(This OP post here is actually 13 years old. A new one on page 4, post #69)
.....and also to a few folks who are not.
Just stopping for a moment, as the year runs short
, to wish everyone here, and elsewhere, wherever that may be, a very Happy, Healthy and Good New Year.
Many of us become friends over the years here, having met in this crazy world we call.....online; and have become cyber friends, buddies, online friends. And, many of us have, over time, actually met up in real life and become real-life friends. It is a nice community, in spite of some of its shortcomings.
Sure, there are arguments, name-calling, disagreements, what-have-you, but generally, in the end, friends. Hopefully, all can be friends in 2006, making for an even better community.
Pixie dust maybe, but hey, who knows?
I heard this song this morning, on WGN talk radio, thought it had some good things to say, some true things. Yeah, it's by that sort of cheesy group, ABBA (I really do like some of their music and sound), but still, give a listen, read the lyrics, I found they can ring true......................
It would be so neat to let the past be bygones, everyone getting along. And I would be the first to say that I too carry grudges, sometimes way too long. (okay, quit singing that Kumbaya song now, LOL
) Who knows, maybe I will get over them too.
And it would be so very neat to see many who have left in the past, on their own, or otherwise, return, or be allowed to return (please, don't take this thread as questioning management, it is not, just thinking good things here, and please, if anybody replies here, please do not take it down that other path.....thanks).
As I type this, rereading my thoughts, listening to this song in the background, I do have some tears
but then some of you know me to be a big sap in that category; but, hey, it's the way I feel, what can I say.
I like to think good things, good things that have been, good things that could be.
Anyway, enough of all that.............
Happy New Year, guys.
Dan

The Way Old Friends Do
(click for sound)
You and I can share the silence
Finding comfort together
The way old friends do
And after fights and words of violence
We make up with each other
The way old friends do
Times of joy and times of sorrow
We will always see it through
Oh I don't care what comes tomorrow
We can face it together
The way old friends do
You and I can share the silence
Finding comfort together
The way old friends do
And after fights and words of violence
We make up with each other
The way old friends do
Times of joy and times of sorrow
We will always see it through
Oh I don't care what comes tomorrow
We can face it together
The way old friends do
We can face it together
The way old friends do
