????

your trip sounds fabulous!!!! thanks for all the pictures!!!!
and totally loving the food porn!!!!! :thumbsup2

Fantasia Sam - As we have said, we are staying practically across he road from Hosp.House (reception). For those who don't know, the buses (from anywhere) enter the resort and pass Hosp.H and traverse the site stopping several times at various spots before finally returning to Hosp H and returning to the parks etc. The answer we have found is to get off the bus at he first stop (Peninsular Rd) just beyond the main pool area and walk back, a bit further than Hosp H but saving 10 mins sitting on the bus. So don't worry, the extra walk is no problem at all.
For the foodies - coming up, pics of a sensational meal at "Hacienda" with Illuminations in the background.:goodvibes
