The New Lizard Lounge

If you go over to the GF FAQ site and look through the last 6 or 7 pages for a post by Janet2K. She visited Sugar Loaf recently and put up some nice pictures of what's available. I saw fudge and strawberries & whipped cream on the dessert table. Yummy!

Thank you Tammi! I swear the pregnancy is already sapping my brain cells. I totally forgot that there is a GF thread. :rolleyes1 Oops.

I read through Janet's posts and loved the pictures--delightful! The chocolate box LITERALLY made my mouth drop! Oh, and thank you so much for the drawings of the lounges at Sugar Loaf and RPC. Really helped me get an idea of the layout. One question. . .you made it sound as though there isn't a lot of seating in the SL lounge. Is that correct, or did I misinterpret that? Just concerned that I might have to eat my breakfast while standing. :worried:

Thanks again! Off to devour the info in the GF thread that I've missed for the last several months!

We did find seating to be a bit limited in Sugar Loaf. They have 4 table & chair sets and a few couches and easy chairs.

So after reading through the entire GF thread and also what everyone here has written, I decided to take the plunge and call to get the RPC instead of the Sugar Loaf for our trip.

And of course, RPC is not available for our dates! Waaaaaaaah. I guess I'll live, LOL. Maybe I'll try again in a few weeks. You never know! At least I have SL, which I'm sure won't be disappointing, but you all make RPC sound so wonderful. ;) Besides, DH just spent another $1,000 on a trailer for his "new" tractor, so I felt like I deserved to splurge on something for me. Ugh, men and their toys. . .no offense to the men here, of course! You all know what's important in life--CONCEIRGE!!! ;)

At least I know I can chow down on delicious desserts every night.

Hello everyone!
I'm so excited, we upgraded our sav view to CONCIERGE, for our next trip..Nov30-Dec7th, 2005. AKL is our home away from home, we've just never stayed concierge before. For those of you that have stayed there, could you tell me all about your experiences please..the more the merrier!

Thanks
Gretch :goodvibes

Hi everyone. I just wanted to let you all know that, according to a CM in reservations, there is no longer any difference in the concierge services in the two buildings at GF. The only difference is the location. I'm not sure when this change was implemented.

Secondly, my Father is in the hospital again, this time with a blood infection caused by the chemo. He's been in since thursday night. The doctor seems to think he is going to be just fine. My mother was rushed to the hospital last. Apparently she started to slip into a diabetic coma. The paramedics got her under control and she refused to go to the hospital. Then she went to the bathroom and her urine was all blood soooooo the paramedics came back and took her in. Obviously I'm looking at another trip a little sooner than I had expected.

I just want to thank everyone for posting the good news here as well as the bad. It definitely makes me feel better. I'm sorry I haven't really had anything good -- other than planning trips.

disneyma2, you’re going to love AKL concierge! It’s one of our very favorites. Since you’ve been to the AKL before, you already know what a wonderful resort it is. The concierge lounge is located on the 6th floor, and it overlooks the lobby. This will be extra pretty since you’ll be there when the Christmas tree will be up. The lounge food offerings are delicious and a good variety. Also, they have this incredible coffee/cappuccino/espresso machine that can make all sorts of concoctions. The lounge itself is spacious and has a big screen TV. Also, are you familiar with the special AKL concierge safari opportunities? They offer a Sunrise and a Sunset Safari exclusively for concierge guests. We did the Sunrise Safari on our last stay, and we loved it! We can’t recommend it highly enough. Do you have any questions? I’m happy to go on and on about the AKL concierge. :teeth:

MinnieSummer, I am so sorry to hear about your parents’ health problems. I’m glad to hear that your father’s doctor thinks he’ll recover just fine. I’m also glad that the paramedics took your mom in. and prayers for you.

MinnieSummer: So sorry to hear about your parents' health problems. I'll keep them in my thoughts that they both heal up quickly. :goodvibes

Big room Hello to everyone! I want to thank you all for your kind words, prayers and good wishes. We have a date for my surgery. It is going to be in mid-december. I am hopeing they can move it up as that time of year will be difficult for my girls to come out (which I know they want to do) :) I am going to leave all of that to God, knowing he has everything in his hands to our benfit.

We have cancellled our RPC GF stay. I had made reservations at Shades of Green, but DH, said no - let's stay in a standard room at the Polynesian. We can handle that. :Pinkbounc He also said he wants this trip to be very special, as it will be some time before we will be returning and at least 3 months before I would be able to do any traveling. I sure married a wonderful guy.

So our plans are 6 nights at the Polynesian, than we are going to the AKL CL for 7. It should be a fantastic time.

Anyone have any suggestions on room requests at the Polynesian or ideas at that resort, please let me know.

Sending prayers and pd for all in need.

Angel, I’m saying a prayer for you right now. You’re 100% right that God will work out all the details for you.

It sounds like your Disney trip plans will really be wonderful! The AKL CL is fantastic, and the Poly’s atmosphere is wonderfully relaxing and peaceful—just what you need! Perhaps you could request one of the newly renovated rooms at the Poly (I’m not sure which, if any, buildings they have completed, but a request never hurts).

Angel: You're definitely in my thoughts and prayers. But it sounds like your trip is going to be very special thanks to your very special DH.

Calling all Polynesian Lovers !!

I need suggestions and ideas of ways to make this week at the Polynesian special for my wonderful dear husband (he deserve to have it spelled out) :sunny: We will be there for his birthday. Does the Polynesian have items that can be delivered to the room like the GF did. I was going to order the chocolate cigars at GF and surprise him, but I don't think GF would deliver to the Poly.

Also, I need suggestions for a room request. It would be nice to see the water, maybe a little of the castle. Does anyone have a suggestion? Tikiman's site is down until next month, and a month from today :cloud9: we will be checking in at the Polynesian. I know I can contact the Disney Florist for things to be delivered, but I wanted something really special and themed for my sweetheart.

OK....everyone that knows and and loves the Polynesian, what things should we make sure we don't miss? What is the top items we must do? You are such a great group and have so much knowledge I know I will get many wonderful answers and suggestions. :grouphug:

Elizabeth Thank you for you prayers and best wishes. How are things going for you? Do you have any trips planned before your Christmas plans?

Steph H Thank you for the prayers. How are you feeling and how is the little one? I am sending pd that RPC will open up for your trip.

Minniesummer- I am so sorry that you parents are back in the hospital. I will keep them in my prayers.

Tammi Thank you for all your help and knowledge at GF. We hope someday to fulfill that dream of staying there. Just wans't to be this time.
Also, you son and his partner look wonderful. Gold !!! You must be so proud. You are such a dedicated mom.

I am setting out grilled tigar shrimp and fresh veggies and dips. Enjoy
Oh, don't forget the Mai Tai's, they are on the sideboard. :drinking1 There is fresh guava juice for our expecting moms :)

:wave2:

EAD79,
Thanks for the response....we are all very excited!! Is it safe to let the IPO, handle all of our dining reuests? Even the Cinderella Breakfast? We haven't missed 1 in 3 years...and I'm a little nervous...DD would be disappointed if she didn't eat with her princess friends. I booked the Sunrise Safari..it sounds very interesting and fun. What od we do when we arrive? Do we go to the front desk as usual?

Thanks
Gretch

Gretch,

Just to let you know, I let the IPO handle my ADRs for my October trip, and they got everything I asked for, including Cindy's breakfast. And I didn't have to lift a finger except to send them my preferences! That's the "loving concierge" dance. ;)

Later I wanted to switch my CRT breakfast to a different day (this was a couple of weeks ago) and they advised me against it, simply because with only about 45 days notice, the chances of my getting the breakfast on a different day that week were pretty slim. So I kept it and was grateful they had gotten it for me in the first place!

Just my two cents! Best of luck to you!

Gretch, we usually let the concierge handle all our dining arrangements as well. I’ve had great success with them getting us what we request. Be sure to give them over 90 days notice from your arrival date for the hard to get reservations like Cindy’s breakfast. As far as check-in goes, when we pulled up to the valet area, our bags were unloaded. Then a bellman escorted us up to the 6th floor (the floor with the lounge) and took us to our room. He then gave us a packet with our room keys. If my memory serves me we went to the concierge desk because we wanted our room keys to have charging privileges on them.

Forgot to add. . .

Angel, thanks so much for asking! I'm feeling quite well now that the morning sickness has FINALLY ended! :cheer2: Now I'm working on my trip in earnest and having so much fun. Thanks for the Pixie Dust. I'm thinking about calling weekly until we leave to see if some rooms open up. :teeth:

Hugs back to you, and everyone else here. I'm feeling great, so how about I leave out some desserts even though it's the middle of the day? Chocolate truffles, some brownies, a few cheesecake bites, capuccino and coffee (decaf for me of course). Mmmmmmmmm. :)

Only 36 days 23 hrs. 53 mins. 51 secs.

Can you tell I can't WAIT to go!!?!?! :rotfl:

Steph, I am so glad that you’re feeling better! Morning sickness sounds awful, and I’m glad it’s over for you! Now have a blast planning to your heart’s content!

Thanks STEPH, and EAD79,

I contacted Don from IPO at AKL and he got all of our requests...that was at 102days out from our trip...so I'm sure they will do their best :) I juszt can't believe that hubby and I won't be using 4 different phones at 645am to call for CRT...but hey...I'm definitely not complaining:)!!

Sounds like we are really going to ejoy ourselves. Thanks for all of the help!
Gretch

Gretch, Don at AKL is great! He’s really on top of things. Don’t worry—you’re in good hands!

Good morning fellow Lizards! Can I take a moment to share my little happy thing that happened this morning regarding my trip?

I was talking to my coworker who wants to go to Disney in January, and we were dicussing flight costs. She's really concerned that prices are going to go up quickly (especially after Katrina) and she wants to hurry up and buy her tickets. It made me curious to see how much the price of MY tickets had gone up since I bought them in February, so I went and looked--and they went DOWN by $176 apiece! I was stunned, needless to say. I chalked it up to my bad timing, and grumbled on the way home last night. But this morning, she pointed out to me that I could call and see if they might give me a credit or something. Well, sure enough, I called and they gave me three vouchers for $151 dollars each ($25 charge per ticket, but who cares?)! Now, the funny part is that I have to use these things within a year, and I can't see myself flying anywhere with a new baby next year, but maybe we will, just for fun. It would seem a shame to waste the credit, right?

So now I have first class seats AND $450 worth of travel vouchers! Now if I can just get the RPC to open up, I will be on the ultimate :cloud9: . Think I'll go make another phone call. . . ;)
