I heard about this on our local radio station. They were talking about how funny it would be if Disney would sue Hamas for copyright infringement. They stated maybe since nobody else could stop them, maybe Disney could sue them for all they are worth and put an end to them.
You have freedom of speech, you can burn the flag, but DON'T MESS WITH THE MOUSE!

I was wondering how Disney could go about stopping this. Can Disney sue Hamas and the TV station for patent infringment. (They do have a patent on Micky, don't they?) Maybe they should set up something to beam into the countries this is being televised in to override the signal or counteract what is actually being shown. Mohammed Mickey anyone?

Just got finished watching Glen Beck and he was talking about this montrosity and he joked about who to be more afraid of, Hamas or the Disney lawyers. He chose the lawyers.

But this is probably in the same boat as all of the intellectual infringement going on in Asia. Why does the entire world feel it is okay to steal from America? Just think about all of the American inventions that have been hijacked, cars, tv's, computers, etc.

i really dont know if Disney could sue!! i mean if the can they should, but do the have a trademark on the high pitched voice? or can they get the judge to believe that because it "is extremely simalar to mickey mouse" that Hamas is the bad guy. Im not at ALL saying i like Hamas!
it just might be impossible to sue!
because i know they have a patenet with the name mickey mouse, and the image, and the image probably isnt exact to the one disney has. but it depends what else they have a patent on. Hamas would of had to copy exactly what disney had a patent on for disney to sue..right?

sometimes if they can prove that it's intended to be the same character because it's similar enough, they can still sue. Will be interesting to see what happens.

A local Mom and Pop business here opened with the name Bibles R Us. A few months after their opening they were visited by the Toys R Us attorneys. They couldn't even change their name to Bibles are Us. Somehow they said it was too similar. I'm sure Disney has themselves cover as well if not better then Toys R Us. I am sure they will do what needs to be done to protect the Disney brand.

It's not so much the blatant copy that bothers me but it's what they're using it for. "America is so bad ! You have to hate America ! And while you're hating, don't forget to copy the American successes and use them to your advantage!".

We have a few of that kind of people here too (though it's nowhere as tragic and they ARE a minority).
People on TV in Levi's and Gap shirts, holding a cell phone in one hand and a Coke in the other, saying they don't like the US.

I wanted to bump this up because, sadly, this is the first time I've seen it. I don't know, perhaps my dh was sheilding me from the nightmares. Embarrassingly, I haven't been reading the news much...it's depressing.

With all this new terrorist stuff, I can't help but wonder. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but it just seems strange that they kill this lookalike off and 2 weeks later we're getting warnings from the government. In addition to that, the latest "tape" states they are going to attack "the happy man" or something to that effect.

I'm hoping someone will put me in my place and tell me I'm being completely paranoid. Seriously, I won't be upset. I'm paranoid right?
