I met some Dissers I had never heard of before, Shelly and Skippy.
Ok, I have been enjoying bouncing from one trip report to the next, since
I find one person would "cameo" in another person's report. Next thing I
know, I'm thoroughly addicted to the Six Degrees of DIS Kevin Bacon.
I wanted to let you know that Shelley and "Skippy" are VMK friends of mine,
and well, you don't know me either.
Skippy is really Tishke, aka Kelly.
I didn't know what you were talking about until I saw the photo above!
Tishke (Kelly) is sitting to "our left" next to Shelley in the pink cowboy hat.
I have not met these ladies in person yet, but they have met other VMK
DISers I have already met in person. So I feel I do "know" them. Confusing?
To top it off, two other VMK friends (one I have met in person, one I have
not) have TR's here. I believe one day we're all going to meet.
And not only did I enjoy your TR thoroughly, I had a different visual of
the "horse run" while searching for Dole Whip: I pictured you as Jan and the
rest of the Bradys running through King's Island trying to make sure Mike got
his plans before the "big deal" fell through.
Oh! Renting the pontoon boat brought me back to my Nov 1996 trip!
I went with some other online Disney friends back then, and four of
us went to the DTD Marketplace. On a whim, and because our friend
Jason had Food and Fun coupons to burn, we bought sandwiches from
Mickey's Pantry (R.I.P.) and some chips and sodas and had an impromptu
picnic on the pontoon! We took the opposite route of what you did,
ending up at Dixie Landings...which is now POR. I must say that was the
BEST relaxing time. I'm really glad your TR brought back that memory for
me.
But the part that has me giggling the most is the nighttime bus heebiejeebies
you seem to have. I'm a single gal (er, an '87) who travels alone to WDW
for most of her trips, and I have always taken the bus alone back to my
Disney resort from Pleasure Island. I really never felt unsafe doing so, but
I do keep my eyes open just in case I didn't feel safe.
All these TRs have inspired me to perhaps write another. I have been
pretty lax about writing them, but I'm no stranger to reports. I have mostly
submitted them to newsgroups/Yahoogroups, but I'm strongly thinking about
parking a report here. I guess I'll start in the pre-trip boards...
Thanks again for the fun and laughs!
