The Devil Horns Ride Again! A Rockin’ Jan/Feb TR New PTR Link 10/13!

Babies Galore! Part 2 (Don't miss Part 1 on the previous page)

We ended up being a little further back in the line that I thought we would be and as a consequence ended up in the Warthog section instead of Giraffe where I usually sit. We were also pretty far up in the stands so my pictures aren’t quite as good this time. As usual though, they are very Tumble Monkey heavy.

It was now time for some meet and greets. First up, Flik. I had tried to find him in November but Thumper was out instead. Flik was there this day with a fairly short line so we hopped in. He was a lot of fun. He seriously tried to steal my Lion King bag.

Jim had never met Safari Donald so that was our next destination.

Donald was right next door to Dinosaur and I noticed it was open now. It had a pretty long line but I really wanted to ride so we got in line.

So glad to see you back! :cool1:

Mickey pretzels are such a great snack!

Love your pictures throughout the trail, especially of the adorable baby gorilla!

Glad you got to see FOTLK!

Cute character pics :)

Glad to see things have settled down at work and you're back on the dis.

I love Festival of the lion king its my favorite show in all of WDW. You got some great photos of it.

I have never met Flik. I love meeting Donald though.

Yay, you're back :)

I haven't ever gotten one of those Lion King Magic Shots! Add it to my list for December....the list is getting lengthy if I'm being honest here.

Rock on! Donald and Devil Horns, what could be better?!

I'm glad that you didn't have time to Dis as it didn't take me long to get caught up again. Love the Festival of the Lion King pictures and your meet with Flik. I love him!

As usual though, they are very Tumble Monkey heavy.

That's because they're the best part! Well, along with the fire dancer.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of AK while we're there. I love your meeting with Flik.

Thanks! I'm definitely glad things have slowed down at work.

I could use one of those Mickey pretzels right now.

I wish I could have gotten some better pictures of the baby. They were just at the wrong angle and it's also hard with the glass there.

Me too, I hate it when I can't get on here to read. I'm still trying to catch up on everyone else's threads.

It's my favorite too. The pictures were OK this time but I've gotten much better.

I was excited when they added Flik as a regular meet and greet. It's always fun to get new characters.

Yep I'm back!

I've gotten that one a few times. Once by the Lion King theater and once by the Christmas Tree outside the park.

I'm glad that you didn't have time to Dis as it didn't take me long to get caught up again. Love the Festival of the Lion King pictures and your meet with Flik. I love him!

That's true, I love those Tumble Monkeys! I could watch them all day.

I can't wait to go back again and experience all the new night stuff at AK.

I Fulfill One of My Wildest Disney Dreams

We got in line for Dinosaur next. The line was so long that we had to weave through some lines outside of the building. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed this Dinosaur before.

It wasn’t long though before we were inside the building. I think we may have waited 20-30 minutes total but I didn’t time it.

We were joined in our time rover by a group of six adults and a family of four with two small kids who were in the back row. We got as far as the part where Dr. Seeker says “locking coordinates now” and the ride starts going faster and we came to a dead stop. We sat for a few minutes and then the emergency lights came on. So I was a bad girl and pulled out the camera and took a shot of our view.

We sat there for about 10 minutes and I could hear the kids behind me getting a little freaked out. They were already scared and being stopped wasn’t helping. As for Jim and me and the group of 6 adults, we were having a blast looking around, checking out everything with the lights on.

We finally started up again but only made it a bit further before we stopped again. I took one more quick photo before an announcement came on that stated to stay in our seats and to not take pictures. As you can see I wasn’t the only one snapping pictures.

And then one of my wildest Disney dreams came true. A CM came by and told us to hang on, they would be coming around to evacuate us from the ride. I’ve always wanted to be evacuated from a Disney ride!

A group of CMs came by eventually with a step ladder. They released us from our seatbelts one row at a time and then helped us down the step ladder. We were told to line up single file as close to the right side of the track as possible. Then the CM lead us on foot to the next car where they repeated the process. Further along we came upon an empty car. I don’t know whether it was already emptied or never had people in it at all. My wonderful husband decided to have some fun though and said pretty loudly, “Looks like those guys didn’t make it”. Jim claims he had no idea that the kids behind us were scared, maybe I was more attuned to them because I’m a woman, but the little boy turned to his dad and asked “Are we going to get eaten Daddy?” I gave Jim a smack on the arm and told him to cool it, that he was scaring the kids.

I had a blast the whole time, checking out every inch of the ride with the lights on. There were several Dinosaurs that I’ve never noticed before so I will be on the lookout for them next time I ride I will admit though, when we passed by the big Carnotaurus, I kept a close eye on him! He was just as scary looking with the lights on as he is during the ride.

We eventually made it back to the loading dock and the exit. It was very interesting to see all of the back stage stuff and I didn’t mind at all that we never got to finish the ride.

We were given two paper FPs for our trouble.

And the funny thing is, we still had a ride photo in our account when I looked later that day. Looks like we didn’t make it after all!

Between the longer wait time and the amount of time we spent on the actual ride, it was now time for our Mickey & Minnie FP. I had us scheduled to eat lunch before the FP but we changed that up and went to the meet and great first. The park was starting to get a little crowded now so I’m glad we had the FP. M & M were cute, I don’t remember anything special that happened during the meet.

Next up was lunch. I gave Jim the choice between Flame Tree BBQ and Pizzafari. He said he was more in the mood for pizza so Pizzafari it was.

It had been quite a few years since I had eaten at Pizzafari, 2012 was actually the last time I ate there. I remember loving the pizza, here’s the picture from that trip.

And here’s the version we got this year.

The pizza now is much thinner and my cheese version barely had any sauce on it. I didn’t care for it at all. Jim said his pizza was fine but the pasta salad was gross. The chocolate mousse, although different than the past, was thankfully just as yummy as always. It was the only saving grace to the meal and I don’t plan on eating there again anytime soon.

While we were eating, we discussed our plans for the paper FP. We didn’t want to risk Dinosaur again even if it opened back up so Jim suggested a third trip on EE. Of course we had just finished eating and going straight to EE was not something we wanted to do. So instead we went in and out of a few of the stores on Discovery Island and then headed over to Asia to meet a few more characters, King Louis and Baloo!

There was a small line but it gave me the chance to take a few pictures of the tree.

It wasn’t long before it was time to meet the duo.

This last picture cracks me up because it looks like there is an extra arm. Since Jim was wearing a bright green long sleeved shirt under his t-shirt, it looks like his arm doesn’t belong to him.

Jim still wasn’t quite ready for EE so we walked the Maharajah Jungle Trek while we continued to digest our food.

The bats were just heading out into the pen for the day since it was so cold. We watched this one walk along the rope as it headed to a perch.

And then it was time for tigers. I really love big cats.

And some more birds.

We continued towards EE but noticed that the Gibbons were pretty active so we stopped to watch.

We finally used our paper FP for EE. I can’t believe Jim rode this three times in one day! I think he might have liked AK a little better this trip.

We had done everything we wanted to so it was time to head out of AK and back to the room for a break. As we headed around to the exit though, we got distracted by another PP photographer. This guy was great, he spent a lot of time posing us and making sure the pictures were good.

We then got one of my favorite Magic Shots from the trip.

And also a PP video.

We made it back to our room about 3 pm and crashed for a bit before our evening activities.

I traded for two pins at AK that day.

I have never been evacuated from a ride and I think that would be cool to happen once especially on a ride that's in the dark like dinosaur. I wouldn't be able to resist taking photos either.

Jim scaring the kids is both mean and hilarious at the same time. I love that empty ride photo.

I honestly have never eaten at pizzafari, that sucks the pizza wasn't as good.

Great photos with Baloo and King Louie! That photo with Jims arm hidden like that makes it seem like King Louie has a third arm!

It's been so long since I've done the jungle trek. Maybe next year I'll do it again.

EE is one I could ride again and again.

Great PP photos! I love the one with the balloons especially!

Most people would be annoyed to be evacuated off a ride- I'm glad you made the best of it and were enjoying it! And at least you got a FP out of it!

Cute pics with Mickey & Minnie. I do love that greet spot!

Sorry to hear lunch wasn't great.

I love the view of the tree from King Louie and Baloo's line! And you got some cute pics with them.

Glad you were able to get another ride on EE with your paper FP!

I might be a little evil but this made me giggle.

And the funny thing is, we still had a ride photo in our account when I looked later that day. Looks like we didn’t make it after all!

That is hilarious!! I hope those parents didn't show that to the kids!!

Those pictures are epic!

Only Disney Junkies would understand the yearn to be evacuated from an attraction!! :) I cracked up when I read that, but it's SO true!!! I am SO jealous you got to be evacuated!!! Also, I am selfishly glad you were a rebel and took some pictures with the lights on. It's just awesome to see how they really make the magic happen!!

(Ooh, a little aside here--yesterday, Rob and I went to see Marty Sklar and two other Imagineers speak at the Museum of Science and Industry. We split up before the talk was over so he could get a good spot in line for the book signing afterward. I channeled my inner-Arianna at the end since I was solo--I zipped past the crowds and easily found him at the front of the line. It was pretty awesome :) )

What a bummer about Pizzafari!! I have loved it in the past but the last time we ate there was in 2013. When Mom and I wanted to go in November, it was closed. Apparently they have downgraded on quality here. Rats.

Love the EE picture :) You guys so totally rock!

I would have loved to be evacuated from Dinosaur, too. It is fun to see the secret stuff. ;)

Trying to take a moment to get caught up this morning...

I adore the baby gorilla - soooo cute!!! I wish we could have seen him/her while we were there - we always seem to miss it.

I would love to be evacuated from a ride... Um - but not EE - I think I would FREAK OUT! I love that ride - but ONE time I made the mistake of looking down when we were going backwards - and you can kind of see the structure and how far up you really are... Um - that was NOT a good thing... So, I don't think I could handle walking down that... However - Splash - Yes please! ::yes::

I just love FOLK... And all things AK really... There is nothing in that park that I don't love immensely. Sad to say - it *almost* outshines MK for me.

Thanks for the great updates! Sorry I am so far behind everywhere! :lovestruc

Well I really don't think he knew they were scared and he did feel a little bad afterwards.

The pizza was awful this time, almost like it was a frozen TV dinner or something.

I can't stop looking at the photo with the "extra arm". It's just so weird looking!

I try to get down that trail to see the tigers every trip but then I'm a huge animal lover and can spend hours watching them.

The balloon photo is one of my favorites from the trip.

Oh I'm sure most people would be annoyed but I thought it was a blast. Most of the group with us were pretty understanding about the whole thing.

I love that meet spot with M & M too since it's now the only place you can meet them together.

I might be a little evil but this made me giggle.

That is hilarious!! I hope those parents didn't show that to the kids!!

Oh I laughed a little even as I was yelling at Jim. I know he wasn't trying to be evil, he just was oblivious to the fact that they were scared.

We did get some great pictures on this trip.

I had so much fun checking everything out during the evacuation. I wouldn't mind having it happen again on a different ride.

Ha! You're getting the solo stuff down! I saw your posts on Facebook about the event and was wishing I could have been there.

Pizzafari has definitely gone down hill. I would compare the pizza now to a frozen TV dinner.

I would have loved to be evacuated from Dinosaur, too. It is fun to see the secret stuff. ;)

It was so fun to walk through there with the lights on. I would love to have it happen again on different rides.

I've been lucky with the baby gorillas, I've seen them three different times now.

Yeah, EE would be a little freaky to get evacted from. Any of the high ones would, think about Space Mountain! But I would enjoy some of the other rides.

AK is probably my 2nd favorite park after MK especially now that HS is so gutted.

No worries about being behind, I still haven't caught up everywhere myself.

Shopping and Dinner at Disney Springs

We rested for a bit once we got back to our room. Jim pulled out his computer and answered some e-mails while I worked on my journal. We headed back out to catch a bus around 4:15 pm and were pulling into Disney Springs at 4:40 pm.

Jim spotted the Christmas display with Pluto in it and offered to take my picture.

We walked through both the Christmas Store and the Kitchen Store but didn’t linger. Jim is not much of a shopper so we move pretty quickly when he is with me.

Once Upon a Toy was next. I collect Tsum Tsums as does my Cousin and her kids. So I took some pictures of the available stock to send to her.

I already had most of those and so did my Cousin. I was looking for the Haunted Mansion ones that were supposed to come out in 2016. I was a bit too early though, they didn’t come out until April (and of course I bought them).

Jim found something to buy in the Star Wars area. He saw this shirt on a previous trip but they didn’t have his size then. He was excited to finally find it on this trip.

We walked through Trend-D, The Marketplace Co-Op, Arribas Brothers and the pin store but didn’t buy anything (I think I typed almost that exact sentence in my other TR last week).

We headed into World of Disney next. Shockingly I didn’t buy much at all. I think I was feeling a bit rushed by Jim. He tends to walk right on my heels when we are shopping. I think he is trying not so subtly to hurry me along.

I did find a set of pens for work. I’m the only Disney fan in my department so using these means everyone knows they are mine and no one wants to steal them.

I also decided to pick up two more of the Mickey foot dog toys for my Mom’s and brother’s dogs.

Next up it was Jim’s turn to shop so we headed to the Lego Store.

He actually walked out of there empty handed. He had gotten an obscene amount of sets for Christmas and his Birthday and didn’t see any others he wanted.

We headed into the store that used to be D Street with all the Vinylmation. It’s now all Star Wars and has a new name but I can’t remember it right now. Once again, Jim left empty handed but I didn’t. I had been eyeing this Rey and BB-8 shirt at a few other stores and decided I had to have it.

I haven’t worn it yet but will probably do so for the Rogue One movie or maybe this fall at WDW (um, did you notice I have tickers?).

There was also a soccer store in that area that Jim wanted to visit. I must have been bored because I took a picture of the store.

We were done shopping at that point so we turned around and headed back towards our dinner ADR, Raglan Road. We were pretty early so we sat on a wall and listened to the music at the Hole in the Wall bar for a while. Right at 15 minutes before our ADR time, I when up to check in. I ended up in the wrong line at first, there was one for people waiting for a seat at Hole in the Wall. But eventually I found were I was supposed to be and got us checked in. Our ADR time was 6:45 and our pager went off at 6:50 so not too bad.

We were seated in the main dining room but off to the side in a little alcove. Our view of the stage was pretty limited. We couldn’t see the band at all but could just see the dancers from the side.

I got distracted by the pretty ceiling.

Here’s a view looking straight out.

We also had a very good view of the middle stage.

Jim decided to get an appetizer. There was an item called an Irish Egg that sounded very similar to the Scotch Egg we had the night before. I was a little leery so I didn’t get one. But when it came, it was pretty much the same.

We got some brown bread that I didn’t care for but Jim said it was good.

Jim ordered the Shepard’s Pie.

And I got Mammy’s Roast Chicken.

Both dishes were very good and we ate every bite.

For dessert, Jim got Ger’s Bread & Butter Pudding. He was so full that he only ate a few bites before having our waiter box it up.

I got Chocolate Heaven, a gluten & dairy free flourless chocolate cake. It came with fresh berries and whipped cream which I had them leave off.

I really enjoyed it and ate every bite. Overall we really liked the meal. I think my only complaint was how loud it was with the dancers and band. We were shouting back and forth with our waiter most of the night. Of course that’s just part of the atmosphere of the restaurant so it’s not even really a complaint.

We headed back to the bus stop after that as we were pretty tired from our early morning. When we got to the bus stop, we spotted a large pin board so we stopped to trade. As we were finishing up, a Caribbean Beach bus pulled up so we hopped right on.

I traded for two pins at Disney Springs. I’m pretty sure both of them came off of the pin board by the bus.

And here are my Fitbit stats for the day. I’ve finally hit 10,000 two more times since Disney but it’s sure hard to do with a desk job!

Oh and Jim did buy a Ratatouille magnet while at Epcot. For some reason I had it mixed in with the Downtown Disney purchases.

Up Next: It’s Not Star Wars Weekends But it Will Have to Do.

I am surprised at how little you purchased! But I do like what you did end up purchasing. And sounds like a great dinner!

TICKERS! How exciting that you and your mom are taking another trip together! And I see you've finalized your Disneyland dates! 2 very exciting trips ahead for you :goodvibes

My sister is a big tsum tsum collector. I only have two. A Lotso one and an R2D2 one. I do want to get some more of the Star Wars ones though.

I like that Class of 77 Star Wars shirt. I missed that on my trip.

I don't think I have ever walked out of Disney springs empty handed. I'm surprised Jim didn't find anything at the Lego store.

We visited the Star Wars store but there wasn't anything that stuck out to me there.

I've never done raglan road but have heard good things about it. I'm glad you had a good time there.

Good job on the steps. I got 100,000 for the week last week. That's because of my walking around school all day and I went for a run on Wednesday.

I like that magnet too.

Woohoo for upcoming trips! I really need to make it to Disneyland.
