Hello All-

The Whitehall Room at the Grand Floridian has been updated.
What's New: New Wallpaper, drapes/window treatments, and the biggest news of all...
the Bird Mirror and permanent table have been removed.

It's now much more versatile for smaller events.

first of all - that cracks me up!

i loved this room for us, i have to say - and these pictures of course are before or after something? - but it doesn't look improved. the carpet was new for us (last summer?) and looks good. in person, i could see that the wall paper needed a little sumpin' sumpin'. strangely we have several great pictures kind of "ruined" by the emergency exit signs/fire alarms! not that they can do away with those, but the trellis wall paper and color of the room make them stand out. i liked the bird mirror and the table looked good with it, but i agree that it is probably better to have flexibility in the room rather than a set focal point. so great for renovation - but how come it seems like they never do a whole room at once, its always one little part, shut down, one little part.... seems like more work to me!

I agree the drapes do not match the carpet at all. They need a more subtle carpet, in my opinion. I hated how the carpet looks so orange...I thought it limited how much you could "change" the look of the room with decor. I do love the new wallpaper though. It just looks awful with the carpet!

I do think it was nice having that permanent table there...it was a gorgeous table and it was a nice way to display things. We used it to put our programs on with some rose petals, and the videographer set up the sneak peek so all of our guests could view it during the reception. It's nice that the birds are gone, but I really didn't notice them all that much once we were in the room with everything set up.

I know the room had a lot going on before, but it sort of gave it "personality". Now it's just .... blah. The new carpet gave it a lot of potential, but those drapes are hideous and are nothing like the carpet.

Thanks for posting the pictures though! It's always interesting to see what changes are happening.

I don't like the new drapes. I think they are too big and overpower the room. I agree with Amber. They don't match the carpet. I do like the carpet and the new wall paper. I also liked the table to display things. I love the bright, airy look in Sambycat's pictures.

I'd love to see pictures! I've always loved whitehall but the bird picture was a deal breaker for me. I'm happy they finally got rid of it.

We just had our reception there (9.16.11) and the room was amazing. I will post a pic when we get one, but there wasn't one thing I would change about the room. The Whitehall was perfect. No complaints at all...or about the wedding. I may post a trip report but right now, there aren't words to convey how amazing our wedding was.

Hi!! THanks for the congrats! I am not sure that was ours though. The daily event board had a vow renewal in that room until 4 pm..I remember thinking that I hope they get them in and out of there quick before our event at 6!!!

They must have - the room was awesome.

1 week down from the wedding so hopefully pictures are 3 weeks away. Our sneak peak and other small tidbits have been so amazing.

Congrats on your site visit. I want to do it all over again!!!

I have some pictures, but i am new and have no idea how to get them into a reply - I took a picture of the drapes, one of the carpet + drapes (and the standard chair, so i know what they look like, lol), and one of the center of the room where the dance floor is. If someone can tell me how to post them, I will.
