The Devil Horns Ride Again! A Rockin’ Jan/Feb TR New PTR Link 10/13!

Hahaha....I love the empty Dinosaur ride pic .... I guess we didn't make it after all..... Bahahaha !

I am surprised at how little you purchased! But I do like what you did end up purchasing. And sounds like a great dinner!

TICKERS! How exciting that you and your mom are taking another trip together! And I see you've finalized your Disneyland dates! 2 very exciting trips ahead for you :goodvibes

I guess there just wasn't a lot of new stuff since I had been there in December.

Well, I hope the Disneyland dates are final! Nothing is booked yet. I'm heading home on Thursday for a quick weekend so I'm hoping to talk with my brother & SIL then.

My sister is a big tsum tsum collector. I only have two. A Lotso one and an R2D2 one. I do want to get some more of the Star Wars ones though.

I like that Class of 77 Star Wars shirt. I missed that on my trip.

I don't think I have ever walked out of Disney springs empty handed. I'm surprised Jim didn't find anything at the Lego store.

We visited the Star Wars store but there wasn't anything that stuck out to me there.

I've never done raglan road but have heard good things about it. I'm glad you had a good time there.

Good job on the steps. I got 100,000 for the week last week. That's because of my walking around school all day and I went for a run on Wednesday.

I like that magnet too.

Woohoo for upcoming trips! I really need to make it to Disneyland.

I have a few of the Star Wars ones. I bought all of the first set but only Darth Maul from the second set. I've seen some from the Force Awakens online but they haven't been released yet.

I was surprised he didn't buy anything at the Lego store too. But he did get a lot of sets for Christmas and his birthday. He still has about 10 sets he hasn't put together.

I've had one good meal and one pretty bad meal at Raglan Road now. When Mom and I went in 2012 our meal was not very good. But it was definitely better this trip.

Ha! I think I got about 15,000 total steps for last week. I really should get up an walk around some more at work but I'm usually glued to my computer.

Woo hoo 2 tickers!!! Very cool .... I'm green with envy! :thumbsup2 But excited because that means more TRs!

I am really excited for both trips and will definitely do TRs for them.

YAY HOORAY FOR YOUR TICKERS!!!!!!!! :stitch::simba::hmghost::figment::ccat::maleficen

I know! I'm so excited. Did dining reservations for the WDW trip this past weekend. Everything went well there except for the Candlelight Processional package since those aren't out yet. I will be stalking for those!

Hahaha....I love the empty Dinosaur ride pic .... I guess we didn't make it after all..... Bahahaha !

I know, how funny was that! Made my day when I saw it in my account.

I didn't notice that! How exciting!!!

I can't wait!

It’s Not Star Wars Weekends But it Will Have to Do Part 1

We were up at 5:30 am and out the door by 7:00 am on Sunday, January 31st, 2016. When we had first planned this trip, it was going to be in May for Star Wars Weekends. When Disney cancelled SWW, we were super disappointed but decided to go in January (cooler weather and better for our work schedules) instead and make the best of the trip. Today we were headed to HS for morning EMH at 8 am. Our plan was to do everything Star Wars that HS was currently offering.

While we were waiting to get in, I asked Jim if he wanted to head to Toy Story Mania first (despite having a FP+ for later) and then to the new Star Wars Launch Bay. I explained that it would probably make our wait for the Star Wars characters a bit longer. Our love for TSM won out so as soon as they let us into the park we headed that direction. Jim was excited.

We are very competitive with each other but I managed to squeak out a win. I wasn’t happy with my score, I can usually do much better when by myself and not sharing targets with anyone.

But at least I still managed to get Best in Vehicle.

The line was pretty long when we exited plus we had other priorities so we decided not to ride again. Before we made it out of that area though, Jim did get a bit distracted by the Green Army Men.

I realized when looking at that picture that I don’t have a picture with them. I’ll have to remedy that in December.

We made it to Star Wars Launch Bay.

When you reach the entrance you can choose between seeing a movie (in the old theater were Mushu’s show used to be) or heading straight into the building. I was going to have us skip the movie and come back later but one was starting at that moment and Jim wanted to see it.

It was an interesting movie about the making of The Force Awakens. I enjoyed the behind the scenes info but probably don’t need to see it again.

Once the movie was over, we skipped over some displays and headed straight to Chewbacca’s meet which was listed at 20 minutes (this was still during EMHs). The wait was probably more around 15 minutes and we had fun playing the Star Wars trivia that was on TVs in the lines. There were also Light Side helmets and Lightsabers to check out. Jim had me take a picture of Sabine’s helmet since she is one of his favorite characters. In case you didn’t know, she is a character on the Star Wars Rebels cartoon.

Here’s the line right after we got in it. You can see everyone looking up at the TV screens.

Some of the Lightsabers.

And then it was time to meet the big hairy guy. He wasn’t talking on this day which was kind of disappointing but he gave us hugs and also admired my shirt. He wasn’t too fond of Jim’s since it just had Dark Side characters.

We headed into Darth Vader’s line next which was also posted at 20 minutes and that’s about what we waited. There were Stormtrooper helmets and Dark Side Lightsabers in this line.

I will say that Darth was very, very intimidating. He was right in my face at one point demanding that I join the Dark Side. I’m pretty sure I just nodded and agreed with everything he said!

Once we finished up with the meet and greets, it was time to explore the rest of Launch Bay. I was excited to see Rey’s speeder since she is one of my new heroes.

We backtracked a little bit to check out the displays we had skipped at the very beginning. In the area where there used to be Animator’s offices, they had several Star Wars vehicles. First up, a Speeder Bike from Return of the Jedi.

Next was Anakin Skywalker’s Podracer from the Phantom Menace.

It’s Not Star Wars Weekends But it Will Have to Do Part 2

In the room where you used to exit the Mushu show and there was a display of the current movie project, they had a display of different types of battle vehicles from the Star Wars movies.

Jim had to have his picture taken with the Slave I model since he is a huge Boba Fett fan.

There was a display of Light Side Vehicles (I’m not even going to try to name them all).

And also Dark Side ones.

We headed back down towards the meet and greets and this was on the carpet.

We headed into Mos Eisley Cantina but it was pretty empty and there were no Jawas out at the moment.

There was another room with game stations for Disney Infinity.

Jim played for a bit but I just stood back and watched. I’m horrible at games that have more than one button.

I found the entrance to the Disney Visa meet and greet for Darth Vader. It didn’t open till 11 am but Jim wanted to meet him again so we decided to come back after lunch.

We entered another room that had some awesome art and other displays from The Force Awakens.

If I had a spot for this next picture I would probably get it.

Then we entered the store where Jim wanted to spend a ton of money.

I think this Han Solo costume was a little under $1,000.

There was a lot of cool merchandise in the store.

One of the CMs let Jim borrow his light saber to take this next picture.

Jim then noticed the station where you could create a phone case. He looked through and found a Boba Fett one and decided to get it. It was going to take a few hours for the case to be printed so we headed out. We were planning on coming back for the Visa greet any ways.

Good idea going to TSMM first- glad you beat Jim!

I'm glad you got to explore Launch Bay and meet the characters with not too long of a wait. Darth Vader is SO intimidating!

I skipped the movie in January. Maybe ill watch it next time if I have more time.

I actually enjoyed how they put props and stuff in the queue lines for the characters that made the wait better. We only met Chewie in January. I wish we would've done Vader.

No roaming Jawas? Those guys were awesome when we were there.

I loved looking at all of the props throughout launch bay!

Those costumes are really expensive. I wonder how many they've sold?

Not SWW but looks like you got a good chunk of Star Wars experiences anyway :) Love the picture with Chewie--especially his Wookie toes :) I've seen people meeting Kylo Ren...is that instead of Darth Vader or is it just hit or miss who you get to meet?

Love the pic of Jim in the cantina, and you cracked me up about not being able to play games with more than one button. Is Atari better for you? I LOVE and still play my Dad's from when I was little. Pitfall is my favorite, though truth be told, I am terrible at that too.

I was happy to beat him just because it makes him mad!

It was a good idea to head to Launch Bay during EMHs although from what I've read the wait times have never been bad.

The movie was interesting if you are a Star Wars fans but definitely not a must do.

Yes, I was glad they had stuff to check out in the queues. Too bad you missed Vader since he was replaced by Kylo Ren.

Oh, we found the Jawas later. I think that's in the next post or maybe the one after.

There were quite a few Star Wars things to do this time around. Kylo Ren replaced Darth Vader a few weeks after we where there. As of right now, Kylo Ren is the only one you can meet in both the regular and Visa meet and greet areas.

I still have an Atari, Original Nintendo, Super Nintendo and Sega. Anything beyond those is way too complex for me. Well I take that back, we do have a Wii but that doesn't have a lot of buttons either.

Hanging With My Favorite Dog

We decided to head to the Great Movie Ride next before the line got too long. This was actually the second time I rode the updated version but I haven’t gotten that far in my other TR. So I will hold off on my thoughts on the changes till I get there in the other TR.

They had changed out some of the displays in the line. There were some uniforms from the Star Trek movie.

There were also some electronic screens added in the line that rotated through different movie posters.

The wait time said 15 minutes but we basically walked straight through the line and ended up in the second row.

And that was all of the photos I took for some reason. Sometimes I get caught up in the ride and forget to take more.

It was almost 10:30 at this point and I had a very early lunch ADR scheduled at Prime Time at 11:05 am. There was a reason for the early lunch but we will get to that later. I saw that Daisy was out meeting so we headed that way and got in line. Jim kept saying he didn’t want to meet Daisy because we already did the previous day at Epcot. But I told him to just hang on for a minute and he would soon understand why I was in line. You see, at that time (it could still be the same but I don’t know for sure), the characters switched out every half hour and I knew that Pluto would be coming out at 10:30.

Jim figured it out soon enough and it wasn’t long before we were hanging out with my favorite dog. I got an awesome hug to start.

And then Pluto noticed my bag and went nuts. Now I don’t know if anything could top the meet from December where we posed as dogs but this one came close. Pluto took my bag and proceeded to wear it around his snout!

After he had his fun with my bag, he gave it back and we took a few posed pictures.

Even after meeting Pluto we were still a little early for lunch so we spotted another PP photographer in a place I hadn’t seen before.

Finally it was time for lunch. We had barely sat down in the lounge before our name was called. Jim did have me take a picture of this old radio since it was a GE and that’s who he works for. I really could have done a better job with the photo though.

We were seated at a small two seater table right across from one of the TV tables.

Nothing, and I mean nothing will ever top our experience from 2013 (here’s a link if you would like to read about that experience: 50s Prime Time 2013) but we were still excited to eat at one of our favorite restaurants.

Our waiter was a little more subdued this time although he did yell at Jim for being on his “walky-talky” (cell phone) at dinner. We both ordered the same exact dish as 2013. Jim got the meat loaf.

And I got the pot roast.

Our waiter saw me taking pictures of the food and offered to take a few of us.

Now I don’t like celery, not necessary the taste, but more the texture of it on my teeth. Jim will usually eat anything I don’t but he refused this time because he wanted me to get in trouble. I was so sure I would get yelled at for the little pile of celery I left on my plate but our waiter didn’t say a word. Jim was quite disappointed.

Jim got the same dessert as 2013, the Warm Apple Crisp.

But I decided to try something different and went with Mom’s Favorite Chocolate Peanut Butter Layers Cake.

Holy cow guys, this thing was huge and so good! I made a good go of it but unfortunately left more that I wanted to on the plate. This would definitely work if you wanted to split a dessert with someone. Once again, our waiter didn’t yell at me for not finishing. As a matter of fact, he said that it was rare for someone to actually finish it. I wish I could have taken the rest to go but with a full afternoon/evening ahead of us it wasn’t possible.

Great pics with Pluto- glad it was a great interaction!

Love the PP pics, never gotten any taken in that spot.

Nice pic of the two of you at lunch! Glad you enjoyed your meals; your dessert looks so good!

Mmmmmm, now I"m hungry!! Love Primetime pot roast and meatloaf. The atmosphere there just can't be beat. It's a definite on our list every trip!

Photopass pics with Gertie?! You certainly got your money's worth on this trip!!

And I think D~ should use that pic of Pluto in her advertising!! :)

I haven't done great movie ride since the changes. I'm still not sure how I feel about them.

Awesome timing! And awesome meet with Pluto! I love how he was wearing your bag.

I love 50s! Your meals look good especially those desserts! Now I'm hungry.

I’ve always wanted to be evacuated from a Disney ride!

I have to agree! just nothing BIG.

“Are we going to get eaten Daddy?” I gave Jim a smack on the arm and told him to cool it, that he was scaring the kids.

I am dying over here!!! :rotfl2:

Looks like we didn’t make it after all!

BAAAAAA HA HA HA HA.. is this dinosaur or HM?!?!

We then got one of my favorite Magic Shots from the trip.

This is awesome!

I got distracted by the pretty ceiling.

Distracted! Nope you have the eye for photography!

We are very competitive with each other but I managed to squeak out a win. I wasn’t happy with my score, I can usually do much better when by myself and not sharing targets with anyone.

Do i even need to comment on this?

There was a display of Light Side Vehicles (I’m not even going to try to name them all).

And i was so impressed you knew the names of everything!!!
then fail.. you have failed.

Telling Yoda on you.. :yoda:

Pluto was great this time!

That was the first time I had seen a PP photographer in that spot. They seemed to have them in a few different locations on this trip.

That dessert was amazing!

I do love Prime Time but my Mom won't eat there. She's even more introverted than me and the thought of being yelled at makes her cringe.

We did find some pretty neat, new spots for PP pics.

I posted it to her Facebook page so it's out there!

I liked some of the changes but wasn't thrilled with everything.

It was a very fun meet with Pluto!

I'm always hungry when I read TRs! I want a piece of that cake right now.

I have to agree! just nothing BIG.

Yeah, Space Mountain or EE would be pretty scary!

I am dying over here!!! :rotfl2:

It was kind of funny looking back but I did feel bad for those poor kids.

BAAAAAA HA HA HA HA.. is this dinosaur or HM?!?!

Could be either!

This is awesome!

I was pretty happy with some of the more unique PP pictures we got this trip.

Distracted! Nope you have the eye for photography!

I'm getting there. Plus you always look up at Disney, right?

Do i even need to comment on this?

Nope. :rotfl:

Shhh, but I had to look up the first few and then I got lazy and didn't want to do that any more. Besides most of them had labels you could read anyways.

Some More Star Wars and a Little Frozen Part 1

After lunch we headed back to Launch Bay for the second meet with Darth and to pick up Jim’s phone case. We also wanted to see if any of the Jawas were out and trading. Before the trip I had gone to the dollar store and picked up a few items that we could trade.

And then I was an idiot and left them in the suitcase that morning!

Before we made it into Launch Bay, we ran into some patrolling Storm Troopers. They took their job seriously and wouldn’t pose for pictures but instead wandered around the courtyard harassing guests.

We did find some Jawas out and waited our turn to trade. Since I forgot the trinkets I had bought, Jim just traded a Disney pin. I’m sure they get hundreds of those each day.

He got a droid part in return.

Then we headed to the Chase Visa Darth Vader meet and greet. I thought it would be pretty quick but there were about 10 families in front of us. And yes, he still scared me a bit this time around!

Jim picked up his phone case and then we hustled over to the Frozen theater. We were a bit behind schedule but we did just make it in time for the next show. Even though we got there after most people had been let in, we ended up with pretty good seats, just a little off center.

While we waited for the show to begin, Jim showed off his new phone case. The lettering at the bottom is his name in Aurebesh.

And then the Frozen show started. I’ve seen it four times now and still love it. It’s fresh and funny and there is a bit of improve so you don’t know exactly what you are going to get each time. Jim really enjoyed it also but then he is a huge fan of the movie. Once again I only took a few pictures.

Next up on the afternoon schedule was Jedi Training Academy. The show had been updated since the last time we saw it so we wanted to watch.

There are two different stages now, an upper one and a lower one so they can have twice as many kids participate.

They taught the kids a simple series of lightsaber moves and then they opened the temple to see who would come out. First up was Darth Vader.

And then the Seventh Sister, one of the Inquisitors from the cartoon Rebels.

At this point a few of the kids ended up running off the stage in fright.

The kids on the upper stage each fought Darth Vader while the ones on the lower stage got the Seventh Sister.

Some More Star Wars and a Little Frozen Part 2

And then towards the end, the worst nightmare of the younger Jedi host comes out of the temple in the form of Darth Maul.

After they fought a bit, the show was over. Overall I thought it was a cute show although maybe a little scary for some of the kids. Jim loved it and was jealous that he couldn’t participate.

After that, we headed to the second Star Wars movie, the Path of the Jedi. This was located in the old Sounds Dangerous theater next to the Frozen theater. This was basically a 10 minute retelling of the entire Star Wars saga. Nothing that Jim and I didn’t already know but I guess it was a good summary for someone who hadn’t seen the films.

It was finally time to use our first FP+ for the day which was for Toy Story Mania from 1:30 – 2:30 pm. I’m pretty sure we used it towards the end of the hour. First of course, we got sidetracked by another PP photographer.

It looks like it was a good thing we had a FP+. I know they just opened the third track, has anyone been tracking wait times now?

And once again I just squeaked out a win and was best in vehicle. And I was a lot happier with this score than the first one that morning.

We headed back to Wattos Grotto next which was the big Star Wars store at the end of the old Backlot Tour. Of course it’s gone now with the closure of that whole area. We walked around a bit but didn’t buy anything. On the way out we ran across yet another new PP opportunity.

Our next FP+ was from 2:55 – 3:55 and we wanted to use it towards the end. Since we were in the back area we headed in to see the Muppets. I think we walked straight into the theater because I took zero pictures of the pre-show. Then we trekked back towards the front of the park and down Sunset Blvd to one of Jim’s favorites.

Jim managed to get the Devil Horns up during the ride video.

We made our way back up Sunset Blvd towards our final FP+ for the day for Star Tours. We walked through the stores on the way there but still didn’t buy anything. Then we stopped at ABC Commissary so I could get some ice water. I found a seat on the wall outside of the Star Tours dump shop while Jim headed to the fast pass line. Unfortunately Star Tours really triggers my motion sickness and I can’t ride it even after taking pills. I didn’t mind really, it was nice to sit for a few minutes and relax with my water.

Jim actually rode it twice using my Magic Band for the second ride. By this time it was a little after 4:30 pm and I really wanted to get dinner before it got any later. You see, we were doing the Star Wars dessert party at 7 pm. Last time I had just sweets for dinner I got pretty sick so I needed to get something solid in my stomach before the sweets. In keeping with the Star Wars theme of the day, we headed to Backlot Express because there was several Star Wars themed dishes on the menu.

I went with the Dark Side Chicken and Waffles which was basically Disney waffles and chicken tenders.

Jim went with a boring old Cheeseburger rather than any of the Star Wars selections.

Our food was basic but good. I was in heaven with two of my favorite Disney foods.

We got Chocolate Peanut Butter Darth Vader Cupcakes for dessert. I was hoping for something more portable since we wouldn’t be eating these in order to save room for the party but there wasn’t anything else. They did give us some plastic containers but the poor cupcakes were pretty mashed by the time we got them back to our room. We never did eat them.

When we finished with dinner, Jim said he really wanted to go back to Launch Bay to look around the store once more. I had a feeling I knew what was coming and I was right. He just had to have one of the fancy Lightsabers. The thing was too big to fit in our suitcases so we had it shipped home. We used my Disney Visa and the discount pretty much covered the shipping. I’m almost afraid to tell you guys the thing cost $160 and so far it’s sat in the box. Oh well, I spend money on silly things too. So here he is the day it arrived, think he was happy at all?

And here it is all lit up. I just realized that little Remy is in the background of this picture.

I will admit it is pretty cool, it hums and makes the swishing noises when you swing it. I’m just afraid of the thing because one hit on something hard and I think it would break.

We did some more shopping and then checked in for the Dessert Party at 6 pm. It didn’t start until 7 pm so we headed down Hollywood Blvd in search of stamps and a mail box. I had a post card that I wanted to mail. It took a few stores but we finally found stamps in the first big store on the left when facing the Chinese Theater. And then we located the mailbox back near First Aid. We turned around and headed back up the street and got in line for the Dessert Party around 6:30 pm.

That's awesome that you actually traded with the Jawas. We really didn't have anything to trade him with so we didn't.

It's funny that you threw frozen in the middle of all of the Star Wars stuff. I still haven't seen the sing a long. Maybe next time. I do like Jims phone case though. I have a custom one for my half marathon.

I've never actually watched the Jedi training academy.

TSMM actually has seen a decrease in wait times since the third track opened. It's been averaging around 55-60 minutes instead of much higher than that.

Tower of terror is always fun!

I know it's not quite the same but I spent $150 on the sphero BB-8 droid and I played with him for maybe 2-3 weeks and now he just sits there. However it is cool to watch the Star Wars movies with him because he does react to different things during the movie.

Wowza! there is a LOT of star wars stuff going on isn't there?!?!

OMG those poor screaming children! :rotfl2:What is the age on that now?

You had some great stuff to trade! too bad you left it all behind.. which again i am --> :rotfl2:

Loved the devil horns on ToT! and you looking at him and laughing!!! LOVE IT!

Honestly i think i am a little upset with you not being able to save PEANUT BUTTER AND CHOCOLATE cupcakes... I think i would have carried them around in bubble wrap and tissue paper.. LOL

Can't wait to hear all about the dessert party! I vaguely remember it on facebook!

Just read your 2013 Prime Time dining experience and WOW! That was pretty awesome and I can't imagine ever topping that -- such a nice and special memory for you and Jim!
